3 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: I got this because it was a good deal at the time. Basically, it can do everything a beginner PC builder would want. It hasn't exploded, it works, and it has enough input slots for me.

Cons: Not enough things you can plug it into. It has like two plug ins on the actual unit itself, and on the cords there are a bunch of smaller plug ins where you can do things like plug in other things like ssds or hhds. The bad thing is that those plugs are really far from each other, and unless your hhds/ssds are an exact length apart you will either have a hard time plugging it in or not be able to plug it in at all.

Other Thoughts: Sorry I don't know all the technical terms, I used to know them but I haven't needed to for a while.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat unit

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: This unit has worked flawlessly for the past six months. Doubled the stock HP power supply unit. Another bonus is the fact that it is modolur making my tower innards less of a rats nest by using only the wires needed. Fan is very quiet and always runs cool. Liked it so much that I bought a Corsair CX600 W unit for another tower I built. One tip for anyone buying a power supply, pay the extra $5 or $10 and get a modolur unit.

Cons: Nada

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice Power Supply

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: Price! Very affordable for a certified PSU. Almost dead silent even under heavy gaming load, yet does not get very hot. The fan will slow down and sometimes stop if the PSU is not under load.

Semi modular, the only plugs that cannot be removed are the CPU power connector, and the ATX 20/24 pin power connector which you will need anyways. From there, you can plug in only what you need as far as SATA, Molex, and GPU power connectors. Makes for a much cleaner case interior. Quite a few connectors come with it, enough for the average user for sure. The cables are quite long, so it should be fine for most ATX mid towers. The cables are flexible enough, and are a simple black rubber coated design, so it looks nice and clean and should be easy to clean off if they get dusty.

Overall, very nice power supply, especially for the price these go for. Nice job by Corsair on these units.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I have used these CX units before and recommend them to friends doing new builds. I have a CX 750M in my main rig and have no issues with that one or this one. Nobody I have recommended them to has had issues either. The CX series in general are quite nice for the money. The higher end ones likely last longer, but these cost quite a bit less.

This CX 500M is powering:
Asus m4a78lt-m board with a Phenom II X4 965 BE (125W) stock clocks, 8GB DDR3 1600 RAM, Seagate 7200.14 1TB HDD, MSI Twin Frozr HD7850 @1000 MHz, stock voltage (1100 mV I think), 4 90mm case fans, and 1 DVD-RW drive. It has been perfectly stable and I would not be worried to run a few more drives or max out the RAM slots.

5 out of 5 eggsCX500M

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: Worked first try
Modular
Looks good in case
80+ bronze
Awesome price (w/rebate)

Cons: Power wires for HDD/optical drives could be a bit longer, works good for a mid tower but a full tower you might have some issues. Not work docking an egg for though, most people using this aren't running a full tower anyways.

Other Thoughts: Working great so far, no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsfirst modular PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: very quiet fan and the modular cables are kept to a minimum. I think i only needed to use one cable and that's for the drives. the CPU and 24pin motherboard power cables are NOT modular though.

Cons: none really.

Other Thoughts: my first modular PSU. I was going to buy the CX430 but this wasn't much more money so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm very happy so far. no problems at all and it's powering the rig just fine. AMD A6-5400K, 8GB hyper X RAM, and sandisk 128GBj SSD

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: Modular design was good and it seemed like a great value overall

Cons: I neglected to test the power drive when it arrived because (silly me) I assumed it would work out of the box. After spending hours building my computer and managing cables I was pretty disappointed to find that I couldn't boot up at all.

Other Thoughts: I didn't want to wait to build my computer so I picked up another power supply which has worked so I'll be sending this back.
