5 out of 5 eggsgood adapter

Pros: Works just like it should. When I attach a USB 3.0 external hard drive via the ports on this card, data transfer is much faster than with the 2.0 ports on my computer.

Cons: can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: Another quality item from SIIG.

I'm using this with 64-bit Windows 7, Intel DH55HC desktop board, Core i5-650 CPU.

I used the drivers from the TI website, mentioned in another review.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing perfromace

Pros: Easy to install.
Works adequately with a OWC Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 RAID5 enclosure on Win7. I'm getting 200MBps Read and 170MBps Write.

Cons: I tried to install the latest TI chipset drivers, but it wouldn't recognize the Qx2, so I installed the SIIG drivers. The enclosure was recognized at that point.

I tested the OWC Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 RAID5 enclosure on my Mac Book Pro and I was able to get 250MBps read and 220MBps write...50MBps more on each. I'm disappointed in the difference I see. I was hoping the TI chipset would be a better performer.

Other Thoughts: I'd look elsewhere if you want maximum USB 3 performance.

5 out of 5 eggsStable Adapter

Pros: I've had several add on adapters that were problematic with drivers that did not work. This adapter works well. Use the TI drivers as stated below.

To give you an idea of performance, the following are CrystalDisk numbers using a 256gb Micron M4 with an Oyen USB 3.0 Minipro:

Seq: 239Read/155Write
512K 206Read/149Write
4K 16Read/38Write
4K QD32 18Read/45Write

Max throughput using a memory stick yielded about 170 MB/Sec.

This using a PCIe 2.0 x 8 slot

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsNow in use on a production server

Pros: + Stable, bloat-free drivers (download from siig.com)
+ Well-made hardware. No loose connectors, bad solder points, etc. No failers.
+ Fast: I get about 90MB/sec from the first test drive for large file transfers.
+ No data errors even after copying 3TB of files without pause.

Cons: The specifications say, "Up to 5.0 Gbps Data Transfer Rate", but that is slightly misleading.
USB uses 8b/10b encoding, so even in a perfect world, the maximum theoretical transfer rate tops out at 4GBit/sec.

Still, even if the card gets, say, 75% of that -- 3Gbit/sec is quite fast!

Other Thoughts: A storage server which requires frequent remote access to USB and other drives needed a USB3.0 upgrade for obvious reasons.
Being a production server, hardware reliability and driver quality were obvious concerns.
"Were." The drivers have been flawless, as has the performance of the hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsGood when you get it working...

Pros: 4 USB 3.0 ports in a PCEe slot.

Cons: As another reviewer mentioned, the best driver is not on the SIIG website. The card didn't work for me with their driver at all.

Other Thoughts: Get the driver from http://www.ti.com/product/tusb7340. This worked for me in Windows 7.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: would be nice if it worked. Everybody needs 3 more USB ports, no matter how many you have already.

Cons: must reinstall the drivers every day; haven't figured out what the deal is, but ever since I went to Win7 64 bit, it won't work unless you install the drivers everyday. Not even the found new hardware comes on at startup

Other Thoughts: I'm going to look for some more drivers at their site, and I hope it helps

5 out of 5 eggsNo Short

Pros: Pretty quite. Really cool color, which you can turn off. It didn't short out on me, so I'd say I'm very happy with it.

Cons: Not 1000W Gold Certified.

Other Thoughts: BE SURE TO USE A SURGE PROTECTOR!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Very Sturdy

Pros: It's a really good case! I love it. Very sturdy, very open, and gets lots of airflow.

Cons: Heavy

Other Thoughts: It didn't come with the 2 front 120mm fans which concerned me because I like airflow (Who doesn't). This was my first computer case and so far I love it very, very much.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Sale price of $29.99 4 ports even if one is internal...

Cons: DOA..tried two different machines. Doesn't even show up in device manager on Windows 8 Pro (64bit) or Windows 7 Pro (64bit)...bummed that I have to wait for rma.

Other Thoughts: Tried to order another one of these and just refund the first, but of course the promo code expired...sigh
