Step up to the Kepler architecture for amazing graphics performance and power efficiency with the EVGA GeForce GT 640 VGA card. It's based on the industry-leading 28nm technology and provides gorgeous DirectX 11 gaming and HD visuals at an unbeatable price. Hardware accelerated Blu-ray 3D playback enables the EVGA GeForce GT 640 VGA card to render stunning stereoscopic high-definition video with compatible displays and playback software. An array of NVIDIA innovations, such as NVIDIA Surround, NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync and the new FXAA Anti-aliasing Mode offers more than one way to elevate your gaming experience, bringing your entertainment and work to a new level like never before.

  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Simultaneously drive up to four independent 1080p displays for the ultimate multimedia or productivity workspace and expand a single application across all three displays for an immersive viewing perspective.
  • newegg FXAA AntiAliasing Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new antialiasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • newegg Blu-ray 3D Support Connect your PC to any 3D enabled TV over HDMI and enjoy a cinematic 3D experience in your home with seamless support for 1080p Blu-ray 3D discs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Cheap, fantastic quality, runs games like a champ, works for both osx and windows, and doesn't require a huge amount of power. I installed this in my mac pro and it takes on any challenge I throw at it.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: Decent price. good quality.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought two of these cards -- installed one in an AMD hex machine, Windows 8 and the other in an Intel X4 machine, Windows 7. They work flawlessly and run cool. I have recommended this card to others. I am not a heavy gamer -- Minecraft, TF2, Roblox -- this works great for them.

5 out of 5 eggsGeForce is amazing!

Pros: Nice design; well ventilated. Two HDMI slots, super fast for entry level gaming at high levels. Can run hardcore games well at low settings.

Cons: Requires 350W PSU, but isn't a burden for most people.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent gaming card

Pros: By excellent, I mean price/performance/power requirement. Plays what I needed it to, and does it well. Not a GTX 560Ti, but doesn't require the 6 pin power. Seems to be plenty quiet.

Cons: Not a con, and I haven't verified, but upon initial bootup as well as bringing the PC out of sleep mode, I believe the fan briefly goes 100% (which is plenty audible), and then settles back down. I say I haven't verified as this is a new build and other than the case fans and the stock CPU fan, that's all there is. Another machine with stock CPU fan doesn't do this, so I assume it's the video card.

Other Thoughts: It's running on a MSI ZH77A-G43, Intel G2020 CPU, G-Skill 8GB PC1600, and an inexpensive coolermaster 460 watt PSU. This particular PSU was ~20 bucks on sale here, has the 12 volt rail split in to two, each have a 18 amp rating and the output of this portion of the PSU being ~350 watts. Seems to be plenty for this video card. Other components in the PC are a WD blue 1TB hard drive and an Asus DVD/RW.

5 out of 5 eggsTiny but powerful!!

Pros: no external power required, nice fan and case, looks good! works well for what I'm using it for!

Cons: only 128 bit....and no glowing light

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to be used for a standalone physics processor to off load from my gtx 560 ti classified. Works very well!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my dedicated PhysX card

Pros: Price
No power plug needed
Runs cool - exhausts to the rear
Short card overall
2 gigs for this price point is excellent
Low power consumption

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: I bought this with the intent to use it as a dedicated physX card. In this capacity it is flawless. My personal FPS have increase 10 or more on ultra high graphics settings ( WoW - Borderlands 2 - GW2 - Neverwinter - A TON of games that can't utilize the power of my main GPU yet still managed to run better regardless )

My new rig was built with low power consumption and cool temps in mind. It is as follows for purposes of a complete review as to the system it is used in.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value Card

Pros: I bought this card for a family member to replace a Radeon HD 5450 that originally came with her computer so she could play some modern games decently at a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It runs a lot cooler with its 28nm Kepler architecture and great heat sink + fan, only reaching a max of 45°C while gaming and idling just a hair above room temperature. With the 314.22 drivers downloaded from NVIDIA's website, it received a PassMark PerformanceTest rating of 1322 for 3D graphics. There is no real noise difference between this card and the one that was passively cooled which it replaced, which is nice as well. The extra performance of this card compared to a GT 630 is well worth the little extra price.

Cons: Kind of odd that one DVI connector is DVI-I and one is DVI-D. This could pose a problem to someone who wants dual monitors with both monitors being analog and requiring a DVI to VGA adapter, since only DVI-I supports the adapter.

Other Thoughts: If you have the power supply capability and your processor is not going to be a bottleneck, it may be a better value in the long run for gaming if you invest a little more into a GTX 650 or GTX 650 Ti. However this suits my family members needs just well.
