5 out of 5 eggsAfter more than 4 years

Pros: so far 4 years and it keeps going. It was fast enough to run anything thrown at it. I usually leave PC on 24hr. I barely ever had to turn off. CCC does pretty good job with Overclocking both GPU and CPU. I actually had more stable runs with the Auto-Tune than AMD AOD.

Cons: not the best fans ever. one of the fans now started to make some noise. also the thermal compound started to fail and temps went up by 7C but for 4 years it's still pretty good

Other Thoughts: hybrid tech didn't work out well with the Gigabyte GA-890GPA -UD3H motherboard. I got it working few times but yea few BSOD so I ended turning off motherboard's graphic totally and just depend on my HD5850. I'll be keeping this GPU for as long as it runs. if the fan totally fails I will probably replace and probably re-apply thermal compound

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great.... for a while

Pros: Did everything I wanted it to do without any issues.

Cons: Poorly designed cooling. Fans are not very good. One started humming after about a year. Then the other one quit.....which I found out after the card decided to stop working at all.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card while it lasted

Pros: -Great bang for the buck performance
-Great performance overall

Cons: -Died on me just a little over 2 years of service

Now upgrading to GTX 670 (wish I could have saved the $350!)

Other Thoughts: Was a fantastic card while it lasted. I am seeing about getting a replacement as we speak!!

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Customer Service from Gigabyte

Pros: No complaints with the card when it was working properly.

Cons: After a year of light use, began to get system lockups, artifacting, and BSOD's indicating probable memory issues with the card (issue duplicated on two separate PCs and went through multiple steps to confirm that heat, PSU, and driver corruption were not at fault). Also tested a different non-Gigabyte 5850 in both systems and had zero issues with the other card.

RMA'd the card to have their tech indicate he/she replaced "something" on the card then sent it back.

Video card still has the same problems that existed prior to the RMA. Now I have to hunt down a method to get one of their Tech Support Representatives to authorize a second RMA in hopes of getting them to fix the card.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend that anyone purchasing a Gigabyte product should look elsewhere.

In my situation I'd prefer to toss the card aside, buy a replacement, and never buy another Gigabyte product but I'm going through the process to try and get Gigabyte to authorize a second RMA since I'd prefer to not have to shell out more cash for a new card at the moment.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally no flicker

Pros: Eyefinity, triple monitor capable

Cons: Flickering when trying to push 3 monitors, and dual. I tried a few different ways to up the minimum clock speeds in the past, only through CCC, but never flashed the bios. The HDMI port alone connected to my monitor is fuzzy and color is off. It works ok using DVI cable with same monitor, including DisplayPort to DVI adapter to run Eyefinity.

Other Thoughts: I used a combo on Gigabytes EasyBoost and RBE from TechPowerUp. I ran EB and backed a copy of my F11 VBIOS. Downloaded the F12 version from Gigabyte and opened it in RBE. All I edited was the clock settings which were 157 and 300, I changed them all to 500, and saved the file. RBE saves it as a .rom, so I removed that to just "5850OC_F12". I then used EB to Flash that updated VBIOS. Restarted and connected my 3 monitors again, with NO flickering. I have task Manager, PS5, Lightroom, and a movie playing right now, NO FLICKER. Wish it didn't take me over a year and a new build to try and figure it out. Thanks to Viking2121 below for posting about RBE and his OC'ing.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: *Runs pretty cool
*Overclocks vary well shockingly (915 core / 1160 mem stock bios)
*Runs really quiet, fans at 100% and I can not hear it over my cr@ppy headphone
*Runs every game I own at 1440x900 maxed for 2 years and is still holding its own
*Flashing these cards is easy with ATI REB & WinFlash (Just make sure that you use a bios thats for the card) read other thoughts.

Cons: *Newegg ran out of 5850's and 5870's
*Price on these cards are threw the roof now
*The Thermal paste needed to be replaced after 6 moths of use
*Fans seems flimsy, But its still going strong
*Dual monitors just don't work with these cards, same on the 5870's with stock bios
*When you overclcok the card, the 2d clocks drop to 157/300 and thats part of the cause of the dual monitor problem.
*Kinda big, but no big deal

Other Thoughts: In order to fix the dual monitor problem, I had to flash the bios, and I used a HD587OC bios that Gigabyte offered and changed the clock values of 157/300 to 500/500 and the dual monitor bug is gone, Another reason I used the HD587OC bios was because the bios allowed the card to use 1.163v and im not to sure what it changed with the mem, but now I can overclock if a tad further, now im sitting at 935/1195.

1 out of 5 eggs0 for 3

Pros: Powerful
3 year warranty

Cons: No good for 2 monitors
I'm on my third bad one in just over a year. I guess they put some bubble-gum on the broken ones and ship them off to some other unsuspecting fool.

Do I spend $12 to return it again or just buy an Nvidia 570?
LOL, sigh.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Good Card, wish I grabbed another before Newegg discontinued selling the 5850s, runs everything I throw at it pretty good, buuuut.....

Cons: If you plan on using 2 monitors with this card or from what I hear any 5850... do not buy, the second monitor flickers pretty bad

1 out of 5 eggsAnother disappointed customer

Pros: Card handled Portal 2 like a champ and MS Flight Sim. played and looked good. Performance to cost ratio were good.

Cons: Card died one year and fourteen days after purchase. It was connected to an adequate power supply, in a well ventilated case and was never overclocked. After reading about the horrible customer service from Gigabyte, I'm questioning the possibility and value of getting an RMA. Maybe I will just say "lesson learned", eat the money and tell everyone I know don't buy Gigabyte products.

2 out of 5 eggsNot usable with two monitors

Pros: With one monitor, it does everything I want. Great to play SC2.

Cons: With 2 monitors, it is TERRIBLE! If you have two monitors don't buy this. stuttering, stuttering, stuttering, and more stuttering!

Other Thoughts: I have done everything, re-installed / updated drivers like ten times with no luck. Try to play with clock speeds... no luck. With your second monitor you will experience stuttering.
