5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: Great software included, overclocked out of the box, quiet fan, fast! Also includes crossfire cables.

Cons: Requires 2 slots, but the fan's worth it.

Other Thoughts: Great buy, especially if you catch a good rebate offer!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have two of these cards setup for crossfire and they pwn just about every game I have. I run a 1680x1050 monitor with AA and AF cranked up and vsync on every game. The factory overclock is nice and I haven't tried to go any further as not much of a performance increase will be noticed.

Cons: The cards run pretty hot even set at 100% fan speed. The top card in the crossfire configuration runs 5-10 degrees Celsius hotter than the one on the bottom. I ordered two high CFM fans that I am going to place over the cards to help keep the temps in check.

Other Thoughts: I never received my first rebate from asus when I ordered my first card 6 months ago. I am not sure if I will get this one, but I did want to make sure and have two of the same cards in crossfire.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: -Works as stated
-Overclocks well
-Runs fine in CrossFireX
-No major problems
-After market cooler works a little better at idle
-Fan noise reduced (at a cost)

Cons: -After market cooler is worse at load and manually increasing fan speed doesn't help.

Other Thoughts: I have the EAH4850 original and the EAH 4850 Top. Both work great. The original runs really hot when idle, but if you manually turn the fan up it will cool down A LOT.

The one with the after market cooler, runs a little cooler at idle but gets even hotter than the original under load. The thing that caught me by surprise was that even manually increasing the fan speed to 100% did not help.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless for World of Warcraft

Pros: Overall the card is an excellent performer for the money. The card runs cool and is very fast.

Cons: Currently there is a problem with the ASUS 4850 512MB showing 1GB memory in CCC and dxdiag. The problem with this is that WoW attempts to uses this non-existent memory and crashes. CCC shows this a "hypermemory" which is NOT supposed to be used on this card, and if it is implemented, is buggy. This is listed as a "known problem" with ASUS 4850 cards by Blizzard.

Even RMAing this card will just get you a new card with the exact problem. ASUS does NOT respond at all on their forums and in general have some of the wors technical support that I've run into.

Other Thoughts: Stick with EVGA.

1 out of 5 eggsOverheat

Pros: great specs at time of purchase, slick design and nice stock fan

Cons: started to have problems with card overheating and causing system lock screen freeze and artifacts while playing WoW.. I'm not sure if RMA will fix that as this is issue consists from what i hear.

Other Thoughts: i just bought me a new evga 250 gts to replace it

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: look to other thoughts

Cons: look to other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I love this card. when i bought it i thought well good money for a good card. but it preforms much better than my expectations. i run crysis at 30 to 40 fps on high settings, not ultra high. i play all source games with ease. i can play L4D and watch a movie both running of the card. there is no fps drop. when under load it is a bit loud. but i mean i have my music up and the game noise is much louder so it does not matter. it runs cool as well. i think the hottest it gets is when i play crysis and that is only 70%c max.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Runs BF2 Mod: Project Reality 1680x1050 8xAA all High Detail settings

Cheap and produces great visual performance!

Cons: Large.

Other Thoughts: Same PCB size and heatsink mounts as x1950 so mounting my waterblock did not require any extra effort.

2 out of 5 eggsAwfull heat issues

Pros: Fast, HDMI and Quiet

Cons: Power circuitry overheats, instantly causing my system to shutdown, and as of last week I had to remove it all together from my system since it now shows red lines down the screen, kinda odd and probably a bad board or something.

Other Thoughts: Had to give it a 2 because when it works its great but as soon as i put any stress on it the power circuitry overheats.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat performance but poor cooling

Pros: This is a very capable card. I was able to play every modern game I own (FC2, Crysis Warhead, CoD 5, etc...) at maximum resolution on my 22 in monitor. This card was also able to handle 2x-4x AA in most cases and maintain smooth framerates. I always download the latest drivers when installing new hardware and do not mess with installation disks so I can't really vouch for the included drivers but on principal you should download the latest drivers when installing anyway.

Cons: My biggest gripe with this card is that it overheats before it will run unplayable frame rates. I could understand if you are overclocking the card and it overheats but this thing would overheat while running smooth 35-40 fps. This happened to me on both Crysis warhead (slightly lower fps) and CoD 5. I am frustrated that ASUS would place a heatsink on this card that is incapable of keeping it cool while running at or near 100% load. I even went into the CCC and forced the fan to run at 100% all the time without any change. The only way I am currently able to run CoD 5 is to open up the side of my antec P180 case which defeats the purpose of it being a quiet case...

Other Thoughts: The fan on this card is almost silent even while running at 100%. This makes me think asus should have put something with a higher rate of airflow on it and sacrificed some of the silence this card has. This card would still work great for a HTPC setup especially with its included DVI-->HDMI adapter. I did have some fun playing CoD 5 on my brother's 50 in. plasma tv.
