3 out of 5 eggsHm

Pros: Great card, I bought 2 in feb 2010 1 is still blazing away and the other died jan 2011

Cons: Card that died went off on the great RMA voyage a few weeks later they sent me a brand new card, it was even the new 5870 model v2. This new card lasted over night before it overheated and died, RMA'd. They now sent me a refurbished v2 from the warehouse and THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED, lasted a few hours and died. Now I've been waiting for over a week for an RMA number again. Thanks ASUS, I enjoy paying 24 bucks shipping every time you send me garbage. so far 24 x 3, it adds up pretty quick and makes me rethink my purchase of an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Video Card!

Pros: 1. The Asus 5870 has unlocked voltages so you can really overclock. I was able to reach a stable 1000Mhz core and 1300Mhz Memory through the Asus SmartDoctor software. Although this runs hot, so I had the fan up to 70%, which kept it @ 70 Celcius max when benchmarking on Unigine's Heaven.
2. On stock clock/voltage settings and with an ambient of 22 Celcius, My card idled @ 32 Celcius inside a Antec 300 Case (fan is 20%, which is as low as the fan can get with CCC). It maxed @ 85 Celcius when benchmarking with Furmark and the fan only reached 35%. Turning the fan to 100% dropped the max to 57 Celcius when benching with Furmark.
3. Corsair 620HX Power Supply gives more than enough power since it only gets slightly warm even with it sucking up power from the overclock.
4. It looks nice and feels solid.

Cons: A bit pricey at the time of purchase

Other Thoughts: Newegg was out of stock when I tried to purchase it so had to get it somewhere else.

Here is a complete list of my hardware

AMD Phenom II X4 955 C2 Stepping

5 out of 5 eggsPretty

Pros: Eyefinty is a real treat with this card. No problems yet but have only had it in for a few weeks.

Cons: I am not seeing that big of a change over my 4890 in gaming on single monitor. This should have come out with 2GB of ram not 1. Price of course is always too high for new hardware regardless of type.

Other Thoughts: Good Egg!!!

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate* Screen Tearing Anyone?

Pros: So this is my third update, awesome card folks, once again it's a winner. Only thing I have is screen tearing. Even on videos in games. Gets pretty bad. Read online that you have to disable AI in catalyst control center, still get screen tearing, even with V sync enabled. Done fresh installs of drivers. Is anyone else getting this with this card, with out o.c.?
If anything it is not the pc in reguards to enough power. Its a beast.

Cons: Screen Tearing...Excellent game play however

5 out of 5 eggsLong needed upgrade

Pros: Fast, fast, fast! I like the lack of the "Oh look at me stickers", the simple Asus logo is just classy. I also like the backplate cover, again just asthetics but nice. Stable OC'd to 950/5000 at 1.35V. In game performance is outstanding!

Cons: Fan is quite loud when it really revs up. It can get hot, especially running Milkyway@home through BOIC, but such heavy usage it's going to heat up.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from an 8800GTS which was the bottleneck in the system. 3DMark score went from 9000 to 21000!

5 out of 5 eggsplease know what you are doing

Pros: Card is awesome. Make sure you have enough room in your tower to fit it in there. Don't buy it and complain that its not working properly if you are sporting a 350 watt power supply and then come back to newegg and write 1 egg reviews. Know what you are buying.

Cons: only con is that its hard to buy it from newegg because they are out of stock at the moment.

5 out of 5 eggsNvidia Fanboy Impressed

Pros: not going to comment on sleek packaging, who cares?
This video card surpassed my expactations. Going from an owner of the 7800 GTX, 9800GTX, GTX 260, to now this card, I am so happy I choose ATI with Nvidia right around the corner from releasing there Fermi GPU's.
Games I play, Counter strike Source, Battlefield 2, Crysis, Warhammer 2, Stalker, WOW- ehh alil bit, Fall out 3- like O.M.G! On all the settings its either detected at Ultra High, or I put it to MAX everything, and you know what, this thing pumps out FPS like no other. Over 300 fps in Counter Strike Source. Seriously I only have 1, for now.

