5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Great graphics, runs my 3 triple monitors no problem. I game on the middle monitor and use the side monitors for chat/videos/web browsing when I'm gaming. I run League of Legends on high with a minimum of 60fps while running triple monitors. Runs Bioshock infinite on Ultra if i remember correctly as well.

Cons: Only con is from the side view in the window of my case it is about the most plain looking graphics card in the world without being ugly. Can't take a star off for looks though ;)

5 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade

Pros: Plays anything I throw at it.
Have played Bioshock Inf, DMC, Fable 3, Supreme Commander FA and 2 to name a few.
Only cost me $220 when I bought it

Cons: Fans can get loud even at 40%

Other Thoughts: Make sure to download the latest Drivers. I had screen tear issues initially from bad drivers. I had to completely remove the old drivers and install the new drivers to get rid of the issue. (Had my monitor defaulting at wrong freq among other issues) Ever since this I have been able to enjoy it completely.

3 out of 5 eggsBroken fan after 2 months

Pros: Fast, works well for mining. Hits about 650/per. Runs cooler than most other cards.

Cons: One of the fans died after only a few months of use. Now I have to go through the process of returning it. I should have bought an extended warranty through NewEgg. Now I have to go through the manufacturer. :(

3 out of 5 eggsBought before mining boom hit, still building mining rigs and looking somewhere else

Pros: Can reach 620 kh/s without trying hard in cgminer

Cons: The fans on this card are not good at all, they're rattling at me as we speak basically idling. IMHO they do not provide sufficient cooling for mining, I needed a lot of extra cooling to make me feel comfortable mining for extended periods. They still work as ok as they ever did for cooling but I'm not sure how much longer I can expect that to hold up. I have used the card heavily for mining but I haven't pushed it to a point for an extended period that should tax it beyond reasonable expectations.

Other Thoughts: The card has performed to expectations in every way as it is described except the fans fall way short. I do not want to void the warranty to fix them myself when they do eventually completely break, so I will have no choice but to do a costly RMA.

I'm still building mining rigs and I am not considering using these cards in multi GPU setups, if a card is not going to be reliable what is the point in putting it into essentially a workhorse role. That's why I'm giving it a low score and honestly might deserve lower for that reason. At this point these cards will never have a use besides for mining if you look at it reasonably. The price is super inflated right now so no one would buy them for any purpose but to mine, if/when the mining craze dies down the price will never drop down to a point where it would be feasible to buy for a pure gaming machine as there will always some degree of pull from mining making the price/performance not add up for purely gaming, so I feel reviewing this card at this point for any other purpose would be absurd. If you're buying this and not mining you must be a huge amd fanboy/idiot.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card

Pros: Great card, overclocks well and stays cool with factory cooler. Has played on high everything have thrown at it.

Cons: Fans are loud when cranked up, I can hear them over the 3 220mm and the 2 140mm fans in my case.not really a con I just crank the stereo and use only for gaming.

Other Thoughts: I got it on sale for 300 bucks a year ago and I cannot believe how much cards have gone up due to coin mining.I guess I will have to wait until the craze is over to buy another card for cross fire.

2 out of 5 eggsUnderwhelmed

Pros: It provided video as it was supposed to.

Cons: The fans rattle, fail to spin sometimes and are just plain bad.

The card doesn't properly display the BIOS for my board, a problem I have not had with other cards.

Other Thoughts: I contacted support about the issues I had and support for this card was useless. I will never buy a Sapphire product again.

1 out of 5 eggsblown capcitor

Pros: worked well until it blew the capacitor.

Cons: it blew sparks and burned. and turned out to be a capacitor burned to ashes. I guess they used cheap capacitors.

Other Thoughts: buy gigabyte.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I Expected (Sort of...)

Pros: - Powerful
- More cost efficient than nVidia counterparts (AT TIME OF PURCHASE, not now...)
- Easy install/setup
- Runs cool
- Easy to overclock

Cons: - Price has spiked to a very disproportionate cost-to-performance ratio due to Cryptocurrency mining popularity. (More explained in other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: At the time of purchase, this was a pretty solid choice for anyone wanting to build a higher-end gaming computer. It's a very powerful graphics card that can play any game I throw at it on the highest settings even now and get high FPS, so it's entirely feasible to use this card alone when building a new system. On top of that, the card runs quite cool in my setup - Idle at ~30 C (depending on weather, it sometimes is as low as 26 C), and 55-60 C under load (again, depending on weather). Fans can be a bit noisy with default settings, but there's plenty of 3rd party software that can let you adjust your fan curve. I've found that the breakpoint for noise is right about 55%, and my system is set to only go over that when running above 60 C.

Even if you ever find yourself needing a little more, SLI is always an option that will allow you to compete with and outperform even the best graphics cards without having to dump so much money into your system in the beginning. I was planning on doing so myself eventually, but then there was a problem...

Unfortunately for gamers who prefer AMD graphics cards, Cryptocurrency mining has had a huge boom in popularity as of late, which has driven up the cost of the top-of-the-line AMD cards well above the appropriate price tag (Easily $150 or more overpriced). This means that until prices stabilize, this card is not a viable option for new gaming systems.

I would recommend this card to anyone looking for a high-end gaming card, but be smart about your choice! Wait until the mining craze has calmed down a bit before you buy, or buy a slightly cheaper card. The Radeon HD 7870 is barely any less of a performer in terms of gaming, but costs LESS THAN HALF the money right now.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Poor RMA Service

Pros: When it works, it's great.

Cons: Terrible service in the U.S.A. from Althon Micro, manufacturer seems to go out of its way to be non-contactable.

Other Thoughts: I have several of these cards. One of them had a fan failure within 2 months of purchase. It was returned to Althon Micro through the RMA process, and a replacement card was shipped to me by the slowest method possible (is it really too much to expect them to use Priority Mail Flat Rate which is both quicker and cheaper?). The replacement is clearly reconditioned, and runs approximately 15 degrees hotter than another card of the exact same model will when placed in the same place with the same settings. It therefore throttles itself.

At a guess the reconditioned card originally also had a fan failure, and when it was repaired someone either forgot the thermal compound or didn't apply enough of it.

I don't expect to RMA a card and receive a defective replacement that apparently nobody bothered to test under load. "Yeah, the fan spins now, let's call it good" - "Shouldn't we give it a test run?" - "Nah man, look at it spin when I let rip with my finger".
