4 out of 5 eggsAn awesome card for its time

Pros: A few years ago, this card had no trouble running most games smoothly on high settings. Of course it can't do that anymore, but it can still run most modern games, albeit on much lower settings.

Cons: Finally died on me after 3 years of nonstop gaming, apparently a common lifespan for this card.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card, lasted 4 years

Pros: Bought in August 2011 and has played most games at high settings since then. With Fallout 4 coming out it seemed like I finally needed to replace it. I've had no problems at all with it during this time and will definitely go with Sapphire cards in the future.

Cons: Nadda.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years, still going on strong

Pros: Amazing value for the amount of performance this card brought.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Still running strong after 4 years, have had no problems with it at all. But alas, it is starting to lag behind the requirements for some of today's games.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This card ran any game i put up against it. we are talking from goofy Facebook games up to ArcheAge all on max setting and it was awesome!

Cons: Did not last as long as most other cards I have used in the past. This is the first card to actually DIE on me over just being replaced. I bought this card in Feb. 2012 and it died a few days ago (Oct. 2015).

Other Thoughts: HUGE fan of Sapphire products and the life of this card was disappointing to me. The performance of the card while alive surpassed all expectations though. All and all i found it to be 4 eggs!

4 out of 5 eggsHas lasted me a good while Still works

Pros: Has lasted me from 2011-2015. No issues after receiving a 2nd 6870 following an RMA. Ran well with every game I purchased on Steam 2012-2015 and Star Wars the Old Republic with the exception of Counter Strike Global offensive which seems to just be poorly optimized and the exception of World of Warcraft which continues to add lighting features and higher res textures with every expansion. I can still run wow of course but not even on High Settings in the newer areas I only get about 40-50 fps many would consider that fine but in the old areas of the game I get 100+.

Cons: My first sapphire radeon 6870 died in the first week. Grey lines appeared on my monitor. I RMA'd it and had further difficulty with Fed Ex losing my package. Sometimes you just get a lemon. My next 6870 still works in 2015, built my pc in 2011. It ran most of the games I played within this time very well with the exception of Csgo and world of Warcraft.

Other Thoughts: If not for the first 6870 that arrived at my doorstep being a lemon I had to send back I would rate this card 5 eggs easily. Still earns 4 eggs for performing well with most games and lasting me this long without replacement. Just unfortunate that all I ever seem to play is Wow and and some really old games.

5 out of 5 eggsSapphire HD6870

Pros: Still going like the Energizer bunny. My HD6870 has been running continuously since December 31st, 2010. I figured at least the fan would have broken by now, but it runs fine, particularly with the digital fan controller on Sapphire Trixx. To date this card has never overheated under the load created by any game. The GPU also survived (albeit barely) a new bitcoin miner trojan that infected my PC and ran my HD6870 up to 90 Celsius until I was able to remove the malicious program. As we speak, it is idling at a steady 43 degrees Celsius, with the ball bearings quietly humming on the fan.

Cons: I do not want to jinx my HD6870, but if it would have broken, I probably would have purchased a R9 280X by now. On the other hand, I may still buy the R9 280X and keep this HD6870 around as a backup card.

The HD6870 has run every shooter, rpg, or other game I have thrown at it at maximum settings on 1080p at no less than 30 fps, which is bearable, but not perfect, with the exception of the Witcher 2 and Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 in particular forced me to place nearly all of the settings to low, less four or five other settings that were able to be bumped up to medium. This was my first sign that it may be time to start looking for an upgrade from AMD.

Other Thoughts: This card has survived nearly five years of intensive gaming, and the first year of NextGen gaming, but I have a gut feeling that it won't fare well into 2016, and if it does, most definitely not 2017, before it gets choked out by more demanding game titles.

Regardless, this is how cards are supposed to be built. No junk critical components like fans that break in a few months or even a few years, no overheating, and solid performance well into the future. At the time I purchased this card it was $250, and it was definitely money well spent.

3 out of 5 eggsFun while she lasted..

Pros: She lasted 3 years, one year passed her warranty. She performed well in those 3 years and I was pleased with what she gave me.

Cons: I wish she would have lasted a couple more years.

Other Thoughts: I still have a Vapor-X GPU 6870 I bought in 2011 and she is running strong *knock on wood* I wish she had her sister to keep running crossfire.... Oh well time for an upgrade :)