Cons: I cant say I have any cons for now. Price, better than the usual 500 GTX supreme price, comes with a lifetime warranty which is sick. You can even water cool this thing and still covered under warranty. No cons

Other Thoughts: Just purchased my complete new i7 build from newegg, recieved over 2500.00 woth of merchandise in less than a week.
What is really impressive, I ordered everything, Asus P6X58D Premium, Core i7, Cosair Dominator 1600MHz ddr3, 2x 750 gb western digital 32mb cache, Fatal1ty Pro Titanium card, Cooler Master Cosmos s 1000, Cosair 750 psu(the blue one) asus 24x dvd rw, Logitech G15, Logitech G9x, coolermaster weapon of choise mouse pad, Samsung LED 23" display, Fatal1ty Marksman Headset, Cosair H50 cpu liquid cooler.
Once I got everything assembled the way I wanted it which took a good few hours. Pushed the power button and !boom! this thing fired right up no problems or glitches at all.
Pretty impressive if you ask me. All these parts shipped with in less than a week of placing the orders and all shipped in perfect mint condition, everything worked, then again I looked at the reviews and bought what consistently worked well for others, even if it meant spending a little more TYNewegg

3 out of 5 eggsReceived a bad card

Pros: This purchase through Newegg was for a second 5870 in order to run the pair in Crossfire. The first card, which I purchased locally, has been a champ. It has been stable at stock speeds as well as being OC'd.

Cons: The card I was shipped from Newegg was a dud. It is unstable at stock speeds, as well as being underclocked. Others have experienced the same problems. Doesn't sound like a wide spread problem, but it's sad that a $400 GPU could have these issues.

Other Thoughts: Newegg did a great job with packaging the GPU. It was sent in an oversized box filled with packing materials. This will be my first return to Newegg. I'll be sure to update if it's a difficult process.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Fast, Drivers Need Work

Pros: Card scores very high on 3D benchmarks. All video-intensive tasks are noticeably faster. My windows video experience scores are both 7.8 now.

Using PowerDVD 9 with this card makes for one amazing HTPC! The card has so much processing power that when used as a video scaler, it can produce life-like images from mere DVD content.

Excellent build characteristics. It's a little on the big side, so make sure it will fit in your case, with some extra room on the inside for airflow. I would plan on not placing anything directly adjacent to this unless absolutely necessary, as it generates a LOT of heat, and needs the space for cooling.

Doubles as a space heater. Easily helps keep my feet warm in Winter. Come June, I may move this down to the "Cons"...

Cons: On my larger monitor, at 2560 x 1600 res, the card does not seem to have much, if any, room for overclocking. Anything higher than the stock 850 MHz caused intermittent screen flicker, especially while watching DVD or live video.

If I only use my 1920 x 1080 monitor, it seems to have more latitude for overclocking.

Drivers are not the most stable I have ever seen (Used v10.2 downloaded from ATI). Experienced BSOD one time on an ATI driver issue. Not a deal-breaker, but this is the only reason I am lowering my review by 1 egg.

If limiting the noise of a cooling fan is important to you, this may not be your best choice (most of the time the video card is not the loudest item in my system, but my system is not that quiet to begin with)

Other Thoughts: Most of the time the fan is quiet enough to not be all that noticeable, but if you stress the card with 3D content, it can get loud enough to be very annoying. If you have a system that does not produce much noise to start, you WILL hear this card.

My System: Dell Workstation 690, 8GB, Dual 3GHz Xeon. Monitors 2560 x 1600 plus 1920 x 1200.

5 out of 5 eggsjust WOW

Pros: 3d mark vantage 17560 on 1920x1080 and 8xanti thing rarely goes below 100 fps. even in star trek online in epic battles or wow dalaran. also overlocks using the auto tool pretty good. also run 48c

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: people QQ all the time about "how big it is" stop crying its a powerfull card and sinlge fastest gpu and runs cold so yea its gunna be big and in the specs it has the size so if it doesnt fit ur case ur dumb and didnt read the specs or measure the case
