5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: Nice and quiet, plays most of my games (Crysis included) with max settings, no complaints thus far!

Cons: About the size of a Buick, manufacturer software sucks but just download ATI software suite.

Pros: Displays basic graphics

Cons: Any 3D rendering (WoW or even the ATI CCC's renderings) have artifacts. RMA'd the card to HIS, problem persisted.
Tried different board/CPU/HDD issue persisted.
Loaded up my system yesterday and the PC BIOS would not start up because of a video card error. Card is dead.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend any HIS product to any friend of mine.

Pros: This card runs great, I am unreal tournament person myself and don't play any other games much, but it runs great.
I did try new NSF Shift in maxed settings and it runs with no lag.
New egg price/shipping rocks as usual.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish I've gotten a 1Gb version, but for now I don't see any downfall.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This card is the best card for the money. it has a very good cooler which translates into high overclock potentials. Even though it is only 512mb i am able to (with my system. see other thoughts) play Call of Duty World at War maxed with full AA and AF playing at 1920x1080 resolution with 60+ fps. Using stock cooler i was able overclock it 830 core with 1200 memory. This is great card and for $150 it is the best.

Cons: It does not look like the one in the picture it has a different sticker. Which is not a problem for me, it still looks awesome and is face down in my case anyways..

Other Thoughts: My specs
AMD Phenom II X2 550BE at 3.7Ghz
Asus M4A78 PLUS
4gb DDR2 800Mhz with 4,5,5,14 timings
HIS Radeon 4870 512mb @ 830/1200
Corsair 550VX
RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black
Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb
I really hope this helps

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: For $150 it is the best card that you can buy. It looks awesome; cools well considering the card being "naturally" hot; just great.

Cons: The 1gb version is like $100 more. not a con just it doesnt make sense.

Other Thoughts: I have this with a Corsair 550vx and a phenom II x2 and 4gb 1066 ddr2 ram and i run every game maxed out (including crysis) at 1280x720. This card will run a lot of games maxed at higher resolutions but that is as high as my LCD will go with VGA cable.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Pros: Low price.
New egg and UPS are fantastic when it comes to product prices and delivery.

Cons: I run crossfire with two of these cards. One of the cards is having massive issues, it is emitting a very high sound and causing graphical corruption which lead to BSODs. After TRYING to contact HIS tech support to get a RMA setup I learned why the cards are so cheap. THEY DO NOT have a US based facility and YOU MUST go through a third party. You HAVE to fill out a .pdf and e-mail/fax the third party company yo get any sort of RMA setup. I contact there support and was told to expect a 30+ day waiting time for my card to be processed. I asked about a cross shipment and it is something THEY DO NOT SUPPORT!

If I would of known the utter POOR quality of support I would NEVER have brought this product. Furthermore I am a technician for a local PC repair shop and have sold a number of HIS products. If something does not change with their processing quickly I am going to DEMAND a total refund of ALL products I have bought from this horrid company.

Other Thoughts: I've never been so embarrassed about a company and I only hope you note this review and save yourself a huge hassle.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your purchase and for taking the time to write about your HIS card. We are sorry to hear your CrossFire setup is no longer working for you.

Our RMA service and tech support is located in Northern California, you can reach a live person at (408) 331-8847. Response and processing times are speedy and comply with expected industry standards.

Kind Regards,

HIS Customer Service

5 out of 5 eggsCan't go wrong

Pros: If you pair this card with a decent dual core or better processor, you can stop worrying about system requirements. Guaranteed to play any game on the market today with no problems at all. Hums right through Crysis at a pretty steady 35-45 FPS, all high settings except motion blur. AA is practically free. I see no performance impact in most games between 0x AA and 4x or 8x AA. Plays any games from Valve (HL2:EP 2, Portal, TF2, L4D) impeccably. It even beat the GTX 280 in EP2 benchmarks, so if you have the Orange Box, definitely go with this card. For the price, it is an excellent buy and pairs nicely in Cross Fire with another one of these suckers. HIS is a good brand, would definitely buy again.

Cons: The physics processing on the card is half-baked. ATI claims that physics are done on the board, but I haven't seen anything that utilizes that capability. Nvidia has an edge with PhysX, since it actually works and a bunch of games support it. The card also runs very hot. Download the latest drivers from AMD as soon as you plug it in. Setting fan speed at 35% keeps it cool and quiet. You may have some trouble fitting the card in, but I crammed one in a Micro ATX case anyway. Only 512 Mb VRAM, which seems to shortchange this card a bit. 1GB would have been better.

(Not really a con, but I bought this card elswhere and I wish I bought it here! It's cheaper at the Egg.)

Other Thoughts: The card is highly flexible in a number of ways. Does high resolutions no problem: Plays Crysis and CoD 4/5 at 1920x1080 flawlessly. AA is practically free, low performance impact at high resolutions, and pretty awesome performance all around. Couple this with a niiiice new Phenom II, and you're in business.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Runs great, a big improvement over my 8800 GTS

Cons: Runs hot, have to run fan on manual at least at 40% otherwise the temps climp up into 70C at idle. I will never buy form this manufacture again. They denied my rebate because I ordered the card before midnight. But I did not get it until 3 days later, that's just not right.

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality for price

Pros: I bought this card on special for 164.99 brand new. For this price I could not ask for anything better. I havant been having the problems I hear all the time about the cooling. It runs at a steady 45-50c. I did have to adjust the fan setting to run at 42%. It ran the free STALKER game that came with it maxed out with out any problems.

Cons: The only 2 cons I see are one, when I play WoW (Yes im one of those guys) and are in a Raid with 25 people, I get some stutter when all the damage numbers start flying across the screen. It could be network lag, but I have a 20mbit connection so Im not sure if its that or the card. Con two is this thing could pose a problem for some people with low wattage PSU's because it is a power hog. I run a 800w myself, so I hav emore than enough. Even though they reccomend a 550-watt, I would definatly go for a bigger one for this card so you have a buffer zone.

Other Thoughts: I really like this card, and cant complain very much since I got it for a steal of a price. I would definatly buy again even at full price.
