5 out of 5 eggsBought this back in 6/2011

Pros: -Runs almost every game that is out today, Fallout 4 was its biggest problem, I am honestly really impressed with this card after almost 5 years, switched from 9800 GT to this and this card is what will keep me a loyal AMD/XFX fan.

Cons: -Runs a little loud under load but nothing crazy

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We are happy you are pleased.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat a trooper!

Pros: Cheap when I bought it waaaaaay back in 2011.
Cleans up easily with canned air.

Cons: Noisy as heck.

Other Thoughts: Bought this in 2011 after my poor 9800GT died. It did it's job well til I upgraded to a 7850 (got it at a yard sale of all places) then it went into my son's PC. It's lived a long and happy life letting him play Skyrim and such. I'm upgrading to a 970 FTW+ so he'll be getting my 7850 and we'll finally let this beast retire. It was worth every penny.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Tim,

The story doesnt stop there. This card came with a lifetime transferrable warranty. You can always sell it to the next generation of gamers who need an upgrade (the 6850 is a great Dx11 card even today). The card that never stops giving.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Budget Card

Pros: I've had it since 2011 and it's handled everything I've thrown at it. I don't run games on max so there is that to consider. XFX has good customer service.

Cons: Fan is loud, eventually got to the point where the fan sounded like it was a jet taking off. Contacted XFX and they sent a replacement and that fixed the problem.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Really, I have no idea but it's been working for over a year now with no problems and I felt like it would be a shame if I didn't leave a review saying so.

4 out of 5 eggsSecond Review- Great Card

Pros: -bought this for 150
-OC's very well
-great software (amd home is fantastic)
-Controllable fan
-Destroys any game in it's path

I have had this card since november and I will tell you this thing is a beast. I run two monitors, both 1080p, no problem. I can get about 60 fps on skyrim and battlefield 3 on high and can max both of them out at about 30-40 fps (still playable).

This card is amazing in general, and don't think that you need to buy a 7 series to be able to play the most recent games, this will run any game no problem.

Cons: -Can run loudly
-Used to give splotchy patches in skyrim a lot, until i updated the software
I threw skyrim onto this baby and it was getting 5 fps lowest settings, all because i hadn't updated the software.

Other Thoughts: I really wish these were still sold. I want to crossfire two of these to see how amazing it would be, no doubtedly they would max any game out there no problem. I do a lot of hd video shooting/editing so when i play it back and encode it, it takes almost no time because of the software with the card. I love this card with all my heart and don't know why it was discontinued.

1 out of 5 eggsSure deactivated, but where's my refund?

Pros: It was nice and worked well at first

Cons: Constant freeze ups, I normally can't play my pc for more than 45 minutes without the system freezing up. At first I thought it was my processor so I replaced the stock heatsink to keep the temps way below max load. Turns out its my video card, after reading up online I have seen that many people have problems with this card and the 6870, it's a buggy piece of hardware and I can see why its being discontinued but what about the 1000's of people who got disappointed by a $150 investment and now must replace the card? I'm very annoyed and can guarantee I won't be buying radeon graphics cards in the future.

Other Thoughts: They should at least do what's right and either recall the cards or give refunds.

4 out of 5 eggsLoud fan

Pros: -Great overall design
-Fits in a Lian Li V351B MicroATX cube case
-Only requires 1x 6-pin power cable instead of two
-Provides audio over HDMI
-Handles 1080P widescreen Plasma TV with ease
-Includes overscan/underscan adjustments

Cons: -As others have noted, the fan is LOUD! At times it will be quiet but eventually it will start getting a loud rattling hum that would make you think a cable was rubbing up against it.

Other Thoughts: If it weren't for the loud fan I would give this a solid 5 eggs. As it is, I will be looking into trying to replace the fan that is on this card or be replacing the entire card in the near future.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice for The Price.

Pros: Fan isn't really that loud, and as soon as load decreases it speeds down, quickly, because this card really does run cool. You could probably slow the fan if you wanted to decrease the noise without running to hot. Most comparable cards make the same amount of noise, as these things are not normally packaged with high-quality bearing fans. And it's fast, performs amazing for the price. 1.5 Terra Flop processor for $150. Awesome. Finally get to play games in 19 by 1080 maxed out, with just a 64 bit dual core at 3.2Ghz, playing Deus-Ex now without a problem. Love this card.

Cons: XFX doesn't have the best support, and there was no mail-in rebate as promised, but hell, I'd pay 150 for this card.

Other Thoughts: Really doesn't need to be OC'd, but I had no problem getting the ram above 1000, try 1050 with 800Mhz on the core for a small but stable and low temp over-clock. Think it's best to keep logical ratios between the two. The performance boost at max OC is not that significant, and this card runs like a champ at default. It will probably crash at max OC if you don't make adjustments to the voltage and cooling. Try just the cooling if you have a high quality PSU.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks great...when there aren't any red lines

Pros: Very little pros. It's an XFX card, and it has 1 GB DDR5

Cons: Every now and then see red lines across monitor. Isn't the monitor. I was running an 8800GTS before this card and never experienced red lines. With this card, every now and then I see red lines run across my screen. Not very enjoyable...If XFX didn't want me to SEND the card back and wait to receive a new card or for them to refurb the card and sit here without a card, thatd be great. Would love it if they would send me a pre-paid package with the same card in it that I could just put my defective card into the pre paid package and send back without any lag time of not having a video card :/

4 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: Plays any game at Max Settings.
Came with most recent BIOS.
Runs cool (well 41-46C cool...I think I got it up to 56C once but I was purposely trying really hard to overheat it to see if it could handle it).
The Price Is Right (being a Gamer on a Budget this was the best I could afford).

Cons: Runs stable and cool O.C.'d/Unclocked at a Core Clock of 900 but the moment you up the Memory Clock above 1000 it burns up and starts shutting down from the heat. Even with the fan running at Max Speed it doesn't seem to like to run with the Memory Overclocked. :(

I run the fan at 40% most of the time and the sound is fine. It's noticeable but not annoying. However for several hours of gaming I bump it up to the default 70% and it is loud (granted, not as loud as the Stock Cooler on my CPU, or as loud as my old BFG 7800 GTO), but it's still loud enough to keep me from going to sleep at night if I didn't throttle it back down and left my computer running.

Other Thoughts: Speaking of BFG, this is the first non-BFG Video Card I have bought in the past decade since I replaced my Riva TNT2 in 2002. I thought XFX would pale in comparison, but so far I'm pleasantly surprised. They still aren't BFG, but they seem like the next best thing considering BFG is gone.

I got this card during a 24-hour promo with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dirt3, and Shogun 2. $159.99 worth of games for free with this Video Card (and a rebate to boot!). Economically this was a steal (although it sounds like from other reviews I shouldn't count on my rebate ever being honored). We will see. Regardless I got a bargain so I'm happy no matter what.
