5 out of 5 eggsCorsair PSU's are amazing

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: 1. Modular - allows you to select the cables that you really need, so you don't have to have a bunch of tangled wires in the back of the case.
2. 80 + Certified.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When ever I am doing builds, no matter budget or not. I always look at corsair PSUs. Personally I owned a corsair PSU for over 2 years now I believe, and not one hiccup. I currently own a 750W variant of this. Which is also modular and 80+ bronze certified.

I recently was asked to build my friend a gaming PC and with my past experiences with Corsair, I again decided to do a corsair PSU. Now I accidentally ordered the non-modular version of this at first, but returned it and re-ordered this modular one. It arrived in perfect condition. Put it in, fired up the PC. No issues. I'm looking forward to this PSU serving the friend well.

TL;DR Corsair has really good PSU's no matter if you're doing a small budget friendly PC or high end rig. If you're looking to build something that is less than 850-900$, I would recommend looking at 80 + Bronze certified PSUs from corsair, like this one. If you're doing a more expensive build, or just want to have a more efficient PSU, I would recommend just a gold certified one. Unless you really want to shell out the money for the best of the best, then you can go above gold. But honestly, even with more expensive parts, gold is plenty fine.

1 out of 5 eggsLast Corsair PSU I buy

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: semi-modular (24 pin mobo power)/ CPU power cables are the only ones attached to this PSU.

Cons: Just assembled my mobo and found that the PSU is defective. I mailed in a rebate for this so I cant return it anymore. PSU tester revealed that this was a bad one. Used an EVGA PSU that I have on my Main Video editing rig and it fired right up. The 24 pin power cable is so stiff and it so difficult to put into/remove from the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: This is the second Corsair PSU that i return. One from my main rig and now im stuck with this one that was supposed to be for my htpc.

5 out of 5 eggsModular is the way to go

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC CP-9020059-NA Power Supply

Pros: - The modular aspect of that PSU. Makes the cable management way easy!
- 500W should be enough to satisfy the needs of a non-hardcore PC user

Cons: - For anyone who is in intensive user of a pc requirements, you may want to go to 750W or higher (not a personal -1 egg for me)

Other Thoughts: I highly suggest before you buy any PSU to go on websites that will calculate your wattage needs.

My build consists of :

Micro-Atx from Gigabyte (B85)
GTX 970 4GB from ASUS
4 x 4GB SDRAM DDR3 slots
2 SATA HDD
1 SDD
2 DVD-RW drives
1 Antec 900 Tower
Devil's Canyon i5-4690K (currently OC at 4200)

Conclusion: This PSU is sufficent for my build.
