1 out of 5 eggsdon't recommend, ruined a good fridge

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: No pros. Had very little swag.

Cons: When this puppy finally came to my house I jumped around like a Leprechaun who found his pot of gold. I quickly began to prepare the ritual and set things up. A few minutes have passed and I removed the new power supply from it's packaging and started hooking things together... Red wire with red wire and green with green. As I finished I turned on my refrigerator and it started for about 11 seconds, yes, I timed it and it was a perfect 11 seconds before it shutdown and blew out my refrigerator from Good Will. After sparks flew higher than fireworks on the 4th of July I realized my refrigerator was toasted along with my new power supply.

I do not recommend this product for refrigerator use.

Other Thoughts: Ferguson.

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very reliable. Have had this PSU for almost 2 years now and completely happy with it. Will be upgrading to a RM850 soon and will be using this PSU in a build with some spare parts i have lying around.

Cons: Non modular, cable management can be a pain.

2 out of 5 eggsBetter options...

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Provides consistent power.

Cons: COIL WHINE! Hands down the loudest piece of equipment on my machine. When under load, it starts screaming - to the point that I have to put on headphones. You can get better power supplies for less money, that don't have the consistent coil whine issue.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to use this PS to power a machine that is out of the way or hidden...then it's worth it, however if it's going to go in your office - pass on it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We're sorry that you're experiencing coil whine in your CX750. If you would like a replacement, please contact us by submitting a ticket at corsair.force.com or calling us at 888-222-4346 and we'll be more than happy to set you up with a new PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes it's job.

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Works great, supplies power, and does it's job!

Cons: See: "Other thoughts:"

Other Thoughts: If the wires were longer it would make cable management easier. I don't believe it's worth taking an egg off for because after a little soldering I have exactly the length I need. I don't expect everything to fit like a glove, sometimes it takes a little innovation :)

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed. Bad XMas Gift. Dead After 3 days

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Looks well made. Lots of connectors.

Cons: Dead after only 3 days of usage.

Other Thoughts: I bought this with a complete set of components to teach my son how to build a computer system this Christmas. Everything was fine until Christmas day (we built it early), when all it would do is spin the fans briefly and then nothing. I tried the PSU in one of my other systems, and the same thing. Luckily I was able to scavenge an old PSU to run my son's system. But sadly, he can't run his new GTX 760, since the old PSU doesn't have enough connectors.

Overall, I'm quite disappointed. I figured Corsair was a name brand. I didn't even have the PSU in an overclocked or overburdened system. It's a vanilla i5, one HD, one DVDR, and a GTX 760, all non-overclocked.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDead After 3 days... Disappointed

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Physically seems well made. Lots of connectors.
I didn't have the noise issue that others complained about.

Cons: Died after 3 days of usage in a pretty basic mAtx system with no overclocking... Technically, this power supply was underutilized to even cause any issues.

Other Thoughts: This was part of a Xmas gift for my son, and when we put the system together it was fine. Pretty small setup, 1 HD, 1 DVDR, mATX mb, the only power hungry thing in this was an EVGA 760 GPU. Non-OC system i5. Nothing here should have taxed the PSU, but alas, it's dead after only 3 days.

2 out of 5 eggsAnnoying coil whine

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Strong output in power and manageable in size. Wires can be neatly cabled.

Cons: Super annoying coil whine fresh out of the box that crickets even when it is not under heavy load. I've tried moving, flipping, replugging the PSU with no avail. This is apparently a known issue. It is extremely unfriendly to the ear when you're not using noise cancelling earphones meaning if you're just casually on the internet, you'll be losing your mind.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We're sorry that your CX750 has coil whine. If you would like a replacement, please contact us by submitting a ticket at corsair.force.com or calling us at 888-222-4346 and we'll be more than happy to help you.
