HIS 4870x2 Rocks
- Pros: This card is amazing, it wipes out any game you throw at it at very high resolutions like 1920x1200. It even makes older games shine even more because of adding more AA and AF. As of right now I have it at stock cores and memory but I have my fan speed at 40%@ 44C idle and 60s load
- Cons: PLEASE! Anyone who this card or any others, please bump the fan speed. The stock fan speed on this is really low, like 27% low which doesn't do anything. I keep mine at 40% and theres is practically no sound that I hear except from other other fans in the case. This isn't really con, I just wanted to let people who buy this card to know this or else they well be have some bacon and eggs on this card.
- Other Thoughts: My System:
Q6600 @ 3.2GHz Abit IP35 Pro 2x1GB Corsair RAM 150GB Raptor and 1TB Cavier Thermaltake 650Watt Modular 52A PSU Cosmos 1000 Full Tower Case
Drivers ruin this card
- Pros: Well I guess it is the most powerful card made right now. Runs pretty much any game maxed out.
- Cons: Well actually using this card is the hard part. ATI drivers are worthless. What is power without stability. Nothing. I was only able to play farcry 2 and crysis for about 45min before either the card gets too hot, or the ATI CCC crashes. Strange glitches in games like crysis. The fan profiles are lousy, allowing this card to get way too hot. I set the fan to run at 57%. it may be loud but it stayed cooler. Even with this card cooled better, driver crashes, poor scaling, and strage game glitches (like flickering textures) make this card a waste money.
- Other Thoughts: I sold this card, and have purchased a GTX280. The GTX280 is fast and stable. Plus it overclocks well.
Great card when it works
- Pros: Excellent frame-rates and processing power. probably not a better card on the market.
- Cons: RUNS HOT!! my idle temperature is 100C I may have to liquid cool the card. Drivers are very bad, games wont run in full screen, atikmdag error the crash. I sent it in for a replacement, the company is sending one free.
- Other Thoughts: You get the bang for the buck with ati but there is a good chance you will have problems with it. 3 of my friends also bought the card and had similar problems.
