3 out of 5 eggsNot totally "i7 compatible"

Pros: For the price, surprisingly quiet. Tons of Molex connectors. Seems a great power supply as a replacement on a legacy machine.

Cons: Although Newegg has it listed as "i7 compatible", it does NOT include the 8 pin EATX12V plug -- ONLY the 4-pin. And if you're spending the money for an i7, do you really want it operating that way?? Plus, a total of two SATA connectors.

Other Thoughts: This thing looks like it was designed about five years ago, when SATA drives were rare(ish) and Pentiums required a 4-pin connector. Not, in any way, the power supply for an i7 (or any other i series, for that matter) build, IMO.

3 out of 5 eggsOk, nothing special...

Pros: It worked out of the box. 120mm fan is pretty quiet. PCI-E connector. It's a lot higher quality than generic garbage.

Cons: It's actually a 350W unit. Wire guage is pretty wimpy. It started squealing in less than a year. It says dual rail 12v but I highly doubt it's actually got split over current protection as a true dual rail does. Could probably do better for the price.

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad unit, but it's not really impressive either. I bought it since I recognized the name, since I had an awesome old Fortron Source 400W back in the AMD slot A days that weighed easily twice what this thing weighs. I figured it would be at least decent quality for the money, but I feel like you could do better. The fact that it started squealing in ~8 months powering a quite tame Athlon X2 email/office system kind of sealed the deal that it's a bit on the junk end of the spectrum for the $$. I'm going to RMA it through FSP just for the heck of it and keep it for an emergency spare. I wouldn't buy one again, though. It's kind of light and the internals look kind of wimpy, even though it's only a 350W.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat psu

Pros: It is a somewhat heavy bugger which is one of the references to a good psu is. Shipping was over $9.00, but it was worth it to have a psu that runs flawlessly. I ran it in my machine for about 3.5 mos and then put it in a machine that was having freeze-ups and other problems. That machine ran flawlessly afterwards.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: FSP is one that is at the top of the psu list now.

3 out of 5 eggsshortish type cables

Pros: White finish is neat looking in a case :). Has a 120 mm fan on a budget cooler :).

Cons: Not for a full/mid tower case. The cables are really short. I should have measured it and posted here but alas... UPS has it on it's way back to CALI.

Gauge of the wires was less than those on the PSU that I removed from the stock HP case and that PSU was from "who-knows-where-unpronounaceable-manufacturer"

Other Thoughts: Encouragement to newegg... list the PSU's with a cable length or compatibility with X,Y,Z case sizes. PLZ :)

4 out of 5 eggsFSP 400W PSU

Pros: The legs of the psu read within tolerance and the mobo booted right up. Much better than the other psu I tried which made the green light blink and the mobo didn't boot.

Cons: not enough 12vdc connectors
they should advertise it as a 350W because that is what the total power is.

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Nice price for the watts and cabling. Enough of each type of cable to get by.

Cons: Poor quality PSU. The fan started grinding within the first week of usage. (If I wait even longer, the fan will outright stop working and then the PSU Will overheat and fail.) I should have known better than to go with FSP (never heard of them, but I figured I would save 10 bucks and go with a cheap PSU.) I learned my lesson to stick with tried-and-true brand names. I returned this unit for a refund and I will be purchasing a better quality PSU made by Corsair for only 10 dollars more.

Other Thoughts: Don't make the same mistake I did. Even if it means paying 10 - 20 dollars more for the same watt PSU, go with manufacturers that know how to build these things properly. Corsair, Thermaltake, Enermax, OCZ, Coolermaster, Zalman, etc...

3 out of 5 eggsmeh

Pros: was strong while it lasted. i bought this on another account with stepbrother, and it lasted about 4-5 months , then a month ago started having issues with the power cable socket, had to first jiggle it, then it got worse to the point where it would turn on for about 5 seconds . only real good use i got out of this was: 1: running as a second PSU to power my 4850 EOC'd card, and now that it is dead i reused the fan it had and modded my case to accept it in the front(yay for plastic front panel :D) waiting on 850w CORSAIR...hope that one lasts, got the 2 year thing just in case. buy this if ur on a budget and need moderate power requirements, but if ur able to spend more, get a corsair/xigmatec/ or other "renowned" brand.

Cons: none, except that the power socket was badly made, too late to get a replacement just got a 850 instead to power whole system.... as stated before only good thing so far is the fan i modified to fit in my case in the front

Other Thoughts: for those who want to know how to run more then 1 PSU in ur system, its easy(two ways of doing it, i did it the hassle free way). ok on the powersupply u want to run as a secondary(say power ur fans/lighting etc or in my case video card) make a jump between the green PS_ON and the black ground two pins over(should be pins 14-16)once done all u got to do is plug it in, turn it on, and if it turns on congrats u got a solo PSU to run lights fans etc. reason i did it with the jump is because no cable cutting or splicing needed. only thing is u have to turn it on and off, it doesn't do it by itself as it is not connected to mobo(because of jump from 14-16)
