Two reviews from one person state that they get black and white using Linux (not the boxes fault), another person states "they" cannot capture as though a company would sell a product that doesn't work. The device works (read reviews on other sites like B&H) and the limit on quality is your original VHS tape and the quality of your VHS player. A good tape and a good VHS box (I used a DVHS last time I converted) will send out the best signal to be converted to digital. Cons: None; the software alone is worth more than capuring device/software combination. I bought on sale for a friend as it is now clearance with the demise of VHS. I preferred using a firewire capturing device in the past. but IEEE 1394 devices are vanishing too. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Did you? It does create some really BIG files so you need hard drive space. I thought it would just copy VHS tapes but it has an editing suite. Probably just fine for a home user. Dissapointed 8/20/2012 7:55:49 PM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 2/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 1/5DON'T BUY - PAY SUPPORT ONLY Pros: None! Can't get it to capture! Only thing that works is Studio 15 for editing video, and that is not even that great. I have a brand new I7 fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with all the updates installed. System is verified working 100%. Cons: Poorly written software, software locks up when I try to import. The software is poppycock! All you get is studio 15. The capture feature does not work. Application locks up when you go into capture/import and does not even close cleanly on kill app. Support is a joke... $9.95 PER INDECENT! Total waste of money! Other Thoughts: Unfortunately my room mate threw out the box so I doubt I can get my money back now. I now have a $60 USB wired brick! I can only hope I can find a decent 3rd party capture software that I don't have to pay for... most capture applications cost more then the hardware! 1 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
