4 out of 5 eggsIt's a good card.

Pros: It will play all the games that I want to play on high settings.

Stays relatively cool.

Cons: I'm guessing this is from the gpu, but after an extended period of playing time it starts to throw specs of what I'm guessing is oil from one of the fan's bearing, onto my case window and onto my mobo. The specs are relatively lined up with the video card itself.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the con's that I mentioned, its a pretty good card for the money and hasn't caused any damage to my system and I hope it won't in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsHOT!!! (not in a good way)

Pros: *Fantastic performance in games Metro 2033, Bioshock Inf,Hitman Absolution, and ARMA 3 beta Max Settings minus Physx @1080p
*HDMI port hooray finally for me!
*Quiet on idle, case fans are louder
*4 New Games! (3 when I got it)

Cons: *HOT!!!!!!!
*Stock speeds I normally don't OC GPU's
*Idles at 29C
*Load at 88C+
*Loud as heck on just 80%+
*This card is not crossfired, nothing in adjacent slots, auto fan control per AMD CCC and proper airflow.
*This card only has 2 heatpipes do not be fooled by the pictures. XFX changed this, but newegg failed to update the pictures!!!

Other Thoughts: I have bought XFX products before nVidia 6600GT, nVidia 7800gt, never had any problems and they where great cards at the time. This 7870 is by far the hottest running card I have ever owned.
My girlfriend bought this for me and I was hoping to buy another once I upgraded my motherboard to one that supports crossfire. However I will probably not seeing as the card gets as hot as it does. Having another blocking airflow sounds like a bad idea.
If you are looking for a great card that gives you head room to OC this is not that card.
I wanted to wait to do my review so the card had time to get burned in, but since the "get go" it has been very hot. Even after upgrading my case and adding fans. I am using the Cooler Master Storm Trooper with all optional fans installed! Unfortunately for me I am past my 30 days with Newegg so I must deal with XFX now.
I am very disappointed with XFX I will be contacting there support line in the next day to see about alternatives or resolutions. I should not have to pay $100 more for an aftermarket cooler just so my card does what it does as advertised!
I have seen the same issue with others with this card after looking on forums. I would recommend getting the ASUS or MSI version as they run much cooler at full load (65C~) The Double Dissipation Fans on this suck.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

Pros: Plays everything I throw at it on high to ultra settings right out of the box.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I play mostly guild wars 1& 2, but also the new Tombraider and Bioshock that came with it. Skyrim, Crysis 2, others like them, all run on highest settings. This thing rocks.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price was right, came with free games. Huge upgrade from an ATI 5670.

Cons: I took one egg off because one of the fans was slightly making contact with the metal housing that surrounds it, causing a really loud ticking noise. I was able to pull up on the housing to get some clearance, and it solved the issue.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance so far!

Pros: Plays the newest games on near or full max settings. I've tested some:

Guild wars 2: Max Settings
Tomb Raider (recent one): Max/Ultimate settings.
Far Cry 3 : Ultra settings, Although reducing some aspects improve performance.

Quite, much quieter than the case fans i have, which are barely noticeable.

No serous hardware or software issues to date.

Cons: I doesn't seem to come with a built in temperature sensor. That or the programs i have been using before this upgrade to monitor temp just don't recognize it.

Other Thoughts: Its worth noting that the product you are buying isn't exactly what you get in the box. I didn't mind it because the product you actually get is the Radeon R-7870 Black Edition overclocked.-which has worked fine. Its similar but with a higher clock speed and unlike the photos shown, has two heat pipes instead of four.

5 out of 5 eggsONE WORD - BEAST

Pros: Excellent card. Runs everything I threw at it with highest settings. Came with a download coupon for Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider. It chews both these games up! I like the more open ended heatsink design as opposed to the usual closed box with the ridiculously loud impeller style fan that comes on most cards. It's very quiet.

Cons: Runs a little hot sometimes. XFX claims this Double D (double dissipation) heatsink and fan assembly helps the card run 7 degrees Celsius cooler. I think it does a little better than that but I don't have a stock style heatsink and fan to make any sort of comparison.

Other Thoughts: I'm soon going to get an ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme III VGA Cooler. I installed one on my old Radeon HD 4870 X2 and it ran everything 30 degrees Celsius cooler. Anything to help your card run cooler is a sound investment since the card itself is usually the most expensive component in an AMD rig. Not a fan of any liquid cooling. You know the old saying, electricity and water don't mix.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card with a few bugs

Pros: It can run nearly anything at Ultra quality with multimonitor setups. Win7 gives it a healthy 7.9 rating, and it's nice and quiet after it revs up. The thing's a bit long, though, and will probably be more at home in a Full ATX case, not a Mid like mine.

Cons: No matter what arrangement of 3 screens I use, either the DVI screens or the DP screen will have VSync Tearing, which is extremely annoying. Also, when using regular panoramic view, the cursor goes corrupt between screens REGULARLY, which is even more annoying.

Other Thoughts: Give it space and let it do its thing. You won't be disappointed. AMD will hopefully get on their drivers soon and fix the tearing and cursor corruption issues, as you can see complaints all over the net about both problems.

1 out of 5 eggsConstant card failures, horrible customer service

Pros: If it worked, it would be a good basic gaming card for the price point.

Cons: The first card worked fine for about a month before I started getting system freezes with a gray screen with vertical lines. The card was RMA'd and a new one was sent. The new card now freezes in all games. I have tried to communicate with XFX multiple times in the last couple weeks with no response other than to ask me to repeat troubleshooting I had already explained I had tried. At this point, they have not followed up on my tickets any further.

I EVEN TRIED CONTACTING THE EMAIL THEY RESPOND TO REVIEWS WITH ('neweggsupport@xfxforce.com') AND THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO RESPOND!

Other Thoughts: So far a huge waste of money and time. If I do not receive a satisfactory resolution soon, I plan to contact the BBB regarding their supposed lifetime warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Frustrated, please check your spam mail from 4/28. I believe your email sorted me to the waste folder. Please respond when you find it, or send a 2nd mail if you cannot find it. Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGood, but just make sure...

Pros: Card is quite good, and does everything as advertised. Wonderful to OC. Smooth fps in Planetside 2 and farcry.

Cons: It is noticeably louder than my previous card, but makes up for it with far greater performance.

Other Thoughts: If you plan to play a game with PhysX (like planetside 2) then remember that this card will not do it. I was a bit sad to find out that no AMD card will run PhysX. Still i do like the ability to overclock quite a bit with not tearing/blue screens.
