1 out of 5 eggsPlease Correct Newegg!!!!!!!!

Pros: Ok let me start by saying i almost purchased this card but due to doing my homework i didnt. The specs on this card are wrong and being miss led to think its a 5970 2gb card without DX11, open GL 3.2 and eyefinity. This card only has 1600 sp i assure you of that and has been tested as that. I went to a local store that had this exact card after researching it and they tested it and confirmed the specs. Im not saying this isnt a great card in its right but dont be fooled thinking your getting a 5970 for this price like i thought i might get.

Cons: I please ask newegg to correct there specs error before you get an angry mob asking why they got a card with 1/2 the specs they were exspecting after purchase. I love newegg and i just want to warn them and people before they plop there money on the counter and ultimatly end up dissapointed and upset.

Other Thoughts: If im somehow incorrect and someone can conform with screen shots that these are they specs of this card id like to see them. Like i said i had a store test the same brand, same version, same everything and these are not the correct specs. If you buy this card now after seeing this review please dont get mad because its still not what you exspected and thought we might be wrong, you have all been warned and newegg rocks lets just correct this error.

3 out of 5 eggsNewegg broke...?

Pros: Nope

Cons: Nope

Other Thoughts: Look at the specifications people, the 4870 cars only have 800sp's, the 4870 X2 therefore only has 1600sp, this states that it has 3200sp. I highly doubt the validity of this product and would simply attribute its apperance on Newegg as a fluke of some sort.

2 out of 5 eggsThis one was a no-go

Pros: Played Crysis with all settings maxed at ~30FPS. Also ran Batman visibly well.

Cons: Card would not allow my system to sleep (Windows 7). I swapped it out with my old 4870, and this problem went away. Also, I noticed that the package had already been opened when I got it. I got this off the shell-shocker deal 2 weeks ago, and it says retail, but this could be a possible re-furb... have no idea.

Also noticed some adhesive oozing out of the board on the side of the power plugs.

Other Thoughts: RMA for this card.

5 out of 5 eggsFast card

Pros: I played old games. BF2, BF 1942, Doom 3,Half life 2, TF 2, Quake 4. My games is smoother and faster. I love it. I have yet to try new games like Crysis. I upgraded from x850xt.

Cons: Radeon 5870 is out & available. If i'm you I will buy the 5870. As fast as the 4870 x2 but w/ newer tech.

Other Thoughts: My new system: Core i7 920 oc to 3.3, corsair 6 gb 1600, raptor 300 gb, asus p6t deluxe, cm atcs 840, pc/power cooling 910 w, xfi, 27 inch hanns g. Love it

1 out of 5 eggsToo Bad!!!

Pros: This card has a great design.

Cons: Runs really hot!

Other Thoughts: To Fix the heat issue:
On the card itself is a little wire harness with a black, red, yellow, and a blue wire plugged into it. 4 wires total going directly to the cooling fan. unplug the little harness and pull the clip harness from the card and remove the yellow and blue wires from the clip. These two wires allow the card and computer to control the fan speed Which is only about 60 rpm. The red and black wires allow direct power with no speed control which allows the fan to run full speed all of the time and keep the card cool.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a card

Pros: Powerful card
Lifetime Warranty
Another Ai quality product

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have been a fan of ati for longer then I can remember, I replaced my long standing 3870x2. I do not regret my purchase, and in fact. I am getting another one of these cards for quadfire.

Sure the 5870's are out. But I would go with this card, because it has stood the test of time and doesn't have nearly as many bugs as the new generation of cards will have.. DX 11?? Give me a break, save your money and buy 2 of these cards. You will not be disappointed!

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware!

Pros: I love the Radeon 4870 X2 VGA cards. I have been running two of these cards in crossfire for a year. One of them died, so I decided to get one of these as a replacement. This VisionTek card worked for a couple of days.

Cons: The card had physical damage right out of the box: The ATX mounting bracket was bent at a 45 degree angle! No signs of physical damage to either the shipping box or the retail box. This supposedly new card died after a couple of days. Please see the "Other thoughts" section below before concluding I am just another whiner...

Other Thoughts: NewEgg is shipping these cards from their "RMA Warehouse." That's what the return address said on the UPS shipping label. In other words, it appears as though NewEgg is trying to recycle either theirs or someone else's faulty merchandise. These cards are refurbished junk. Buyer beware!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This card is awesome. It stays cool when you put the fan to 50%, it runs just about everything you throw at it maxed out. I run Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Ghostbusters, GRID, Street Fighter 4, and Assassin's Creed all maxed out. GTA4 is the only game that gives me issues due to the insane requirements for maxing that game out. However, you can still set the graphics options very high. I have not been disappointed and get exactly what i was expecting as far as performance goes.

Cons: I would say price, but you are basically getting 2 4870's on one board, and when i bought this card, 4870's were going for $250. So $414 (where the price is at the moment) is a bargain as far as i am concerned. i paid $500 (6 months ago) and its worth every penny. The one real issue i have with it is drivers. The card causes my system to crash from time to time. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and i believe the drivers are kind of buggy. However, on XP32 i have never had an issue.

Other Thoughts: My system is as follows:
Asus Rampage II Extreme
Intel Core i7 Extreme 3.2 GHz
Visiontek Radeon HD 4870X2
12 GB OCZ X-Treme Series DDR3 1066 RAM
Western Digital Caviar Black 7200 RPM 1TB HD X2 in a RAID 0 Configuration
Pioneer BD-R Drive

Just had to rant about my first BEAST of a computer. I am thinking about getting another 4870X2 fairly soon.
I love it.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from Visiontek

Pros: The performance is extremely good.

Cons: Horrifying customer service, high breakdown rate, VERY HOT

Other Thoughts: I bought this card back in December. I installed it in January and by April it was crashing on Fallout 3 and Halo 2. I sent it in and waited TWO MONTHS before they sent me back a card that was still broken. I sent it in again and I'm hoping it will come back soon. If you want to buy the Radeon HD 4870 X2, you would do well not to buy it from Visiontek.

4 out of 5 eggsNice card, bad brand

Pros: Card is very fast and can handle most games on their highest settings with high frame rates.

Cons: Card really pumps out some heat. Make sure your room has some decent air flow otherwise this thing acts like a mini space/room heater. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND. Their customer service is the worst I have ever come across. You CANNOT even talk to a person, they are only open 9-5 and are very slow with email. Don't be fooled by their Lifetime Warranty. They do follow it, but you will jump through hoops, wait a few weeks, and get mad doing it. Plus it will cost you shipping both ways out of your pocket. My RMA card they sent me was defective so again I have to send the card back out of my pocket. So in the end, it will have costed me around $40 just to get a working card and waited a couple months doing it.
