4 out of 5 eggsWorks pretty well for the price

Pros: I got this card because it is certified for Autodesk Inventor and because it can run 3 displays. Better specs than a Quadro at a lower price. I run 3 displays at 1920x1080 and have no trouble running 1080 video on two displays while doing CAD work even with large assemblies on the third. Great performance. Card has been going good for over a year.

Cons: Every now and then the sound part of the ATI HDMI driver will crash. Finally, Catalyst Control Center is a piece of junk and I hate it. CCC and Windows are constantly battling for control of the settings. So, -1 egg for that.

Other Thoughts: You have to be careful with what type of adapters you use with this card. I don't even remember what I had to do but it was finicky.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Workstation Card

Pros: Price and features is what I like about this card. I use it for 3d modeling in autodesk 3ds max and mudbox and must say it runs pretty good for an entry level card just make sure you download the lastest drivers to get all the benefits.
Can also run games on med-high settings..was able to run Skyrim on 1080p resolution surprisingly well although the frame rates did slow down a bit.
Eyefinity is a plus as well I run 3 monitors at once with it and makes multitasking with multiple apps easier to navigate through.

Cons: No HDMI port and had to purchase an ACTIVE display port dvi adapter to get my 3rd monitor to work as the one bundled with card is a passive one. Shouldn't be a problem if your monitor has a display port adapter but unfortunately mine didn't.

Other Thoughts: If you're on a budget you can't go wrong with this card as I've had for a year now and still runs great.

3 out of 5 eggsfinicky during setup

Pros: Works once I got it setup.

Cons: Took several tries with three different computers before setup was successful. The network port of the computers that were attached to it would not connect or show any network activity or presence after several reboots. I was about to RMA but decided to unplug wait 24 hours and try one last time. Setup finally completed successfully. I will keep it for now but the next bad/finicky behavior and it's going back.

Other Thoughts: This is replacing a Linksys WRT54G that ran flawlessly for three years. Maybe most routers are a pain and I'm just sheltered.

5 out of 5 eggsGood choice for Linux workstation

Pros: Good choice for use with Linux because the open source drivers are well supported by modern distributions such as Fedora and Ubuntu.

Cons: None so far.

3 out of 5 eggsLacking in 3D apps

Pros: Firstly I'm writing in terms of 3D capabilities..

Zbrush - works well but lags in high resolution. Is stable though

Maya - basically modelling is stable but if you intend on having a more demanding work flow see cons.

Nuke - seems happy and stable

On another note it works a treat with Avid. ( I know editing relies heavily on the processor but the graphics card is still important). I can edit full res panasonic dvc pro HD smoothly, which is great! I couldn't on my previous ati card

Cons: My main issue is with Maya. In Maya there are big lags and very unstable. Constant crashing. Getting maya to perform well is a dark art but this card had me seething.
Regular crashes. If you're using maya for anything beyond simple work flow, it's well worth forking out the extra cash or something that's proven itself like a Nvidia Quadro.
There was some improvement with a recent driver update but it still crashes regularly. I've given up on ati for 3D for the time being.

Other Thoughts: It's actually been a great card for most purposes and really couldn't say I had an issue if it wasn't for poor maya performance. Maybe one day the drivers will rectify this but I suspect not any time soon

5 out of 5 eggsArchitecture Drafting Student

Pros: card is very accurate! It supports dual screen and is very smooth drafting on both. quick and does not get bogged down easy. I have had a microcosm embedded in a draft and it did not get choppy, my studio pc could not handle it. it's slim size fits easily. the price is the best bang for the buck

I did not read closely enough, it has "display ports" so make sure you buy an adapter! it does come with 1 displayport to DVI adapter. i'd suggest going display port to hdmi, but you could still use the adapter and the other dvi to hook up dual monitors on dvi's

Other Thoughts: VERY pleased!

So far I have used Microstation a lot on it. I have booted up revit, but no assignments in it yet.

I suggest this model to my peers, It is the cheapest price for the best quality without spending thousands. I am VERY pleased wit hit

5 out of 5 eggsTo Crossfire or Not To Crossfire

Pros: Ok, enough of this trying to figure it out on google, forums and every other site imaginable.
Everyone wants to know, can you crossfire these, and no one wants to buy a second one and risk the answer being no.
As if this can be crossfired, 4 of this would out perform 1 9800 at 1/3 the cost.
So I am buying a second one, and I will let you all know the result. Because simply put, someone needs to review this blasted thing.
IT has the headers for it, but an absolute media blackout everywhere for it, especially on amd forums, which makes me think people, amd must be hiding this little secret really well so that no one knows the deal the could have.

So simply put I will put my review in other thoughts on october 8th.

Cons: Come on, its amd, there are no cons...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Stable, not at all power-hungry, runs well using Linux (!).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card since I am not a gamester but rather wanted something with decent graphics power and would work well with Linux. So far it has worked well for me.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Entry-Mid Rendering Card

Pros: Great Entry-Mid Level Rendering Card! For the price, can't be beat either. ATI's commitment to releasing driver updates on a regular basis to keep improving their products is unbeatable

Cons: Initial issues with drivers (I think the entire HD5xxx line had this same problem. Seems to be fixed now. Had to not install Catalyst for the first few months

Other Thoughts: I bought 6 workstations with these in them months ago due to it would have delayed my schedule a whole month to wait on the NVidia Quadro 560 I originally planned on using. They work great! I don't know why people are complaining about no Crossfire. Crossfire is a feature for gaming video cards. Buy the HD5000 series if you want more speed but that's not what these cards are for. As for the people with compatibility with older motherboards, update your firmware on your montherboards. Back in the day, flashing your BIOS was scary. You can do it from WITHIN Windows now. This is a great card for the features it comes with. If you need more power or want to Crossfire two of them, don't go with it. It wasn't built for that. Does what it's supposed to great! :-D
