4 out of 5 eggsOwned for over a year

Pros: Great graphics and visuals. Plays Skyrim(heavily modded btw), Star Wars The Old Republic, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas (also heavily modded with graphics updates) all on high settings without many glitches.

Cons: Doesn't make me a sandwich. Seriously, not even once. It doesn't make anything real where I could actually grab it, EVGA needs to work on this.

Other Thoughts: I didn't list this as a con because it isn't an issue specific to this device. After extended play, like as in 8 hours straight (yes, I have a problem) there are some heat related aliasing issues and other anomolies that can bug in. But, a restart fixes everything. I just think it's my computer forcing me to take a break.

4 out of 5 eggsOld but pretty good for teh mid range

Pros: Really solid if you game at 1080p or below I don't cause I prefer performance over eye candy, but it does handle several newer games like crysis, witcher, skyrim, and metro very well.

Can OC to about 1GHZ, though you need to overvolt and watch temps. I got 1GHZ on 1.15-1.188 through bios modding. This can easily compete with 560 Ti in some benches I've seen at this speed.

Cons: Not a true GTX 460 wish like my intel processors I was smart enough to spot difference, but I can max this card out V1 GTX 460 owners rarely break 900 or 800mhz on their cores. Wish the shroud around the card was higher quality or had better air flow.

Other Thoughts: Overall evga you have been as good as sapphire and asus have been to me look forward to buying more stuff I can push with little effort.

4 out of 5 eggsBurnt itself after 10 months

Pros: It's a good card, performs well for the price.
Fantastic customer support from EVGA (see below).

Cons: - This is incompatible with the first edition of the GTX 460.
- After ten months, my card seemed to blow itself up. My computer shut off when I left the room while I was playing a game, and I came back, switched out the power supply (thinking that was the problem). This card sparked blue and there was smoke and it smelt terrible. Keep in mind my computer is well-ventilated with a gold-rated power supply and the card wasn't overclocked. It literally burnt itself. However, EVGA will be sending me a new one once I send this out, so I really have no complaints about them.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card thinking it would work well with my other GTX 460. However, this is the second edition of the card, and unless you really search for it, it's easy to overlook the fact that they are incompatible together. There's hardly any difference in the performance of the two when I play games.

4 out of 5 eggsawesome budget gpu

Pros: Great graphics card

Cons: I had to RMA my card because the fan didn't work. Other than that, great card! I can get extreme settings on SC2 at about 50 FPS.

Card doesn't work 'out of the box' with linux. You have to set a nomodeset and then get akmod drivers installed.

Other Thoughts: That's it.

3 out of 5 eggsSo far so good so what

Pros: So far so good . this is taking the place of my now dead GTS 8800 CARDS that weir SLI ed . Dose run a little better then the to of them together but NOT AS GOOD so I'm getting another to SLI this one .

Cons: DON'T WASTE your money on the extra fast shipping ripoff . I payed for the super fast SHIPPING because it was 6:00 am eastern time and wanted to get this by Friday . Well they didn't send it out till Thursday anyway , so I didn't get it till Monday .
As for the card I'll know next year when the warranty runs out . If it still running it's good mostly it will be dead like the rest after a year .

Other Thoughts: SAVE YOUR MONEY ON THE RIPOFF $3-4 DOLLARS MORE FOR FASTER SHIPPING !

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsAmazing Performance, yet questionable build quality.

Pros: Card runs much, much cooler than my 8800GTX. 40-42C doing simple websurfing, music listening and light work. Card goes between 64-80C under load, depending on how GPU intensive the game is.

Runs Skyrim on High at 60FPS without fail, Ultra is 60FPS almost all of the time. The Witcher 2 performs very smoothly but not steadily at medium-high settings. Alan Wake runs very well at medium-high as well.

Cons: I had to RMA this card shortly a month after buying it. The card failed so spectacularly it caught fire in my case! I have been building computers since I was young and have never had a part throw a fireball like this. It took my 8800GTX 6 years to give up the ghost, running at a near 80-90 for most of its life!

I have looked online and found several cases of this card blowing caps in the same way mine did. I don't know if there was just a bad batch or what, but beware.

Support was quick to respond via Email but the RMA took over two weeks to get settled. I now have the replacement card and it seems to be holding up but...

...the card has an incredibly unusual and STRONG plastic smell to it. The first card had the smell, the RMA replacement does as well. Once in the computer you can't really smell it unless you've got your nose at the back of the case. But once in a game for a bit and the temps rise, hoo man does that smell come back with a vengeance.

Other Thoughts: I'm mostly happy with the upgrade I've made from the old BFG 8800GTX, that thing deserves a medal for its service and how well it held up with todays games. This GTX 460 lets me play my games just as well in some cases, better in most. It's really a hard working card and assuming you get one that doesn't throw a hadouken at you I'd say it is worth the money.

For now though, I have to only give it 3 eggs out of 5 because of the first one's quick death. If this one turns out to last, I'll be back to update with a better score.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I do apologize if you are having issues with the replacement. I would recommend you check the temperature of the card to see if its overheating with a tool such as precision (evga.com/precision). If the card is under 90C it should be fine, at that point you may want to monitor the voltage on the 12v rail to see if its over volting the card. If you are still having issues please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card, great price; in SLI it should outperform $400+ cards

Pros: Runs cool, fan isn't loud even under load, 1gb of VRAM means you can run higher resolutions without your framerate tanking; overall a great value.

Cons: Only thing I can think of is that it has a mini-HDMI port instead of a full. Not a big deal since it comes with an adapter cable though.

Other Thoughts: For people complaining that your performance dropped with this card versus a inferior card; that's not an issue with the 460, that's an issue with your windows install. The 32bit version of windows 7 has a max of 4GB RAM TOTAL. Meaning, video card ram counts against your total (look at your ram numbers in your computer info, it'll say 4GB total, 3.25GB available after installing the 460). Install the 64 bit version (the retail windows 7 box comes with a disc for either, and the same registration number works for both) to be able to utilize up to 32gb of RAM, so you'll get all your system memory and the gtx 460s VRAM. Easy peasy.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice Card, Runs cool Good value.

Cons: 3 months in started making strange sound, NOT THE FAN but an electrical hummmm. Sounds like a battery charger at 6 Amp charge

Other Thoughts: Build quality not what I expected from EVGA

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

What you are describing is often refered to as "coil whine". It is generally caused by your power supply or inductors on the card itself. If possible try other PCIe power cables. If the problem persists and you have another power supply to test with please do so. If the problem persists or you are unable to test with another power supply please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Card

Pros: Looks great, good performance

Cons: None really

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a Radeon 4870 1GB. There is a noticeable increase in performance. I wasn't blown away on the performance in older games (mostly play CS:S). This card does perform better on more modern games however. I bought this card because it fit my budget at the time, if you are in a similar position, I wouldn't hesitate on this card.
