Watt ratings are over used and abused and mean next to nothing in the world of PC's. Main consideration is +12V amps ...

Good value for a reliable power supply. This is probably the most clean and silent power supply straight out of the box ...

Pros: Very quiet, easy to install, looks nice, has no problems doing its job.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Came right as the old one blew up, which was very convenient, comes with a nice little bag.

1 out of 5 eggsBuzzing sound from PSU after RMA

Pros: None.

AMD x4 965 BE 130 watt verison.
Evga 460 SC 768 mb
4gb DDR2 ram
Intel SSD G2 80GB + 74 GB WD Raptor

Cons: A ridiculous buzzing sound that started off quiet at first and has progressively become louder than a cricket within a month. Like other reviews on here, the buzzing from my PSU is only audible at low power usage. Meaning if I load up a game or a benchmark program, the PSU is quiet.

It had this problem when i first bought it and i quickly RMAed and the unit that came back to me is still having that same problem. As many other users here have stated, even on their second RMA, they still get a broken unit. Corsair is refusing to recognize the issue. Let me emphasize that the buzzing is LOUDER than ANYTHING else in my Antec p180 case. It is also very distinct and my friends that walked in instantly asked what it was. My other friends with Corsair PSUs (different model) dont have this issue.

At this point i'm extremely scared the PSU will break and take the rest of my computer hardware with it.

Other Thoughts: I should mention the RMA process from Corsair takes 2 weeks. This was very inconvenient for any college students.

I made sure the buzzing noise is not from the fan by using my finger to stop the fan in the PSU. I also stopped the fan on my GPU and all case fans. I even upgraded to a more powerful GPU, hoping that the extra watt usage would make the PSU quiet. I put my ear close to the PSU and can hear the buzzing the loudest. I just recently upgraded to a new PSU and stopped all other fans inside my case. Its definitely buzzing from the PSU like MANY other reviewers have stated. The buzzing does not go away with time. It's been 6 months and the buzzing has gotten very noticeably worse.

I'm just about to junk this PSU instead of shipping it in again on a 2nd RMA and never buy another Corsair product. Regardless of all the 5 egg reviews on here, don't say i didn't warn you.

Manufacturer Response:

In cases like what you have mentioned here, the buzzing is typically a resonating coil on the graphics card. This is a very common issue with both Nvidia and ATI cards. You may want to contact your GPU manufacturer and try RMAing the card.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Looks nice. No annoying LED's. Cables are solid.

Cons: 2 RMA's for the same problem: Buzzing under load. While I do consider myself somewhat sensitive to that sort of thing, the noise emitted by these two PSU's were unacceptable. I used this in a HTPC.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy unless you really like driving to the UPS store. New Egg customer service was very helpful, and everything has been made right, so no complaints with them... only with the PSU.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed

Pros: Efficient

Cons: Higher noise than expected. System rebooted during load.
Just not up to snuff. BFG power supply was better.

Other Thoughts: System Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E8600(stock), Nvidia 9800GT(stock), 2 hard drives,1 DVD Drive.
This PS should have powered this setup with no problem.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is the first PSU I've ever bought and I chose it because of the good reviews it got here. Upon opening the box I was very happy with the overall quality of the materials and all the little things that were included (like little zip-ties) that help make the install look pro.

I bought this PSU to extend the life of an older dual-core machine and upgrade the video card for some mild gaming. This PSU did not disappoint.

I will be buying this PSU's 850w bigger brother when I go to build a real gaming rig in a few months.

Cons: More like nitpicks: I can hear it, that doesn't bother me but if you want a completely silent machine this might bother you a bit.

There are quite a few cords coming out of this thing and if you have a small case it might be hard to find a place to tuck them all away because you probably won't have a use for all of them. Again this doesn't bother me, I'm glad to have more than I need.

Other Thoughts: I had a moment of terror when I realized I have a 4 pin CPU plug on my mobo and the PSU has an 8 pin lead. After checking the manual I found that the 8 pin actually separates into 2x 4pin plugs so there was really no problem after all.

5 out of 5 eggsEasiest computer fix of my life

Pros: Decent price, quiet, stable, easy to install, neatly sheathed wires, and heck, it looks really cool.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I have been having some troubles with system stability for a while now, and have done a lot of research trying to find out what was wrong. Well, it turns out my power supply just couldn't cut it anymore. Lack of power really leads to some strange problems, and popping this baby in solved them all immediately. Newegg was exceptional as always, so this was a very good purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGood psu

Pros: Nice amount of connections and the cables are well protected.
Is not noisy in the least and doesn't have crazy amounts of heat.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The first unit I got was defective, but hey it happens, new egg handled it very well and the replacement has been running fine.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: worked fine for about 1.5 years

Cons: burned out after 1.5 years. It was well maintained and not abused, so this short of a lifetime is unacceptable. Now let's see if Corsair honors its warranties.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Very solid, well constructed. This power supply is NOT cheaply made. Exceeds it's rating of 450w. No problems with installation.

Cons: Many heavy duty wrapped cords make for tricky placement in a smaller case. Not a major con by any means.
Slight chirp noise dropped it 1 egg. It is not loud, but it takes away from perfect.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to others. Very solid power supply. I use this unit in a Dell Studio Core 2 Quad (q8300) with the ATI 5770.
