The AX Series PSUs provides world-class performance, with 80 PLUS Platinum-certified efficiency, low noise, fully modular cable sets, and high reliability for extreme performance systems.

  • newegg 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency AX860 delivers up to 92% energey efficiency under real-world load conditions. Better efficiency means lower energy usage, less excess heat, and lower operating costs. Since less heat is generated, the fan doesn’t have to work as hard, so there’s less noise, too. It’s a great choice for smart, efficient power delivery.
  • newegg Advanced temperature-controlled fan with Zero RPM mode The fan doesn’t even spin at low loads. And when you’re pushing it hard, the double ball bearing 140mm fan adjusts its speed according to temperature, so it only works as hard as it needs to.
  • newegg Fully modular connection system with low-profile cables All of the power cables have connectors on both ends, with nothing hard-wired to the PSU. This makes for easier installs (you don’t need to deal with an octopus of cables while you’re putting in the power supply), and you can add cables one-by-one, using only the cables you need. The result is a cleaner-looking build, with better airflow.
  • newegg Clean, stable power delivery High-quality capacitors, a dedicated single +12V rail and a PF value of 0.99 give you reliable power output with extremely low ripple and noise. Over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, and short circuit protection provide maximum safety for your critical system components. And, AX860 is engineered to meet maximum power output at a server-grade 50° C temperature rating.
  • newegg Compatible The AX Series conforms to ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 standards, and is backward compatible with the ATX12V 2.2 and ATX12V 2.01 standards. It accepts universal AC input from 90V - 264V. Safety approvals include cTUVus, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TÜV, CCC, and C-tick.

3 out of 5 eggsWhine Noise.....and hmm.

Pros: -Platinum Rating
-Stylish
-Plenty of Cables

Cons: -I've rma'd a first one I ordered. Due to the fact that it won't turn on the rig. Rather, it actually caused small spark on my MB. When I turned my rig back on with my old PSU, it was on. I checked the CPU Processing speed it was running @ 0.17 GHz, and the MB indicated that my cpu was at 100 degree celsius, then it turned off itself........ well I tried to turn it back on several times, It wouldn't get turn on. So I contacted Corsair regarding possible reimbursement, and talked to tech support name Jacob. I'm still waiting for his response.
All and all, I managed to replace the power, CPU and the Motherboard by the resellers. But none of those were throught Corsair, since they only called once and never responded my message on the phone nor the ticket. (Jacob, from the Corsair Tech) when you read this, you can either close my ticket but I least want your reply on my claim.
-and little white noise thingy when it gets turned on.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent and Fully modular

Pros: Fully modular.
There are labels on each socket so there shouldn't be any confusion as to where to plug anything in.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I originally boughtt the 750 watt semi-modular in err, Newegg was kind enough to exchange it right away and apply a credit. Great service, had it at my doorstep in less than 2 days.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, though I may need the 860 watt

Pros: I don't think the fan has ever turned on. The efficiency is great.

The the modular cables are really nice. Helps make a clean build that both looks good and provide better airflow.

Provides enough power to my system. Though, SLI might be pushing it to the edge. Have to look into that a bit more.

the individually braided cables you can order for it are very nice.

Cons: -had some faint coil whine coming from the unit. It was not very loud and only occurred after I maxed out the fan slots on my case with new fans.

The whine was never very loud, though it was audible faintly over all the fans. It has since stopped since I got the special braided cables, or I've gotten used to it.

One issue I have, was when I was building my PC, I had intended to place the SSD behind the motherboard tray. However, note of the cables that come WITH the unit, (not the single braid color cables you can order from corsair), are strait SATA power. You wold need to use a molex to SATA power adapter.

I only discovered this after the rest of my components were in and the had to rethink everything.

The braided cables you can order, however DO have a straight sate power cable at the very end of the chain. Something that has annoyed me greatly....

Other Thoughts: I may be getting a second graphics card in the future. If I do, I may need to get the 860 watt psu and just switch the cables around (yay for modular PSUs?). I thought this would be enough. However, after further research now knowing what my options are limited to, this unit is JUST enough.

If you plan on SLI or crossfire, do more research than I did!

3 out of 5 eggsHigh Pitch Whine

Pros: I usually love Corsair products. The best feature other than the obvious advertised features is the color coding. All of the modular cables are completely black wrapped in a high end material. Nothing more annoying than looking at those ugly multi-colored power cables sticking out of your case and motherboard. Now they all blend in nicely.

Cons: High pitch whine when the machine is off. Maybe there is a whine the entire time, but I can't hear it over the 6 fans in my case. I actually have to flip the bottom power switch when the machine is off, which confuses the wife when she goes to turn it on. This is pretty big to me. When you spend this kind of money, you expect a flawless product. I'd RMA it but it takes 60-90 minutes to perfectly route all the cables in a case if you do it right and I have no desire to undo all the work I've done already.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: This PSU is small and powerful.

Cons: hang out behind the Quicky Mart.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand the people who had issues plugging in their fans and drives and other stuff in the wrong place; I mean it says right on the PSU what goes where. Oh well, all I can say is the obvious: if you buy this just read what is written above the sockets.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh efficiency

Pros: Full modular, high efficiency, great thermals and noise (or lack thereof).

Cons: Some of the included cables are just (word that rhymes with rap which is apparently "highly inappropriate"). SATA connections are passable but the fan cable is just atrocious. Considering all the other cables are great it just doesn't make sense.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality PSU!

Pros: It is extremely efficient and the cables look great. It has a hybrid mode switch as well that will turn the fan on only when the PSU is at 70% usage. Looks great and my SLI overclocked system is running beautifully.

Cons: As the reviewer below me mentioned, PLEASE be careful with the SATA/4-Pin Molex and PCI-E cable inputs. I accidently put my SATA cable into a PCI-E input and it fried my two HDDs and my Blu-Ray drive...didn't kill my SSD though thankfully. RMAed my HDDs, but the PCI-E ports are not colored differently from the SATA/Molex ports like Corsair does with their other PSU models, so be aware of this and double check your cables.

Other Thoughts: I got this PSU when it was on sale along with a $20 MIR. Came out to about $135...fantastic deal on an amazing PSU.

1 out of 5 eggsBe very careful!

Pros: Modular, nice design, 7 year warranty

Cons: It is very very easy to accidently plug the SATA/Peripheral connector into the PCI-E slot. I think they are different voltages and I plugged it into two of my fan controllers, both got a burning smell instantly and fried. Now I'm down 2 fan controllers, due to lack of safety design! Need to make designated SLOTS on fit what they are meant to be for!!!

5 out of 5 eggsQuality

Pros: Excellent PSU...
Almost bought the AX 750 but this was on deal.
I only paid $132 for it after a 15% off code and a $20 MIR.
80 plus Platinum - I never hear the fan running.
I stand by this Corsair Product.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: Be sure to unravel all the cords and let them breathe for a few days. This will help when you begin installation.

I recommend this product!
