5 out of 5 eggsPlug and Play

Pros: I had a CPU tester at my work, so right when i got it, i pulled it out and, everything checked out. Its basically plug and play, which is what makes me happy now-a-days.

Cons: None what-so-ever. I love the way it looks too!

Other Thoughts: Buy it!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very quiet, great overall PSU and love the modular design.

Cons: As other have mentioned, not *fully* modular, but the 4 cabled that are built in are your CPU, Mobo, GPU connections.. so it's not like you'd build a system that didn't require them.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable w/Good Customer Service

Pros: Modular (could be considered hybrid)
Reliable (for a PC that is constantly on for weeks/months at a time)
Plenty of extra cables (flexibility for your build)
Customer service is quick (if needed)
Can definitely handle two high-end graphics cards in SLI/CrossFire
Quiet (at optimal load)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Builds this unit has powered (same unit since RMA):

1.
AMD Phenom 1090T
MSI 890FXA-GD70
G.SKILL Flare 8GB (2x4GB F3-16000CL8D-8GBFLS)
EVGA 470SC (1472)
3-500GB WD Black SATA III (in a RAID 5)
1.5TB Seagate SATAII
DVD-/+RW

2. AMD Phenom 1090T
ASUS Formula IV
G.SKILL Ripjaw Z 16GB (4x4GB F3-17000CL9Q-16GBZH)
2-EVGA 470SC (Both 1472, with and without the SLI Hack currently without)
Samsung SSD 830
1.5TB Seagate SATAII
(the 3 WD drives are still connected but not used)
DVD-/+RW

In my initial build I started with a new board that was not truly tested and had flaws. Results were that the board fried (it had mosfet issues) and the original HX-850 crapped out.

Contacted support which was friendly and prompt with my exchange for a new one which was within the first 2 months of the build/purchase.

Fast forward 2+ years and the replacement has been a tank. I've made two separate builds with some adjustments during the first build (with replacement MSI motherboard) before getting tired of the troubles keeping a stable overclock and switching to the ASUS motherboard and adding a second graphics card and SSD.

Throughout this entire time I've not had one issue with spikes (though I do have a trusted surge supressor) and even after setting up a SLI and overclocking it is still runs smoothly and better with the higher load.

There are plenty of cables that even include molex and sata connectors. This allowed me to be pretty effective at reducing the amount of cables in a crowded case. When adding the second graphics card I read over the manual which reminded me that you have to put both (1 pair) of the non-modular 6+2 connectors into a single graphics card and use the modular cables to power the second one.

With multiple fans and drives all running at once, at times I've had over 6 virtual machines running of different types and OSes, from having 2 to 3 screens connected running different movies. I've stressed my builds as much as I can and this is the foundation I seemed to build them on. Definitely recommend if the price is within your budget. I believe I got this with the CPU when I first purchased it. Never regretted it.

1 out of 5 eggsCoil whine

Pros: Nice, works in a sense.

Cons: Coil whine is unbearable.

Other Thoughts: Take more time and put out a better product, PSU number 2 in 3 months. Getting aggravated.

1 out of 5 eggs2 Faulty Units In A Row

Pros: I'm sure it would have been a great performer if I had gotten functional units

Cons: I recently built a new computer and decided to go with the HX850 for my power supply based on all the good reviews, and previous success with other Corsair units.

When I received the HX850 and assembled the computer, it worked fine for a couple days. Then I put the computer into sleep mode and it never woke up, literally. I swapped in another Corsair power supply from an old computer and everything seemed to work fine. I was bummed about the HX850, but decided to do an exchange for another HX850 as I know sometimes mistakes happen.

I get the replacement HX850 and hook it up to my new computer, and everything worked well.. for a couple hours. I wasn't doing anything strenuous on the computer when all the sudden I hear a pop and white smoke starts coming out of the computer case. Again, I swap in the old Corsair power supply from my old computer, and it seemed to work fine.

At this point, I decided to just go with another make/model completely. I purchased an 850w from a lesser known company, and it's been working fine for 2 weeks now.

I know defects occur, and maybe I just had really bad luck, but I'm really surprised (in a bad way) with this recent experience with Corsair power supplies. I have two other Corsair power supplies in older computers that have been working great for over four years. Hopefully this isn't a sign of declining quality on their part.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Excellent quality, came with its own crown royal style cable bag, slick textured matte black surface, and plenty of modular cables.
More power than my dinosaur of a gaming rig could possibly use, will be transplanting this into a new gaming rig once I can afford to build another.

Cons: None that I have found yet.

Other Thoughts: Very impressed with this PSU, especially for the price range, most other modular units with this much power/efficiency cost twice as much and got worse reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Love the modular design. The cables you will certainly use aren't modular however, but its only 4 cables. The rest is plug-in! Looooove the velvet bag and everything that came with it, made the power supply feel special.

Cons: None!

5 out of 5 eggsLittle engine that could

Pros: Bought this when I added another GTX 570 to my build, beautiful cables, perfect length for my haf-x. Never hear the fan, running HWmonitor, the voltages never change even when im running encoding or graphic intensive games. I have since added a 3rd GTX 570, this PSU has never quit on me even when running tomb raider or crysis 3. un-matched quality. PLENTY of extra cables and the bag it comes in is a nice touch.

Cons: The box was so high quality I couldn't throw it away, so now it's in my closet.

Other Thoughts: I7 920 @ 3.66
3x EVGA gtx 570 SC
12 G corsair dominator @ 1866
256 Neutron SSD
2 1TB WD blacks
6 fans, blu ray player, H60 w2 fans
cold cathodes fan controller and stand alone sound card.
