5 out of 5 eggsworks great!

Pros: Put this in a build for my son and it works perfectly for him. Handles all of his games at the highest frame rate and resolution settings.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I have had no problems with any AMD cards from Sapphire or ATI, all the way back to my old ATI VGA Wonder 128 card a long, long time ago in a 486 build.

very poor customer service at Althonmicro(sapphire). they said they would reply in a "few days". 1 month later i follow up and they oh yeah sorry we cant help you.

Other Thoughts: Althonmicro(sapphire) customer service needs alot of work.

4 out of 5 eggsA confused video card

Pros: A very quiet and cool running card.

Cons: Just recently the card has decided that it would forget it was a 1GB card and will only recognize 753.5MB worth of this card. Slightly disappointed that it is running less then what it should be.

Other Thoughts: The card worth nearly without fail for almost a year. All round it is still a good card.

5 out of 5 eggsEven Better In Cross Fire

Pros: Bought the first one 5 months ago and just added another for Cross Fire. No issues with the first and none with the second. Both run considerably cooler than the reference design ( A friend has a pair of the ref design in X-Fire with same mobo; ASUS M4A89TD PRO, and Case; Cooler Master Storm Sniper Black.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Ran Unigine Heaven 2.1 Benchmark: DX11, Shaders High, Tesselation Normal, 16X AF, 4X AA @ 1920 x 1200.
Single Card = 27.7 avg FPS
X-Fire = 51.3 avg FPS

3 out of 5 eggsCard is good. Software... eh.

Pros: The card itself is VERY quiet and cool. It runs everything on high without a hitch. ARMA2 looks beautiful with this card, though it tends to twitch a bit when it's maxed out. No big deal though.

Cons: -1 Egg for the software. Catalyst drivers are absolutely horrendous trying to get functional. Overclocking at all causes some issues without using the AMD overclocking tools. You would think that after all this time, (Been using ATI for over 10 years) that the software would be stable.

Other Thoughts: -1 Egg for Newegg Discontinuing items so quickly after purchasing. Now I have to go find somewhere else to buy this card again if I want to crossfire.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Love the dual DVI and quiet Vapor-X

Cons: for years, the same tired ATI catalyst software seems to cause more problems than it helps... I'd go to nVida but the charts on just always put the ATI GPUs at the top of my list at every price point under $400.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I should go for two cheaper models or splurge for over $400 next time. I am satisfied with this GPU, I'm just not blown away.

1 out of 5 eggsGrey Screen-Returned

Pros: The card runs cool and quiet.

Cons: My card I ordered was defective. I would receive the grey screen of death after 3-5 minutes of game play. I uninstalled and installed several of the latest ATI drivers. I contacted Sapphire Tech and they told me to flash the Bios which I did. However, I still received the same errors. I returned the card to Newegg for a refund and bought an EVGA GTX 570 SC card instead.

Other Thoughts: I returned the card to Newegg for a refund and bought an EVGA GTX 570 SC card instead.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat car, going to buy again

Pros: Dramatically increased performance. I was running an old HD 4890 1GB and got about 9 fps on Lost Planet 2 benchmark tests. Popped this card in and my performance shot up to around 53/54 fps.

Quiet. I've always liked the Vapor X style cards because they run cooler than other styles without much fan noise. I have a very quiet case and under max load, the card's fan is inaudible over the case fans. My heatsink for my processor is much louder than this card ever gets.

Energy efficient. According to the CUPID hardware monitor, this card pulls less power than my old 4890, while still giving better performance.

Cons: Bit large. Had to measure case before I bought it to be sure it would fit and it is still a tight squeeze.

Other Thoughts: This is my 4th card from Sapphire and they will keep me as a customer for a long time to come. This is my second HD 5870 and my only regrets is that I couldn't buy more of these amazing cards at the time. As soon as I have the spare cash, I will no doubt be buying another one or two of these cards for CrossFire.

2 out of 5 eggsOn the Fence...

Pros: Screaming fast card. I know, I've had dozens of video solutions, including VooDoo's, scads of ATI's, all sorts since the 90's...

Cons: Drivers.
This card, like so many ATI cards manages to SOIOD about once an hour. I love being able to run games at full bore. I just wish they would run for more than an hour.

Other Thoughts: In the past 2 years, I have bought two 4670's, a 5770 and this beast. If the drivers do not improve significantly, my next card will be from NVIDIA and my next build will be sans AMD. I have been a fan for many years, loyal to AMD & ATI. I wish they would return the favor.
The two eggs reflect the shoddy drivers. What good is a smokin' card that isn't stable?
