5 out of 5 eggsMy Favorite Autocad Card

Pros: Small form factor.
Easy to instal.
Cool and quiet.
No additional power cables required.

Best drivers in town bar none.

Cons: A bit overpriced for a card that hasn't really changed in a few years.

Other Thoughts: I've ordered quite a few of theses for upgrades and new builds for all of our Revit and CAD workstations. Handles both well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Professional Card

Pros: Low power consumption, handles large models in Maya,Max,and Zbrush with ease. Kinda on par with the fx 3700 . It's very quiet
no complaint there. Much better than any gaming card on the market for Professional Applications.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsNice Pro/E Card

Pros: Perhaps the best value in a graphics card for Pro/Engineer. The 580 is very close in performance according to Pro/E graphic card benchmarks, as are the cards costing $1000's more. This is probably the one to have if you are doing real work. Sure you can probably get away with a gaming card for CAD, but you will be destroyed with lag when working on your drawings. Probably not much of a concern for you SWorks users out there, since it can't create a real engineering drawing anyways.

It's kind of nice that although I bought this card a long time ago I can reuse it in my new system build (with Intel 2600k).

Cons: New drivers don't necessarily work better (for Pro/E ~ Creo). It seems to like the recommended versions, and sometimes a little newer - but never the newest stuff. Typical for high-end software. Shouldn't be typical.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps only with the guidance of PNY tech support - consider checking and updating your graphics card firmware if you experience some type of issue that cannot be resolved through driver updates. I think it's one of those high commitment situations where once you do an update there is no going back. Could lead to the end of the world if you screw it up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat graphics

Pros: Great card for budget workstation graphics. I run 3 flat screens with this monitor no problems. (a 24" widescreen flanked by 2 19"). Autocad drivers are great and I can have drawing and all toolbars and windows open. Also runs games well. Starcraft 2 and Left 4 dead run great.

Cons: none.

5 out of 5 eggsRE: Solidworks

Pros: I do not own this card, while I owned similar cards, none have been as nice as this one. This is an entry level card but it has the performance of a much more expensive card.

Cons: To the reviewer that posted about solidworks; While the information that you gave is helpful and important there was no need to give the card a poor review. By your own admission, Its not the cards fault that you did not see results. The card is performing considerably better than the last card you had, you just can't take advantage of the performance increase. Always research before you purchase.

2 out of 5 eggscaution for SolidWorks users

Pros: good driver support

Cons: no performance improvement over nVidia FX580 in solidworks 2010

Other Thoughts: Caution Solidworks users, after months of extensive testing we have concluded that Solidworks barely uses the graphics hardware at all, making the CPU the primary performance limiting factor. If you google search SolidWorks benchmarks, you will find several sites that confirm the same thing, that the highest GHz CPU is more important than the video card, network, hard drives, or even memory speeds. I recommend against this card if you're looking for performance improvement, and against SolidWorks unless you feed it with the highest GHZ quad core and as much memory as your case can hold. Solidworks 2010 is terribly unstable anyways, but hopefully tale of caution will save you some grief =D

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Card

Pros: This card for an entry level card performs well above expectations. Used with 2 21in monitors at 1600 dpi it never lagged. Rendering in the highest quality and working with multiple parts and assemblies was seemless. Used in both Windows and Linux 64bit OS's. Ran Autocad's Architectural Desktop2010 64bit and Inventor 2010.

Cons: Still looking for one.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent, fast card for my needs.

Cons: Workstation graphics cards always seem overpriced.

Other Thoughts: It is the slowest component in my new system based around a i7-930. Win7Pro64 Windows Experience Index gives this a 6.7 with no overclocking but that's plenty good for my GIS applications.
