5 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I have purchased about 3 of these so far without issue.
Solid PSUs for the price (I always use rebates to go <$20).
Sleeved cables

Cons: At this price the non modular design is pretty much irrelevant.

Other Thoughts: One unit drives an A10-7850k based mini itx pc. I recently dropped in an old GTX 660 Ti (pulled from another machine after an upgrade) in the box and the power supply didn't skip a beat.

5 out of 5 eggsbest cheap power supply on the market

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: used this in a cheap computer build for my grandfather. On a budget, there's not much else that you can ask for for the price

Cons: not modular, so cabling can get messy

4 out of 5 eggsWish I had bought something else

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great low noise power supply so far, has enough power for my needs of the computer

Cons: I put it into an old thermaltake case and it seems the cables barely were long enough to run to some points. While pluggin in my hard drives sata power cables, with only minimal amount of force to barely snap the cable in the plastic just fell right off the top of one sata power cable and will not stay in the drives anymore. Probably a defect of production in the plastic

Other Thoughts: I gave it 4 eggs due to the problem with the plastic and cables not being long enough, the wires i am surprise to say feel rather thick though and is hard to bend which is not really a con but a pro in the long run. I bought this to get the cheapest powersupply possible, and after rebate its only 20 bux

5 out of 5 eggsWell made & great for a budget build

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Well constructed and 80 plus "Bronze" certified. Long cabling, Will handle extra case fans using included molex connectors. Has an 8 connector plug for motherboard power that can be used on a motherboard that has a four pin power connector.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I used this PS for a budget build. I recycled a four year old HTPC motherboard using an AMD Phenom II X2 545 CPU and included heatrsink fan in a Raidmax "Stingray" case. Everything in this build works great.

4 out of 5 eggsGood supply; TERRIBLE Mobo Connector

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, efficient, and inexpensive. I needed this for a budget NAS build and it really fit the bill.

Cons: The only con I have, and I'm removing an egg just for this, is that the connector for the motherboard is by far the worst I've ever encountered. When plugging it in, it leaves a 1mm or so gap between the top of the mobo connector and the housing and it's incredibly hard to get the clip to catch. I had to press incredibly hard on the motherboard while trying with my finger to keep it straight. From my understanding (seeing forum posts and whatnot) this is a common issue with the CX series power supplies. It NEEDS to be corrected.

4 out of 5 eggsGood cheap psu

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: value, quality construction. quiet

Cons: cheap chinese capacitors, no heat sink on bridge rectifier

Other Thoughts: Good quality psu, very quiet. I only paid $15 after rebate which is a steal. It passed the psu tester with flying colors. I also did a burn-in test where I ran it for 24 hours then tested it again. I advise everybody to test their psu prior to install. Since everything is made in china quality control can be inconsistent. Nothing worse than plugging a bad psu into your shiny new motherboard and having it fry everything including your hard drive. The only negative are the cheap capacitors inside (Samxon, Teapo, Jun-Fu). cheap caps usually don't last long. I upgraded to Nichicons and Panasonics for longevity. Also the bridge rectifier needed a heat sink. This may improve efficiency but it will definitely decrease the heat inside. After the $10 in cap upgrades I definitely got my moneys worth. This psu will last at least 5 years

1 out of 5 eggsdied after 2 weeks of use

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: it was cheap and it's supposed to be 80+ certified

Cons: it wasn't worth the money. Every time it's on sale it requires a MIR.

I ordered this thing a couple of months ago. It took me a while to move some things around and get it into production. 2 weeks into using it, the thing died despite power being filtered through both a UPS and a fairly high end (rack mounted) power strip.

When you look at the Corsair site, they basically want to inspect your colon and get a note from your mother BEFORE you can even waste time dealing with the tech support staff (which is a "requirement" before you can request an RMA, no matter how thoroughly you explain that you've already tested the issues you're having)

Other Thoughts: Good luck collecting on the "3 year warranty" . . because based on my experience, it's going to cost you more in your own time trying to RMA broken units over and over than you saved by buying this discount item.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We're sorry that your PSU failed after two weeks. It appears that there is some misconceptions with our RMA process and furtunately we're happy to help. All you need to do is go to corsair.force.com, create an account, and fill out the RMA ticket along with providing your proof of purchase and we'll be more than happy to send you a replacement.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support
