5 out of 5 eggsacperience_7

Pros: -Quiet
-Great Cooling Performance (max 74C in Xfire)
-ULPS seems to well with this generation (2nd card will turn off when not being used)
-Very nice cooler/bracket. I'm sure it helps considering how heavy the cooler is and the size of the card.
-They suck less power than my last setup which was Tri-fire.

Cons: -Heavy cooler

Other Thoughts: I had 2 of these for Xfire, and they ran very strong! On my setup I could get a 9700 in Firestrike (Performance) consistently (had a 4670k @ 3.6 boost on all cores). Ran my games very well too.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate for " Gen 3 is Awesome!!!" 2 years later

Pros: While my original video card is still cranking out the power I have added a second identical card and cross-fired the two. Completely amazing results with cross-fire with none of the stuff computer enthusiast's often complain about with this set-up. What a huge boost to FPS in all games of 30-50%.

Firestrike benchmark scores went from 5300 with the single HD7870 to a score of 8699 with two in Cross-fire. Then with another more recent upgrade to an i7 4770k OC'd to 4500mhz the Firestrike score sits at 9307. Comparable to, or beats an i7 with GTX Titan, GTX780 or R9 290.

Battlefield 4 on Ultra settings with full AA runs at a steady 144 FPS

No need to upgrade for another generation of video cards.

Cons: Zero!

Other Thoughts: Original Review Posted 04/16/2012

-Huge upgrade from my GTX 560 2gb card.
-Out benchmarks the GTX 580 by a long shot.
-Runs BF3, Skyrim, Batman AC all at 60 fps with no lag, all settings maxed out.
-Runs Rift at 48-50 fps on full settings (everything maxed...up from 32 fps with the GTX560)
-Renders Graphics Beautifully
-Runs very cool...idles at 24c...48c-55c under load.
-Currently overclocked to 1222/1330 with no adjustment to voltage.
-7.9 on WEI
-3DMark 11 Basic = 7429 with OC

-Drivers need work (time fixes that)
-Use to NVidia (however I love this card...well done AMD)
-Not fond of software package....I deleted the Catalyst Control Centre and opted to use MSI Afterburner...seems to have increased fps and benchmarking.
-Does not function with Gigabytes Easytune 6
-Nothing worth losing an egg over.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card, but not the best

Pros: I bought this card fairly cheap (was on sale). It runs great for the gaming PC I built, almost a year later it still runs great. I can play all the major games (AAA titles) on max settings with decent frame rates and it can handle them with little trouble.

Cons: after about 6-7 months the card can run a little loud, not a big deal to me because I play with headphones and I don't really notice it. It's a pretty big card, so not for a small build. It does have some trouble with a few games but nothing to serious, can run a little warm also.

Other Thoughts: I am happy with it, it has cross fire capabilities and even came with a crossfire bridge. I recommend those building a gaming pc to check this card out if a budget is a priority. So far it has held up to dozens of games ranging from 2d side scrollers to complex games like Arma 2-3, tomb raider, Bioshock infinite, elder scrolls 5, and dozens more all at max settings (Arma 3 at high settings when playing multiplayer). I might buy a second one and crossfire it, or build a second tower for a friend with this card in it.

5 out of 5 eggscool, quiet, powerful

Pros: I have never seen this card go higher than 65c, even playing bf3 on ultra.
The three fans make very little noise. I am planning to get another one for crossfire.

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsNot so great.

Pros: On the up side, this card is running very cool. Although i do have a High Air Flow tower. I have kept the temperatures maximum at 50c during any gaming without even touching fan speeds. (40% is the default for the graphics fan RPM)

Cons: This is where i have problems. Even though my temperatures are great, every no an then i will have artifacts. It really just depends on the game and I have done everything i can to figure out the problem. It doesnt do it on every game, or even the best games. Sometimes ill have slightly ones on an old game such as "Age of Empires II HD" or "Guildwars". But if i run skyrim with 2k texture packs and ultra high quality like i have recently , i get no problems at all.
All in all, i regret getting this card for the $199 i paid.

Other Thoughts: Not really much else to say. Its a 50/50 as to whether ill get artifacts in a game or not and i havnt found one solution to the problem.
Also, I am running an normal clock speeds straight from the box in case you were wondering.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: pretty much the same card our next-gen systems are using.

Cons: Memory timing chip died on me.

