5 out of 5 eggsTriple monitor goodness

Pros: Triple DVI monitor support without the use of an adapter. Cheap. Passively cooled.

Cons: Not a very powerful card with only 64-bit GDDR3 but this card is not designed for intensive graphical applications.

Other Thoughts: Bought this because it will run 3 monitors using DVI connections without using an active DP adapter. Cheapest card available with this support. Fan-less design is a plus since last card died because the fan died and the card overheated. Used in an office PC.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great...for less than 6 months.

Pros: Can run three monitors - if all the connectors keep working.

Cons: No meaningful diagnostics for the card.

Other Thoughts: I had this for about five months before the monitor connected to the DVI-D output began showing a totally white screen after the windows drivers loaded. I switched monitors (i was running two) and determined that it wasn't my monitor, but the output on the card.

The only drivers that come with it (or that are available on the manufacturer's site) are for the chipset, not the card. So there's nothing more I can do to check it. Now I'm down to an HD and a DVI input and the other one is toast. Luckily, I only wanted to run two displays so I'm okay until one of the other ones craps out.

When something starts to malfunction after less than six months of use (and it wasn't every day, either, as it's my studio computer which I use as a hobby), it gets pretty low marks in my book.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lowest priced card that supports 3 monitors I could find at the time.

Cons: HDMI to DVI converter is not a cable, just an adapter. Whatever.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Economical way to drive 3 monitors

Cons: Unreliable and quirky. First bought 16 months ago and it lasted only a few months before failing. Now today the replacement also failed (can no longer drive a 3rd monitor). Also, it would frequently lose the window locations after resuming from sleep or monitor power down, even after upgrading to Win8 and then 8.1. And yes, I'm on the latest driver version, too.

Manufacturer Response:

We are very sorry that you have had problems with your graphics card.

We do hope that your return with Newegg goes smoothly

1 out of 5 eggsShould have read the specs more carefully

Pros: Low cost

Cons: Although the AMD HD-6450 is supposed to support two displays at 2560x1440, this card has 1 dual link DVI port, and 1 single link DVI port.

That means no 2560x1440 on the 2nd monitor.

ATI's website says the HD-6450 chip is capable to support 2560x1440 on two outputs:

This will go into the pile of unused graphics cards - I'm sure we'll find another use for it but am very disappointed for now.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine with open source linux drivers

Pros: I replaced a 6570 with this card because I do a lot of engineering (software and hardware) and needed three monitors. It fits fine in my Shuttle SH67H3 and--being fanless like my old card--is nice and quiet. I'm running the open source radeon driver on my KDE desktop Gentoo Linux system, driving three 1920x1200 Dell monitors with no problems. Compositing effects still work fine, and I didn't take much of a hit at all on my OpenGL graphics performance, which in my case primarily involves CAD stuff, not gaming. Basic Linux 3D games like tuxracer, Scorched3D, and the like still run fine, and I don't even notice any slowdown with X-Plane 9. I also have a SiliconDust HDTV box on my network, and this card has no problem driving a full 1920x1080 HD video broadcast on one of the three monitors while doing work on the other two monitors.

Cons: If you're interested in Linux gaming, move on. None of the Unigine 3D demos will run with the open source driver at this time. They might with the binary fglrx driver, but I'm not interested in finding out. I'm sure the performance would be less than spectacular in any case.

The other thing I notice about this card is that it runs 3-4 degrees hotter than my old higher-performance fanless card. I attribute that to the smaller heat sink on this card. Not an issue really.

Other Thoughts: The open source radeon driver uses so little of the 3D hardware potential of a video card that I see very little difference in OpenGL performance between my older, more powerful 6570 and this 'in theory' lesser performing 6450. That may change in the future.

For everyday PC work I'm not aware of any other video card on the market that is both fanless (quiet) and can drive three monitors easily out of the box on a Linux desktop.

4 out of 5 eggsWorking on Linux

Pros: Driving 3 DELL 24 inch flat panels for software development running kbuntu 12.04 LTS out of the box.

Cons: No cons here. Took some messing around with kbuntu settings to get the monitors in the right sequence.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little card

Pros: Great card. It is pushing two 22" Dells at over DVI and 1 24" Dell 1080P LED via the HDMI to DVI adapter. So all three over DVI.

For fun I tried coutner strike global offensive. It ran very well at medium low settings on 1080P. I actually set the core to 700MHz and the memory to 850 and it runs fine. Temps are right around 60C with the built in heatsink

Anyway, this is not ment for gaming, but can be used for light gaming.

Great video card for my work machine and the three monitors.

Cons: None. Priced just right.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best. Quick Shipping. Very happy :)

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well on Linux Triple head

Pros: Cheapest way to get good triple head support in Linux. Can support three monitors out of the box unlike non-flex versions.

Cons: Not terribly powerful. What is with marketing a business class card by putting a tightly garbed cartoon girl with a gun on the box? It reminded me of what this card is not.

Other Thoughts: I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 with (3) 1920x1080 using the catalyst module/panel. Composite works, as well as (limited) 3D so Unity or Gnome shell should work. I have had no playback issues with video, or normal work activity. I haven't tried any games, but don't expect much on that front. It's pretty much a perfect triple head card for business/work.
