  • newegg Black Diamond Choke and Full Solid Cap Design Choke is an important component of the graphics card. By working with the component engineer, Sapphire’s exclusive choke is 10% cooler, and offers 25% more power efficiency than a normal choke. The graphics card will be more reliable and will save energy. Improved reliability and better overclocking are possible by using only high-polymer, aluminum capacitors, which possess far superior characteristics than regular aluminum capacitors for a longer product life. When operational temperatures drop by 20°C, the product life span is extended by a factor of ten; when the operational temperature increases by 20°C, the product life span only decreases by 10%.
  • newegg DirectX 11.2 The tessellation performance on AMD Radeon R7/R9 series is up to two times faster than the previous generation, and DirectCompute performance is also faster to accelerate advanced post-processing, filtering, and anti-aliasing techniques. Direct X11 games has never looked this good.
  • newegg Mantle There’s optimization, and then there’s Mantle. Games enabled with Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality. (Application support is required.)
  • newegg AMD Eyefinity Enjoy the ultimate immersive gaming experience with innovative “wrap around” multidisplay capabilities.
  • newegg Dual Firmware Support This product supports both Legacy and UEFI BIOS. By factory default, the card itself is under Legacy mode. Sapphire products with "Dual Firmware Support" functions equip the UEFI firmware that's digitally signed and approved by Microsoft for Secure Boot. With Windows 8's secure boot architecture and its establishment of a root of trust, the customer is protected from malicious code executing in the boot path by ensuring that only signed, certified "known good" code and boot loader can execute before the operating system itself loads.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: This card works as it should providing 60+ fps on average in games at medium/high settings. However, playing BF4 on Ultra took a major fps dive. I won't dock an egg because this card isn't designed for stable fps above 60 on ultra settings.

Cons: None, really. Sapphire generally puts a good product out.

Other Thoughts: I got this card to crossfire with a 7870 sapphire vapor-x, which according to online reviews should crossfire. However, crossfire performance was inconsistent, with random fps drops, massive screen jitters, etc. I don't have the time of day to fiddle with settings and troubleshoot and my PSU was enough 850 watts. So I returned it to upgrade to a 280x or 290.

As of this review the 280x has dropped in price and is worth the extra 30-40 bucks for the upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggslove this card, especially for the price

Pros: fast. easy to overclock and keep safe temps. great value relative to NVIDIA. i have Mass Effect 2 and Skyrim at Ultra settings (1920x1200) and no lag at 60 Hz vsync.

Cons: nothing bad to say about it, except maybe that it can't run CUDA.

5 out of 5 eggsR9 270x

Pros: So i've been using this bad boy for a little over a month now and it works a charm. I play CSGO at 250+ fps, I also play Planetside2 everything maxed out at 50 - 60 fps. I play at a 1920x1080 resolution. I reccomend this to anyone who wants to get into Ultra settings 1080p gaming. Also it's very quiet.

Cons: no cons

Other Thoughts: It is pretty large and requires 2x 6 pin power connectors.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card on a budget.

Pros: This is my third Sapphire card. Previous experience has made me trust the Sapphire name.

My old crossfired 4850's are still running after 5+ years of running on max core/mem clock and max fan speed while running games. Runs hotter than satan's poop chute but they seem bulletproof enough.

Shopping around for a $200~ card and read some great reviews the R9 270x Vapor. Nearly bought the Sapphire Toxic 270x but decided the smidge of extra grunt wasn't worth the extra money. Still, check it out anyway, it is slightly better than the Vapor for not much more, but I digress.

I wanted a card that could A) Run War Thunder maxed out B) Run Witcher 2 maxed out and C) Run Dragon Age Inquisition at acceptably pretty levels. This card has thus far met all of that criteria. War Thunder, on the ground, is very heavy with the particle effects, shadows, foliage, lighting etc, and I have yet to see it dip below 45 fps, and that's only in the middle of an artillery barrage. Witcher 2, maxed with no problems. DA:I, turned one or two settings on med/high and it runs without a hitch.

Admittedly I'm not a heavy gamer, but when I have time to play the few games I enjoy at the moment, I want eye candy.

Cons: The AMD Catalyst software is slightly annoying in that when you update online, it's slightly more complicated than seems necessary. However, I popped the driver disc in and so far everything has been spiffy, so no harm done.

Other Thoughts: I haven't OC'd it yet as it's not necessary yet, but I do tinker the fan speed using MSI Afterburner to find a medium between temps and noise level.

4 out of 5 eggsI can dig it!

Pros: Finally switched to the master race from being a console gamer most of my life, I was stuck in the past and played old games like Counter-Strike: Source and CS: GO on PC but never anything more. I recently switched to Battlefield 4 to test the waters of PC gaming and I finally see what I've been missing.

The Vapor-X is awesome for entry-level gamers like myself, the installation was next to nothing (as it should be), it's clean with no flashy LED's or nonsense (ninja-sleeper status). I run BF-4 at ~45-50fps on med-high settings (depending on temps, see below)

Cons: The only con I can think of is the fact that if I'm playing on Ultra the card works wonderful for a 10 min or so then you can tell it gets hot and starts dropping frames. I usually leave game settings on medium to high and the card stays cool and everything runs smooth.

Other Thoughts: Note:

I installed a 120mm intake fan to punch cold air at the graphics card to see if that helps bring the temps down under load.

2 out of 5 eggsLikely Dud

Pros: Well constructed, plug'n'play, performed excellently when it was functioning properly.

Cons: After 1 week the GPU began failing to keep up with simple playback demands. D3D is running at 100% if anything is running on the box at all.

Other Thoughts: This is very likely a deffective unit for which I am pursuing a warranty fix/exchange.

5 out of 5 eggsA Fantastic Card

Pros: The best graphics card I have had. It stays cool at only 20% capacity. This was definitly worth the money, buy it. This card is a darn monster.

Cons: I had to move my hard drive out of the way just to put this sucker in because it was so big, but.
