4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Do you want to run two cards in SLI? Then this card is NOT FOR YOU. Why? Because I was able to run anything I've got (Crysis, Farcry, Spore, WoW, Guild Wars, and any other game I've conceived) on full settings without so much as a hiccup.

Cons: It pooped out on me after about 6 months. I believe this one might have been a dud, and I just learned about the 3 year warranty that comes with it anyhow (through Gigabyte) and I'm going to take that route. If they really do guarantee this for three years, then I'll be happy because that shows a lot of confidence behind their product.

Other Thoughts: 4/5 for now. 2/5 if this warranty doesn't go through (I mean, it failed in 6 months), 6/5 if it goes through and I don't have issues with the replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI+GIGABYTE

Pros: =UPDATE= ,SWEET SPOT ,HAVE A SECOND CARD MSI[OPEN BOX,JET LOGO] ,IN SLI WITH THIS CARD, OVER CLOCK CORE 733 ,OVERVOLT 1025, BEST OVER ALL FOR TEMP &PERFORMANCE , USING MSI AB 2.1 BETA 5, AND THERE IS RESERVE IN THE TANK , WILL HEAT UP AT SPEC , CORE 774, OVER-VOLT 1087,MAX, LEAVE MEM STOCK ,LOUD AND HOT ,WILL HIT 90 C AT 100 PERCENT FAN.

Cons: SLI , IS FUN AND HARD AT THE SAME , NEED UTILS AND NEED TO KNOW HOW TO USE THEME , DRIVER SWEEPER AND PROGRAMS AND FEATURE IN CONTROL PANEL , AND ALLOW NVIDIA TO CLEAN INSTALL AS WELL, IF YOU WANT TO PLAY ,YOU HAVE TO LEARN , SAFE MODE CAN BE OF GREAT USE ,IT WAS FOR ME, ALSO MB NEEDS TO BE SET RIGHT , IN MY CASE ASUS M4N98TD EVO, LEAVE ALONE THE HYBRID SLI ,IS OF NO USE , ALSO I RESEATED THE CARDS ,I USE THE MSI AS MASTER AND GIGABYTE AS SLAVE , LONG STORY SHORT ,TOTAL CLEAN INSTALL OF DRIVERS AND RE INSTALLING OF CARDS ,RE BOOTING MANY TIMES , I INVESTED OVER AN HOUR OR MORE, SETTING UP AND TESTING TO MY SPEC.

Other Thoughts: SYSTEM BUILDING IS FUN AND REWARDING , IF YOU ENJOY IT ,YOU CAN BUILD IT, BUT IN ALL THINGS ,THERE IS A LEANING CURVE, PROBLEMS ARE A CHANCE TO LEARN.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cards, careful with Win7 SLI

Pros: I use 2 of these cards in SLI and I'm able to run ever game I have on the highest settings (Crysis, Far Cry 2, Supreme Commander) with no problems what so ever...once I got them to work with Win7-64bit

Cons: I had an issue with windows 7 64bit where after a graphics driver (any version) was installed the computer would only ever boot into safe-mode. Talked with Gigabyte and Nvidia support and they got me working again, all that was needed was to re-seat the cards (clearing memory, discharging capacitors maybe?) as they had worked with Vista 32bit.

Other Thoughts: HAF 922 case (awesome airflow)
Intel i7-930
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58
6Gb Crucial RAM
2 of these cards in SLI
850W XFX PSU
8,000 fans b/c these cards can get a little hot :)

Pros: Dead on Arrival. Shiny Box.

Cons: Dead on Arrival, insane power consumption, runs hot

Other Thoughts: Go with the competition, less power = less heat = less component death = equal performance

3 out of 5 eggsDead in less than 6 months

Pros: Was fast when it worked

Cons: Hot/Loud

Other Thoughts: Worked for about 3 months and then started getting crazy. Would not display a picture from time to time when booting, but could hear machine boot into windows.

Gigabyte RMA process is taking a long time. Will probably sell it on craigslist and get either an evga 460 or a sapphire 6870

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card despite the reviews

Pros: this card has not let me down. I almost listened to the reviews and did not buy it. I am so glad I did. This card with just a simple download has not seen anything above 87 C and that was while benchmarking. this card stays at or below 72C while playing almost every game. I play MMOs and while in massive armies this card does not even think of breaking a sweat. It stayed at 72C the whole time on the highest settings and maxed AA. Im buying a second one soon to make it SLI. It also overclocked very well, I have it sitting at GTX 480 specs right now. fan on 70% is barely noticeable. 75% + fan speed is a little rough. I will not have to worry soon since I am getting the CoolIT OMNI ALC to put on each of my 2 cards. I suggest throwing a little AC MX-2 on this and watch the temp drop another 4 degrees C.

Cons: nothing great card.

Other Thoughts: HAF X
Corsair HX 1000 PSU
ASUS Rampage III Formula
12 Gigs Gskill Ripjaw RAM
Inel I7 950 (4.1 Ghz)
Corsair H50
Gigabyte GTX 470 (OCed to 480 specs)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Was the least expensive 470 at the time of purchase with a free game.
No thermal or performance issues and it makes less noise than the 260 it replaces.

Cons: I thought the card had a problem as my screen would go black for no reason and realized it was the junk $1 hdmi cable that came in the box. Thankfully the card works fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood vanilla GTX 470

Pros: When it comes to reference cards, they're pretty much all the same. Warranty and accessories are what varies. Gigabyte has a decent warranty and offers standard accessories. Worth nothing though, the packaging is very impressive. With this model you get and attractive retail outer box, a sturdy inner cardboard box, and a foam cushion all protecting the card. Very nice, much better than what EVGA uses.

Cons: HDMI cable is too short! I had to buy an adapter to use with a 6' cable I had on hand. For some, a 4ft cable may be enough. Not for my setup..

Other Thoughts: The GTX 470 & 480 reference designs are solid. They're amoung the best built cards I've seen, period. They feature a two piece thermal solution, with an aluminium base covering the entire card except GPU, and a GPU heatsink that can be removed independently. This is HUGE, as one can replace TIM on GPU without breaking thermal pad contact on memory & VRMs. First cooling solutions of their kind. High praises to nV, I hope they keep using this kind of cooler.
