3 out of 5 eggstry disabling INT13 w/ multiple cards

Pros: I haven't purchased this particular Highpoint RAID controller, but I have purchased many others e.g. 2720SGL. In order to get 2 RocketRAID controllers working in the same motherboard, the INT13 setting must be disabled when flashing the new controller bios. Download the latest controller bios from Highpoint's website, and there should be a Windows program named hptflash.exe . You'll want to run this program without any drives attached, and before you install a second RocketRAID controller. After you have disabled INT13, boot into your motherboard BIOS to confirm whether or not that BIOS still sees the card as a "bootable device". By disabling INT13, your motherboard BIOS should NOT see the card as a "bootable device". At that point, you should be able to install a second RocketRAID, which will most probably come with a factory default of INT13 ENABLED. If you do NOT intend to boot from either card, then disable INT13 in the second controller, using a similar approach: of course, a different controller bios will be needed if the second controller is not identical to the first controller. Hope this helps. p.s. Don't forget Readme.txt which should download with the bios update files from Highpoint's website.

Cons: (not applicable if you disable INT13 as described above)

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: 24ports single card
fast copies between storage pools getting 380mb/s. not using the card in raid mode just jbod with a drive bender

Cons: two top ports are closer to the back of the case, 500mm cables just long enough to fit...not really a con since they do reach i guess..but would be nice if all 6 were in a row

Other Thoughts: could use an active fan for the heatsink.

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: Setup was easy

Cons: Card does not have the ability to have more than 8 arrays. Nowhere does it state this, until you get the error and ask their support, which you have to email them because theres no phone support.

1 out of 5 eggsavoid 2760A

Pros: none

Cons: 2760 card does not boot in bios when in combination with other Highpoint cards (e.g. 2720). Can only install/run by itself.

Advertised FreeBSD support is misleading. fBSD only for 8.x in the driver "archive" section, i.e. not for current releases.

Highpoint offers zero support. A web-based ticket system is in place, however issues opened there are ignored and receive no response, even with multiple attempts at follow-up.

There is no phone support, at any cost.

The published phone numbers are for sales only. Sales office in California has no link to support, and will not escalate issues to management.

Phoning Taiwan directly produces no result (unless you speak Mandarin?)

What a shameful, ridiculous, disaster of a company.

Other Thoughts: Either LSI and Areca are most likely better alternatives.

Each have active support forums, legitimate phone support, and cards with drivers that function for the operating systems they advertise as supported.
