Okay, it's a power supply. Not much excitement there unless it starts smoking, right? But if you can't work up excitement, how about some respect? Like the 41 Ampere +12V rail (and there's just the one +12V rail, so you don't have to balance your power needs by hand.). How about the ability to auto-sense your input voltage from 90Vac to 264Vac, 50/60Hz? No more damaging your supply because the voltage selector was in the wrong setting.

Run cooler, too, because it can be up to 85% efficient, meaning less waste heat from the supply. Compatible with both ATX 2.0 and ATX 2.2 systems, it includes long cables for even full-sized tower installations. Nvidia SLI support It includes power connections for six SATA drives. A 120mm variable speed fan with double bearings gives good airflow with minimal noise. Active power factor correction helps deal with inductive loads (drive and fan motors, mostly).

A modern power supply for modern computers, just for you.

4 out of 5 eggsFor my first build

Pros: Works well
VEEERRRYYY QUIET

Cons: Was a bit hard to fit in case (Antec 300) but got it in with a little force.
SATA cables were a bit short.

Other Thoughts: Runs very quiet. I had to kind of flip around the cables because the connectors for the DVD and HDD seemed to be somewhat flipped. So I had to turn around the cable making it a tight squeeze. Maybe this is just a "me" problem. Good buy

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Great looking, solid, dependable and consistent.

Comes with wire ties

Cons: There are no cons

Other Thoughts: This is my second Corsair PS. I have a 450 watt Corsair as well, has been running for 2 years now and has never given me any problems. No degredation at all.

The only reason I bought a new PS was to go along with a new vid card.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Power Suppy, Lousy Rebate Terms

Pros: Product seems to put out steady voltages. Is quiet.

Cons: No instructions in box. Voltage label on top; out of sight when installed.
When you sit down to claim your rebate, be aware that you have just 21 days from the date of the invoice to postmark your rebate application. Subtract three days for delivery and a few days for you to install the product and make sure it works, and the rebate window may be less than two weeks. But you won't find know about the 21 days until you jump through hoops and submit the rebate code. For an overpriced product, 21 days is too short - and short enough that many customers will miss out on the rebate. Manufacturers establish these multi-step (cynical) rebate terms to increase the chance that the rebate would not be claimed. In my case, I missed the window by five days. Ten dollars isn't much, and Corsair can claim success!

Other Thoughts: Why would a manufacturer sell a reputable product and then leave a bad impression with their rebate terms?

5 out of 5 eggsAll that you could ask for and more!

Pros: Has power for everything you could think of! High 550W is plenty for just about anybody. There are a ton of plug-ins so you can power a ton of hardware. Comes with cable ties to keep the inside of your tower nice and neat. Runs for long periods of time without getting hot, even when playing games!

Cons: Almost too many cables.

Other Thoughts: Thank you Corsair for another quality product!

5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

Pros: Runs quiet and cool.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: thick cables meaning more space and not modular meaning your tower will be messy unless you have straps

5 out of 5 eggsWhat can I say

Pros: It is the only hardware in my system that gives off any sort of heat. The heat that dose radiate out is barely noticed! All the cables are nicely wrapped to allow easy placement. The fan is stealthy silent!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This was my first complete build, and while I thought all was hooked up, I didn't realize the 8pin connector could be split in to two 4's! No biggie, just if I knew it would have saved me hours and hours trying to figure out why my system wouldn't run BIOS...my fault for not looking closer.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair 550 ATX "A+"

Pros: Purchased this Power Supply in 07/09. It's RUNNING STRONG. It's Now Running Strong on 100v/50Hz. in Japan.
Runs Cool. Runs Quiet. Runs Steady. 41 Amps on the main Rail.

Cons: It's cheaper now than when I bought it.
(I would pay the higher price again to get this PSU.)

Other Thoughts: System: ASUS mobo, AMD x4 9650 CPU, 8 Gig-DDR2 Ram,
2 WD 640 Gig Drives, 2 DVD Multi-Drives, 1 320 Gig

5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

Pros: Good price.
Stable performance.
Corsair name and Corsair quality.
Adequate for most LGA 1156 builds.
Came with a bag, though I don't see why.
Temperatures are reasonable.

Cons: 550 W might not be enough for Crossfire or SLI setups depending on the cards used. Make sure you do your research. (Some dual GPU cards might require more power, as well.)

Other Thoughts: i5 750- 2.69 GHz stock OC'd to 2.80 GHz
4GB G.Skill 1600 DDR3 Ram
GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 P55 mATX motherboard.
HIS Radeon HD 4850 1 GB GPU
WD Caviar Black 640 GB HDD
Corsair 550W PSU (this one.)
Cooler Master RC 690 Mid Tower case.

More than enough power for this very stable, moderately priced build.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable, quiet

Pros: Plenty of power, plenty of connections, quiet, smooth, I also like the black color.

Cons: Minor issues: this PSU is relatively heavy; I didn't need all the connections so it's kind of a mess inside the case. If only this were modular, things would appear much tidier.

Other Thoughts: I've installed it a few days ago to replace my old power supply and at first I was scared the fan wasn't spinning--it was that quiet! I was really impressed. What a fantastic product so far. Installation was painless.
