ASUS GeForce® GTX 670 DC Mini Small Form Factor Gaming Graphics Card

Small form factor PCs based on mini ITX motherboards are a popular choice for gamers, small office, and home users. Their compact cases are much easier to transport to LAN parties than a standard desktop PC, and stylish designs with comparatively low power requirements make them a natural choice for home theater PCs. The ASUS GeForce® GTX 670 DirectCU Mini is designed to maximize the potential offered by mini ITX motherboards, delivering high performance graphics. It uses an innovative DirectCU thermal design that combines a heat-spreading vapor chamber and the CoolTech Fan, which uses wide-angle airflow and venting to cool critical graphics card components.

5 out of 5 eggsBe careful with these cards

Pros: Works excellently, very quiet, saves on case real estate, but...

Cons: ... HEED THIS WARNING: These cards only come with one 8-pin power connector. The included 2x6-pin to 1x8-pin adapter is NOT a suggestion, NOR is it simply included for use with older PSUs. Unless your power supply has 30W or more on each 12V rail -- which is almost unheard of -- you WILL FRY YOUR PSU if you do not use these to combine the rails.

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine but needs positive air flow

Pros: This board can be paired (SLI) with the longer "reference" design to allow air to easily flow since this shorter one does not block the air intake of a longer one. I bought 2 of these for 2 systems which already had the the larger reference design gtx670 and they work great.

Cons: I bought 2 of these, one retail box, one "open box" and the open box fan failed 45 days later. The fan is T129215SU and you can get it on e B a Y from china for under $15 including shipping. The order was missing the "free" video game but I managed to get a 2nd rebate as it seems they didnt notice I had only bought 1 retail box.

Other Thoughts: The case, at the end where the fan is located, easily pops out and you can remove the fan and replace it easily. I have had the fan in for 2 weeks now and ASUS has yet to respond to my original RMA request. I made the RMA request at the same time I ordered a pair of fans from hong kong. ASUS did send me 2 rebates which was nice as I was only entitled to one.

4 out of 5 eggsPerforms well for its size, but power limited.

Pros: The small form factor makes for an easy install in a case crowded with wires. I have a mid tower case, so I was concerned with the amount of room.
It's temps are good, the fan isn't limited to 80% or something, and its not any louder than my other second card by EVGA.
All in all, it performs as it should: like a GTX 670, as long as you don't like to overclock.

Cons: This version is limited by its power output. To achieve the overclock I had set on both cards, I had to up the power limit on this one. on full load I noticed my EVGA card sits around 95-110% power output, but this card hits its limit at 115-125% power output, causing the clock to drop down occasionally.

In other words, there is not very much OC headroom on this card due to its power limitation, which I assume is from the small form factor.

5 out of 5 eggsGTX 670 Direct CU Mini

Pros: -Averages 1100Mhz depending on temperature and load
-Plays Crysis 3 on high, FXAA enabled 1080p ~50hz ~72c
-Plays Crysis on very high 1080p 60hz ~65c
-Plays BF4 on high 1080p 60hz ~60c
-Plays BF4 on Ultra with MSAA off 1080p 50hz ~70c
-Plays BF4 on full Ultra 1080p ~40hz ~72c
-Produces an unobtrusive amount of noise in my Fractal R4 with 6 case fans on low
-Got it on sale for $249, which is significantly less than launch price for both this version and the reference design

Cons: -Is not Ron Burgandy

Other Thoughts: I am impressed. Think about it like this, I got 7/8 of a GTX680 for under 1/2 the price... let that sink in for a moment. Couldn't be happier with it.

5 out of 5 eggsasus gtx670

Pros: Cool running, quiet, and capable of running current games. I'm playing BF4 on ultra with this card. Super easy install.
Doesn't require a big honkin power supply either, mine is 550w. No issues with drivers or anything like that.

Cons: None, zero, zip, nada.

Other Thoughts: Don't go showing it off to your friends, bragging about how short it is and stuff. They will laugh at you.... hard.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: The size factor, which is probably the most important feature of this card, is great. It runs quietly and there's plenty of power to boot. If you're going for a small-form-factor build, you should consider this card.

Cons: The price could be a little lower, plus I was disappointed that Newegg doesn't seem to be offering a copy of Metro: Last Light with this card, which it's doing for all of it's other NVidia cards above GTX 660. But in terms of the card and its performance, I have no complaints so far.

Other Thoughts: As I find to be the case with most graphics cards, the included drivers aren't up-to-date. Make sure you visit NVIDIA's site and download them. I had a component failure error the other day, and I'm fairly certain it was due to the drivers, because the card is running around 55-60 C while gaming, which is pretty much the most punishment I've put it through so far.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a 670

Pros: Definitely faster than my 660Ti is. The 256 Bit memory bus makes a whole lot of difference.

It's REALLY short, however, it's quite a bit taller than the slot you place it in (be careful which case you place it in)

Cons: Aside from what I said above, nothing. Tech sites do tend to review this and say it draws 5W less on idle and something like 20+ more watts under load. Also, its supposedly a smidge slower than a stock 670

Other Thoughts: I had debated about sending this back. However, after figuring shipping and restock fees I decided to hang onto it. I suppose I should have paid closer attention to the actual height of the card.

I will place this in my Den PC. I'm stuffing my GTX680 into a ITX Coolermaster case (the 50 dollar one) as I have one already and it allows for mounting a (at current) Radeon 7970... Which I am donating to a buddy. Tossing the 660Ti in it's place.

I use the front room 61" TV for almost everything right now, so amping my speed makes sense.

Overall, darn good card. Absolutely perfect for certain, specific, builds (and it's SLI capable).

3 out of 5 eggsCooler Design Fail

Pros: It's a GTX 670 in shorter length.

Cons: Complete design FAIL. Cooler frame protrude a quarter of an inch past the PCI bracket. Not a problem for regular cases but ITX cases will need to be double-checked.

Considering I can get an R7970 for the same price they should lower GTX 670 pricing to roughly 10% less.

Other Thoughts: Great idea, bad delivery. From ASUS too, so disappoint. :(

4 out of 5 eggsI already Own one

Pros: It's a GTX 670. It's relatively short, runs cool and does not make much noise at all.

Cons: It's being marketed as being the card to purchase for ITX builds... Here's the issue I have: It doesn't fit into 2 MATX cases because the thing is too tall. Extending about a quarter inch above the card bracket it, actually, sticks out of both of the HTPC cases I own (which are Micro ATX...). One is an NMedia case and the other is a DIY HTPC case )both are desktop type chassis.

It replaced a Zotac 660Ti (the non Amp edition). They make a card that's about 7.5" long and at the standard slot height. I think they're getting harder to come by these days. But that card fits perfectly.

I am shopping a new HTPC case, probably going to look into Silverstone this time.

Other Thoughts: Comes with ASUS GPU OC tools, it looks really slick and Newegg actually made this unavailable after they had already sent me one... Because it's now not available until 5-20-2013. I had been looking for it, saw it pop on Newegg's page and ordered it immediately. Before anyone realized they were not to be sold yet!