Other Thoughts: First card to ever go out on me. I had a lucky streak that had to end with the most pricey component.

1 out of 5 eggsProblematic

Pros: Very fast, great FPS, OC capacity good (but i never was able to)

Cons: Crashes after 20 minutes playing FS2004 even under clocked which is all i was able to do on the OC subject.

Other Thoughts: I had a lot of issues from freezing to crashing... i tried windows 8 and 7 home, ultimate and even enterprice and also never worked just crashes after 20 minutes into the game or 20 minutes with MSI afterburner while i was checking for stability... this card is no good for FS2004 atleast as i know since is all i play... i never noticed it crashing during Idle on the computer like some others have said around the Net. I dont recommend it for my fellow Flightsimmers

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: Easy installation. The packaging housed the GPU, a cross-fire SLI cable and a HDMI-Mini Display adapter. Install took maybe 30 seconds. Three fans, I can't hear a thing. Playing BF4 on Ultra with no sign of lag or anything. I am very satisfied. Playing every game I throw at it at max with no hiccups.

Cons: It is huge. It's a bit bigger than a GTX 560 TI 448 Core.

Other Thoughts: Current PC specs
Microsoft Windows 7
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
16 gigs memory (CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

1 out of 5 eggsWish I'd stuck with NVidia

Pros: Looks nice. Stays cool. Runs quiet.

Cons: Have had hell with this since day one.
I bought it to replace an aging NVidia 8800GT (which ran flawlessly for years playing all games I threw at it) to get some extra FPS and DX11.
Well, I got the DX11, but that's about it.
Constant blue screens and driver crashes ever since installing it. I thought it maybe other hardware issues, so I tested RAM with Memtest86 for 12 hrs, stress tested processor and RAM with HyperPi for a whole day, tested my SSD with Atto disk benchmark for 8 hours and received no errors on any (system has been rock solid since I built it, never had a single problem with it in 5 years until I installed this card.
I tried clean Windows 7 x64 install, every graphics driver since 12.8 to 13.1 Beta 7 and updated the card and mobo bios. I even replaced my excellent 750 watt power supply with a brand new Corsair AX850 just to be sure it wasn't a power issue. Nothing will fix this horrible piece of equipment.
Another thing to note is this thing takes eons just to load any textures to its flaky memory, resulting in 1 minute load times for maps on Black Ops 2 multiplayer, where the card slows down to 1FPS and ramps itself up to 100% load and makes gameplay extremely choppy for the first 10 secs to 1 minute (it's getting worse over time). Map load times with my 8800GT were approx 5-10 seconds. load times make it impossible to play any S&D in BO2or MW3, due to always missing the first round due to it taking so long to load textures. BF4 is almost impossible to play. When it's loading a map it will get itself stuck in a loop when loading textures and the audio will stick in a loop too. Half the time it errors out on loading multiplayer maps and I get kicked due to this looping. It does it in game too, on the rare occasion I can get it to load,(multiplayer and single) which is like lag x10000.
I'm convinced it is bad RAM on the board (I'm at default speeds BTW, but it's worse if you try to under/overclock the card) because it will take an age (30 secs or so)to load 18mb (yes, megabytes) of texture to its memory to run a ram test in MSI Kombustor, but has no problems loading any GPU heavy stuff. There is also a whole bunch of graphical stuttering when any of the Kombustor tests are loaded and running (along with lots of graphical anomalies in most games)
The card doesn't get over 60*c in stress tests, so heat isn't the issue.
Voltage overclocks of any kind have not made it stable either.
I have had none of the same problems when I reinstalled my 8800GT (though frame rates are slower for obvious reasons). My 8800GT will even load BF4!

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't normally have even bothered writing this review, being that this thing has been such a nightmare, and to top it off and push me over the edge is the fact that the Gigabyte tech support is the worst I have ever dealt with in 15 years of PC building. Waiting 2 full days for a response to a tech support question is just ridiculous. This is the last time I will ever buy a Gigabyte product.
It's pretty obvious there are known problems with a big chunk of these cards if you look on the Internet. AMD have even acknowledged a huge problem With these chips.
Gigabyte has already stopped supporting the card properly (drivers and BIOS) and has pulled it from its product line up. That speaks volumes to me.
Now I have to RMA this thing and it will probably be replaced with another defective piece of headache equipment.
I see an internet auction and a new NVidia card in my very near future.
