4 out of 5 eggsSolid card

Pros: Very fast high bitrate and came with three games, which I wanted to use as a gift on steam, however it links to your account as soon as you enter the activation code. Drivers and support are strong and no issues with windows 8

Cons: I play tf2 regularly and this game is nearly eight years old. I, for whatever reason, cannot play this game at over 60 fps on the highest settings. My old 460 gtx was running at higher frame rates in many cases. Be sure to pair this card with a strong motherboard. Other than tf2, the card dominates every new game with ease.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade ur motherboard too

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it!!!!!

Pros: I Own 2 of these cards in a Crossfire Config and they run Incredible

Cons: NONE so Far

Other Thoughts: I prefer this setup over the 79xx series cause i also have 32GB system memory and am able to dedicate from that, but 2GB is more than enough for video memory

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Value

Pros: High graphics processing
Easy Installation
Low power consumption - works on a 460 Watt PSU without any problems
Small Size insures it will fit in any mid atx case
Price (while on sale) reflects the power very well.

Cons: um... cant put full anti aliasing on very high settings on crisis 3 without going under 30 fps, but standard FXAAS keeps you at around 45 fps on very high.

Other Thoughts: If you can find it for around the low end of $200, do yourself a favor and snag it up :)

1 out of 5 eggs2 Defective Cards, Very Bad Customer Support

Pros: When the card works properly it does seem to perform reasonably well. The big part of that statement is "when"

Cons: Brand new card came defective, though was not DOA. I was experiencing numerous errors and bad performance across a number of applications that all worked perfectly with my much older EVGA GTS 450. Submitted for the first RMA and received a card that had a defective fan shroud after waiting two weeks. This told me that they obviously did not test the card I was being sent, or it was damaged in the shipping process (they don't pack the cards in anything but the retail box-which just seems to be asking for damage to happen in transit). At this time I was informed by XFX that I can either be sent parts to fix it myself, or wait another 2-3 weeks for a 2nd RMA. I was told they are not able to do an advanced RMA even after a second defective card.

The customer support for XFX has had absolutely no sense of urgency or empathy during the last 6 weeks I've been dealing with them and I have regularly been given status updates (only when I ask for them, never proactively) that turn out to be completely false, such as "this is set to ship out to you in the next 24 hours and you will receive a tracking ID via email". When 48 hours passes (and you are 2 weeks into a second RMA where you and the tech support have been give explicit detail of what is wrong with the card) and you hear nothing, if you call them to ask why the card hasn't shipped they won't know why.

Other Thoughts: If you get the card and never have an issue with it, this card is probably a reasonable value. If you have any sort of problem with it, be prepared for a nightmare of a customer service experience.

I had been a longtime, die-hard EVGA customer and thought I would give an AMD graphics card maker a shot... the way this experience has gone I will most certainly never buy from XFX again (and tell everyone i know that builds their own machines to do the same), and at this point I am tempted to tell them to just keep the card and go buy a GTX 660 Ti. How XFX thinks they can compete with their horrid customer service/ tech support in a market with manufacturers like EVGA that give exceptional support and comparable performance is beyond me.

1 out of 5 eggsXFX = Bad Quality

Pros: This card was cheap. Total cost was $187 with rebate and promo code.

Cons: This is the second time that I had to return a 7870 XFX card. The first one had a coil whine which was clearly audible when the card was at 50% load.

The replacement card that I ordered has manufacturing defects that cause the fan's power cable to vibrate against the metal heatsink. The fan's power cable is too short and doesn't fit the little chamber that it is supposed to fit in.

Also I noticed that the heatsink is missing 2 screws on the bottom holding the metal cover to the heatsink, which doesn't bode well on the quality.

Other Thoughts: Never bought XFX cards before, and don't plan to again. The quality of the two cards that I received from XFX are of surprisingly poor quality and should never have passed quality control.

I advise you to spend a few extra bucks and save yourself from making repeat trips to the post office.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: Very Powerful graphics card for the money.
Although a bit big, it's by no means bigger than most other cards- some people here have said otherwise, but it fit my Thermaltake Soprano perfectly.
the 2 PCI-E 6 pin adapters are on the front side of the card, not on the back. This means no wires sticking out where your Hard-drives would normally be, I really like that feature.
the double dissipation fans are a great add in- very quiet and efficient, I have had no issues at all with coolingg the card while maxxing out current gen games.

Cons: The drivers disc included would simply not install on my machine- and it was pretty difficult to find drivers from XFX's poorly worded website.
When I received the card, it was obviously NOT a new card. there was no thin layer of protective plastic anywhere on the card and the brackets were slightly bent as it if hat been yanked out of another machine. Easily bent back into place and no marring on the unit, but I didn't like that at all. Not worth it, in my opinion to send it back for another.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great card for the money. Came with several free games, of which I only received 2 at time of writing.

the card was obviously at least test in another machine, as the brackets had been bent outwards and there was no film on it. Annoying, but not worth waiting for a return in my opinion.

Runs games as everyone here has stated, ultra settings on most, high settings on Crysis 3.

I am happy with the card, but no case badge (the cool case badge only comes with the "Black' edition) and broken drivers- as well as the bent brackets significantly reduced my opinion on the company XFX. Their website is barely navigable and poorly worded- and I am still pretty sure I don't have the correct drivers for this unit.

I contacted their support the moment I got the card, which made me register the serial and am still waiting for an email back.

The issues listed were barely enough to remove 1 Egg, and it is IMO all on XFX to fix at this point.

1 out of 5 eggsNot suitable for bitcoin mining

Pros: Turned on without issues.

Cons: Got two cards this week. Both got above 85C with cgminer config file used with other 7870 cards and shut down within 1 minute. Auto gpu and fan throttled the card to barely above 1020MHz at 82C. One card's fan was making high pitch noise. Second card fan was ok, but card had overall lower performance, throttling below 1000.

Other Thoughts: Overall performance was 30% lower than other cards I have. I got a really good deal on these cards ($189) but now sent back for refund. I figured if one makes high pitch noise and another can't perform at advertised 1GHz speed, they need to go.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, We're sorry you experienced issues with these cards. In the future when you are having performance related issues using multiple cards on platforms, please contact us on how to approach these issues individidually. I believe this was a software issue and could have been resolved by simple means. Okay, If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and let us know. Mark

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is an excellent card for 1080p gaming today. Though this is not a "factory overclock" card, the 1 GHz base clock is more than enough for excellent performance in all games available today. Paired with the right processor, this card can run today's games in ultra detail (well, high in Crysis 3) with no problems at all.

Cons: None really to speak of. It's a large card, but it's upper midrange/lower high end, so that's to be expected.

3 out of 5 eggsCard works great but is built poorly

Pros: The card itself is a great price and it came with a bundle of Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. I get over 30 fps on the most recent graphic intense games and easily 40+ or 50+ on most other games with all graphics settings maxed out.

Cons: The XFX casing that was advertised is a neat idea and looks great but after installing the card only one fan worked. When I turned off the computer and examined the card I discovered that the heat sink under the fan was loose and that the metal case around the fans was hitting the fan. I had to tighten the heat sink and gently push the fan away from the metal case on the card. After doing this the first time the fan began to work but produced a loud clicking sound on the metal. It took about 10 more times of pushing the fan out and everything else in to finally get the fan far enough away to stop making that awful sound.
