3 out of 5 eggsYeah, these cards will artifact and annoy you

Pros: Fast

Cons: Graphical Artifacts.
AMD's red-headed step-child card. Driver updates are always for the 270 and 290.

Other Thoughts: After a few hours of gaming, you will start to see polygons getting messed up in FPS games (BF4). Sometimes you can live with it, other times they block your entire view - forcing you to restart.
A friend got this same card by my recommendation. Saw the same thing, returned it and got an nVidia 770. Says he has never seen the problem with that card.
After reading all of these failed RMA's, I'm pretty upset with ASUS. They know they have a problem and will not do the right thing. (Returning you a card with the problem fixed!) I'm afraid I'm going to go through the same RMA routine everybody else did and get the same problem returned back to me. My advice, just avoid it all together.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It runs my games at 1080p resolution with all graphics settings turned on without a hiccup

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I've been thinking about buying a second one of these cards. I bought my first one in February of this year from another retailer (newegg didn't have it available) and it's been working perfectly fine. After reading all the reviews here I've been having second thoughts and may go with a different manufacturer for my second r9 280x. It seems I may have been one of the lucky ones with getting a fully functional card.

2 out of 5 eggsBad ARTIFACTING and BANDING

Pros: quiet fans. good while it lasted

Cons: Artifacts artifacts artifacts and awful horizontal screen flashes. Not to mention the screen tearing

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card back last November because it was getting glowing reviews across the board for performance and noise levels. Which were both true. It lasted me about 6 months and since then it's been nothing but problems with this thing, which makes me want to go the way of nVidia or at least nothing ASUS anymore.. extremely disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: None it did not work when I first got it.

Cons: So here is the story. I purchased this product back in June, but just got around to building it now. Unfortunately for me, as soon as I plugged it in and tried to get my system running, I realized my graphic card was not functional. I'm sad that I never got to truly review this product and will be looking to replace/refund it ASAP. Not sure how to feel rather than disappointed at this point. I'm thinking about getting the same card, but scared the same situation will occur.

Other Thoughts: Wish this product would have worked. I couldn't get my screen to even load up or boot from the get go. I'm very disappointed because I've heard good things about this graphic card. Oh well, guess I'll try another. I can't recommend this product to anyone because of the troubles it has caused me.

1 out of 5 eggsSevere tearing and performance issues

Pros: 2 fans? Is that a pro?

Cons: 1. Severe tearing
2. Low performance compared other 280X
3. Have to plug in PCI-E 6pin + 8pin, even though the card actually uses only around 100W (PCI-E x 16 75W+ PCI-E 8pin 150W is way more than sufficient, but the card won't power on without all 3 power feeds)
4. Fan really loud @100%

Other Thoughts: The card I got scores 40% lower than normal 280X in 3DMark. And FPS frequently drops below 10 in Watch Dogs with any graphics settings. Later I started to get graphics tearing in games and benchmarks, despite the GPU temp is below 50C (force all fans @100%). Different settings, drivers and power supplies all got consistent results. I even upgraded BIOS and lower vRAM frequency but still the same problem. I guess my card is defective. First time ever to get a defective graphics card...

1 out of 5 eggsA huge disappointment with Asus and AMD video cards. .

Pros: Not a good video card. Works ok as long as you don't do any kind of gaming or anything that requires the video card.

Cons: After buying this card as it's peak price of almost 500 dollars. I am highly disappointed with Asus and AMD. I will never buy AMD or ASUS products ever again.

The card makes games unplayable with it's artifacts. I've read that other people are having the same experience, even after I RMAed the card to Asus they sent it back to me, supposedly fixed, but the artifacts are still there.

I did a clean driver reinstall of the drivers, tried latest beta drivers 14.7.

I wish I can return this card to newegg or get a replacement of a working video card of equivalent value or an Nvidia equivalent.

I read somewhere that 200x series of cards are all like this. I don't know. But I know that this is unacceptable.

I don't recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsPrice does not reflect the quality

Pros: As a mining card it worked ok. I say just OK because I realized soon after purchasing that it does not have a bios switch on board, which is the only card I've seen without one. So it would mine fairly well but always had to under clock to 970 to lower the voltage and run at decent temp.

Cons: No bios switch as failsafe for flashing the bios. Pretty standard on all cards, except for this one. To replace a fan you must RMA the card, which is ridiculous. The only difference between this card's rear fan and the 7970 is the mounting bracket; this card has a 3 hole pattern, whereas previous card had 4, making a broken fan blade next to impossible without RMA.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Bought this card in November of last year to crossfire with an older 7970. Been running trouble free, cards never get above 80 at load. Adds great performance from single gpu.

Cons: Still expensive compared to new releases.

Other Thoughts: Apparently the new batches are having problems, hope they sort it out since it's really a great card.

2 out of 5 eggsArtifacts and BSOD

Pros: While the card worked, it worked very well.

Cons: When it decided it didn't want to work, I got horrendous artifacts and the BSOD multiple times.

Other Thoughts: Had to switch back to my two HD7770s because the card crapped out on me. The problems happened just long enough for a Newegg RMA to be impossible. I tried to start a case with ASUS once and it turned out that all I did was get a case number assigned to me and I have to try contacting them a second time and give them that case number to actually get some customer service support. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to do this yet, but if I can get an RMA from ASUS I'll update with how it goes.

1 out of 5 eggs***Don't buy this card***

Pros: ....

Cons: If u want an advice, avoid to buy this card. I already tried to reach ASUS reps. always writing comments after each bad reviews and didn't get any answer from them. This card is ridiculously the worse graphic card on the planet. All cards seem to be defectives because of artifacting and asus looks like to hide the problem under the carpet and want us to believe they have good after sale service but they don't do anything about it. Im not the kind of person writing bad reviews after a bad experience before trying everything. I bought this card brand new and the problem appears the same day. Do you want to bet I will get a reply to this bad review from the same reps I tried to reach since a week trying to get an rma and good arrangement....
