Rating: 4/5Exceptional Design, Terrible Default Fan Profile
This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: - Very good build quality - Looks great - Runs very cool in crossfire with a proper fan profile - Ejects air out of either end of the card so that the top card doesn't intake much of the bottom card's exhaust.
Cons: - The cooler was built for Nvidia cards and ASUS didn't make any modifications to accommodate AMD's smaller chips, meaning some of the copper pipes don't come in contact with GPU. However, the cooler still does a very good job. - The default fan profile is designed to keep the card quiet. It's fine with one card but in crossfire the top card gets very hot. It will hit 94C with the fans running at something like 60% and start throttling. Looking at the fan profile, it's set so the fans don't hit 100% until the card is at 104C, if I remember correctly. Setting up a custom fan profile, with a ambient room temp of 22 C, the top card will stay around 80C with the fans running around 80%. - I can see why ASUS went with such a low speed fan profile. The fans on the cooler are actually very, very loud once they get past 65%. They're the loudest GPUs I've owned.

Rating: 5/5Excellent bang for your buck
This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: This card will take the most graphically intensive modern games (granted they are programmed well) and give you beautiful images at 40-90fps. The price is just right for this level of a card, if you're looking for a bang-for-your-buck upgrade, look no further. I am currently running Shadows of Mordor at ~50 avg FPS at Ultra settings (with SSAO); the game looks wonderful.
Cons: The bottom fan had a production line problem in which it scrapes against the heatsink. The heatsink is raised at the bottom most part of the card and it looks like the fan is supposed to have risers at its coupling points, but does not. I loosened the coupling points to account for this closeness and it resolved the issue. Be more careful in production ASUS.
Other Thoughts: This card is very large, make sure you have the space. I wouldn't use any power supply lower than 500 watts, this card has a high TDP.

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: Runs every game thrown at it flawlessly. Great frame rates and response! I actually removed the stock cooler and installed kraken g10 with an h55 with 2 sp120's in push/pull. I'm seeing temps no higher then 50celcius even when my rooms is scorching during the summer. I have had zero problems with this thing. With the backing plate it's sturdy, and pretty lol. I plan on purchasing a 2nd one very soon, waiting on another price drop. I've had the card for almost 7 months now.
Cons: Stock cooler isn't the greatest thing in the world, but if your not planning on over clocking it, it'll be fine. Stock cooler is quiet though!
Other Thoughts: Honestly, the stock cooler does suck. But they all suck. I spent less than $100 doing a AIO water cooler and it's fantastic. Yea some people are getting DOA's, but that's all manufacturers.

Rating: 1/5Bad card, worse company
This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: Card worked for a few months
Cons: Card doesn't work anymore
Other Thoughts: This is my 3rd R9 290 and my 3rd RMA. These cards are garbage. Sure, when you can briefly coax it and the abysmal drivers it works with into functioning you can get some great performance, but good luck sustaining that for any length of time.
On top of that, ASUS does not provide express replacement/cross-shipping for their products. It is unheard of and unacceptable for any computer parts manufacturer in 2014 to expect their customer to spend weeks without a functioning PC instead of shipping a replacement in advance like every other company.
Needless to say I will not be buying any AMD or ASUS products in the future.

Rating: 5/5Boss Card!
This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: Quiet, fast, runs cool (at load gaming for 10+ hours highest it got was 65c) card is possible to flash to a R9 290x! 70+ FPS at any game I've thrown at it, New/Old!
Cons: I've had the card 5 months, nothing to state here.
Other Thoughts: Used to have a 7950 xfx ran like a jet engine, had to custom water cool it to make it usable. This card I was contemplating on doing the same, but I have no need to. It runs quiet and fast and low heat. Such a boss card, and I got it at a killer deal! I've dabbled a little in the O.C department with Asus GPU tweak its very easy.
Due to this awesome card a nice 1080p monitor isn't enough. I have 2 1080p Dell monitors hooked up to it and its soo awesome. But I recently just purchased a new 1440p monitor to unlock this cards full potential! For a good mid-high end card, this is the one! I love it!

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: This card has given me little to no trouble having owned it for about 5 months now. It runs everything I have thrown at it on max settings with stable, high frame rates. The card stays cool with my case and I do not see any performance issues even when playing games for several hours straight. Only con would be it is a large card, but you should know this before buying and plan accordingly.
Cons: A little big, not a real issue

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II OC R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Pros: - Performance - Price
Haven't experienced the overheating issues that many people has reported. I am very happy with this video card so far. The temps are stable and on idle is between 48 to 49 Celsius.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Planning on buying a second one to do crossfire.
Generally I don't write reviews, but seeing all the bad reviews that this video card has I felt compelled to write my positive experience.

Pros: powerful card build quality backplate
Cons: second card heatsink mount wasn't set properly, voided my warranty just to fix it. I identified this by pressing lightly on heatsink while running, decreased temps by more than 10 degrees.
