3 out of 5 eggsHD 7870

Pros: Runs all my games well and at max settings. Very smooth not too loud.

Cons: I've had it for 8 months and has died on me already. VERY disappointing seeing how my last card from the same manufacturer lasted me 4 years.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, sometimes these things happen, fortunately the warranty is here to protect you from this.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh end card in the middle of the road.

Pros: Overall good value

Cons: Inadequate cooling

Other Thoughts: The main positive of this card was excellent value for the level of performance that it offers. It can easily max out virtually any game you throw at it. The only game that I haven't been able to comfortably max out thus far was Metro: Last Light. The card also blends in well with most colour schemes, if you're into that sort of thing.

The main negative of this card is its cooling, which is only just adequate for the task. The fan has problems keeping temperatures under 70 degrees C while running GPU-intensive applications and can get very loud under such conditions. Stock fan speed for idle temps is also just a bit too loud for my tastes.

So far, no serious issues have arisen with the product. However, I remain wary about the long-term prospects of this card.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card on a budget

Pros: Pretty snappy card, bought as part of a budget combo, and it has done its job very well.
It's pretty quiet, and relatively cool, even under load, so that's another plus.
This certainly isn't the highest performing card out there, but for the money, i'd say its a good buy.

Cons: None that i can think of

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We are happy you are pleased.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Crummy Cooler

Pros: This card was a pretty good value when I bought it a year ago. It's been put through the gauntlet and runs almost anything cranked up, even with my dated (Phenom II X6 1055T) CPU bottle-necking some games.

Cons: The heat sink shroud buzzes terribly, since very shortly after I bought it. I removed the shroud probably <6 months in, and then the fan bearing went. The card ran fairly hot to begin with, as do most ATI cards, but the heatsink setup on this card was poor to begin with.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's a good card, and I'm working on a custom cooling setup, but I have a frustration with graphics cards' terrible cooling systems, a great deal of the time. The best solution seems to be a blower type fan that sends everything straight out the back of the case without fuss. The design on this GPU, like many others, blows the air both toward the back and front of the case, and up against the metal backplate. This obviously doesn't dissipate heat well, so the card runs hotter as a result. Why not blow it all out the back, and have a fully enclosed shroud?

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the positive review. The fan designs are engineering choices far beyond my involvement.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: good FPS gains over my old 5770.
looks pretty awesome

Cons: a few weeks into having this card installed I started having system locking glitches while just browsing the internet, or on the desktop. It's happened 6 times since christmas, tried reseating it and no change. :(

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Goldfish,

Hopefully its just a driver issue. It could be Ram as well, being another likely candidate. Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com

5 out of 5 eggsSo happy I bought another

Pros: Bought the first one, was really happy, when it was a daily deal/w rebate/holiday-5% off I got a second one for crossfire. GPU scaling has gotten better over time, some of the more modern games will get near perfect scaling. My 3D Mark score in crossfire is higher than the high end gamming PC score that is listed (intel 4770k with single Titan) and my whole system was only 20% more than the price of a single Titan.

Cons: Some developers are behind when it comes to multi-gpu support and not every game engine scales well even when there is a crossfire profile for it. The only reason I wont knock an egg for this is because you can turn crossfire off at any time and a single card is more than enough to play any current game on high or ultra settings.

Other Thoughts: The second card, while exactly the same make/model/manufacturer was built differently. while some things are better (there is a better fan/heatpipe setup in the newer card and it is quieter) the newer card operating at a higher voltage. the difference in voltage meant even the slightest overclock would make the computer crash. The was able to be corrected by putting the newer card in the PRIMARY graphics card spot. Also, regardless of what you think is the right PCIe slot, double check your manual-having the second card stuck in PCIe 2.0 4x mode WILL slow you down needlessly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card.

Pros: Excellent card. Able to play games on high settings. Maintains temp, but I wonder how it will handle in the summer.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Fans are loud. I put it here cause I don't care about that that much since the games are usually louder or I forget about the sound all together.

5 out of 5 eggsPlays BF4 like a champ

Pros: BF4 @ 1920x1080

Plays the game at high settings for sure and gets 40 to 60 FPS. Good bang for the buck card that will play BF4 really well.

Cons: Doesn't come with beer.

It's a big card as other mentioned. If you have a small or packed case I'd be nervous about putting it in there.
