Pros: It looks great, and the price was hard to pass up for the power.

Cons: Despite looking all nice and shiny, I received not one, but TWO cards that were Dead On Arrival.

When I received the first card, I made sure I followed all of the steps. I plugged in everything perfectly, handled everything correctly, and I even checked with a friend's card to see if it was my motherboard not recognizing the PCI slot. Nothing. So, I went through Newegg's RMA process to get a replacement card.

Three weeks later, I received my replacement card. Once again, I followed all of the steps properly. Nothing. I received TWO cards in a row that were D.O.A. It might just be that Sapphire has made a bad batch or something, but I'm done with them.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to try to get in-store credit so that I can buy a card from a different manufacturer. The EVGA cards seem to have super high ratings, so I think I'm going to check them out in a few weeks.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card but LOUD

Pros: •Cheap
•Runs every game I have thrown at it at at least 60fps on high/ultra settings.

Cons: •I had to zip tie the car up to the mounting bracket in my case (Silverstone RVZ01B) because when the fan went over 50% max fan speed it made a high pitched grinding noise. It sagged enough that the fans were hitting the heatsink.
•Even when they aren't grinding on the heat sink the fans are pretty loud. I sit across the living room and can hear them a bit while playing Far Cry 3 (only game so far that stresses the card out with temps up to 75° C) but I can't fault it too much as the case it sits in is pretty cramped quarters.

Other Thoughts: So far it runs everything I have thrown at it like a champ but we'll see how long it can perform that way.

Bottom line: Great card for the price. So far so good.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked... then stopped.

Pros: It worked wonderfully for about 3 days of use.

Cons: I used the card for 3 days, went on vacation, came back and played for about 3 hours and now any game/program rarely reaches over 1/2 FPS.

Other Thoughts: It's a good card, when it works.

5 out of 5 eggsLovin It!

Pros: Great Card playing Star Citizen Arena Commander on very high settings 1080p. I have overridden the anti aliasing in CCC to use morphological anti-aliasing though I am not sure I need to. Raptr put most of my settings on Ultra for Tomb Raider. I was worried about the GPU temps but my RaidMax Atlas case with a top 140mm exhaust fan and a 120mm front intake is keeping it nice and cool. I just played Star Citizen on very high 1080p for an hour and the GPU was sitting at 56c. Not bad my 260x used run at 65c on medium 1600 x 900 playing the same game.

Cons: There are faster 280x cards out there but for the money, I paid for it 269.00 when it was on sale I am pretty pleased.

Other Thoughts: FX-6300, Sapphire 280x Dual X 870 (1020 boost). 2x4 8 Gig G.Skill 1866 CL8, Samsung 840 Evo 120, Windows 8.1 Update 1. AsRock 970 Extreme 4, 500 gig Seagate 7400rpm.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat GPU

Pros: Card runs great, better performance than older card (Radeon hd 7950). Benchmarked Dirt 3 at average of 93.2 fps on ultra with everything turned up as high as possible with a very old cpu ( amd phenom x4 955).

Cons: Card runs a bit hot, but i'm pretty sure that has more to do with the old compaq presario case that it's is. Plan on getting a better case and upgrading cpu in the next month so hopefully this fixes the temp issue.

Other Thoughts: I was happy with my 7950, but after it's death I needed to replace the card and I am very happy with the r9 line.

4 out of 5 eggsA little large

Pros: Runs just about everything I can hope to run on both screens, both fans keep the card at low temperatures

Cons: I had issues installing the drivers, but this may have been an AMD catalyst manager issue. Also a fairly large card, caused a small issue with cord management.

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost great

Pros: Very good card, I got it when it first came out. I'm able to run battlefield 4 ultra at around 60 - 75 frames a second. Needless to say, other games run extremely smooth.

Cons: When doing normal things like browsing the internet, small tasks in my desktop or even some games at random times, it will start flickering like crazy for about 1 to 3 seconds. Initially this didn't bother me as much, but lately it's been getting worse, and for some games I needed to only use one monitor, so I switched it so it only displays in one... As soon as I did that, the floodgates of flickers and tearing opened. It was showing tearing on massive scales as well as nonstop flickering. Needless to say, I switched it back to dual monitor set up immediately. If anyone could get back to me on a fix for this or something, I would greatly appreciate it... but for now, it's a really big con.

Other Thoughts: Had it not been for the con, it would've been a GREAT card.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid card

Pros: Has run every high impact game I have thrown its way (tomb raider, Battlefield 4, starcraft 2) all on ultra well over or comfortably above 60 fps @1360x768

the dual fans do keep the card reasonable cool. no temps outside the recommended operating temps. they are also surprisingly not that loud.

Cons: not the most stylish, and the shield is plastic cant see it anyways so nothing really.

Other Thoughts: picked it up for 299$ which is a good deal thanks to the bitcoin trend. (jerks)

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Strong, powerful as everyone knows.

overclocked@ core-1150/mem-1700. voltage@1237
from my killa watt the card pulls around 300-350w with gpu load.

Voltage unlocked with trixx!

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I had 2 x 5850's on my 750w psu, ran them at full overclock, psu is fine. I run this card on this 750w psu of mine, it makes my psu have coil whine noise as fps gets higher on games the louder the coil whine gets. Con? Possibly. As like I said I had two 5850's severely overclocked on this psu and never heard such a coil whine in my life until I connected this card to it. Maybe time for new psu but I read forums that all sorts of ppl are having these coil chines whether it be nvidia or amd vid cards.

PSU coil whine happens with or without overclock.
