4 out of 5 eggsPurchased when first came out

Pros: When I first purchased this card the drivers did not help with the temp. It seemed all the 4850 cards at birth time had that temp issue. Drivers got better, but unfortunately I purchased a micro motherboard so I just made it fit with very little clearance for the fan on this 4850. Temps were still high, so I turned the side case fan pointing in and it helps quite a bit. The case fan actually blows right on the card now. Still going strong over a year later. Far Cry 2 is not the greatest game, but the graphics are beautiful with this card and Direct X 10. I recommend as I paid $170 way back then and for the price it is a steel. Also, ATI drivers are much better now.

Cons: When the 4850 came out it was all about a heat sink that worked really good and a fan to boot for the cooling. At the time this card had it and a lot of others did not. I am sure their are many cards out there with a better cooling system now, but this one works just fine.

Other Thoughts: Shopping for a card is tough and the choices and prices change all the time. There is never a right time to purchase. I read as much as I can on the net to inform myself and take that plunge. The reviews on NewEgg do help. All in All, this is a very good card for the money and will play most anything in substantial eye candy. No matter what card you purchase, in 6 months the technology moves on....take that plunge on your informed decision.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the price

Pros: 100 bucks and I can play everything I like with an exceptional amount of detail and good frame rates? Sounds good to me. My monitor maxes out at 1680x1050 so I needed a card that would support a heavy amount of detail at that point. This fit the bill nicely.

It is very quiet at idle, and runs very cool. Of course, once you get gaming it starts to take off, but it's nothing that a gamer shouldn't expect to hear. Very stable, even when it hits 50-60C, and it will cool itself off within seconds. Haven't messed with the clock speeds, mainly because from what I understand you can't really push a whole lot more than marginal differences out of most video cards anyway.

Cons: ?

Other Thoughts: Bought this when it was 100 bucks. Choose between this, the 5750 512MB, or the GTS 250, depending on the price. They're all pretty close.

1 out of 5 eggs? reliability

Pros: Good value for the card when I bought it, seemed fairly capable.

Cons: Died after 1.5 weeks, massively so. cooling fan doesn't seem to be well designed in relation to the case..no means fo channeling hot air out of case, just essentially blows it right back at itself. For a dual slot card, it would be nice to have a better cooling system. That being said I don't think it ever got too hot when I was running it, but I didn't really tax it at all.

Other Thoughts: 1 star simply for the outstanding 5 star service of Newegg, as always. Issued RMA immediately, handled the whole thing very efficiently.

5 out of 5 eggsgood card

Pros: Handles quite a bit of load
Hasn't thrown any problems yet
Fan looks sturdy, works well

Cons: Not the greatest thing on the market, but for the price it is definitely the best bang for the buck.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Very good performance for the price. I get around 38-40 FPS palying Crysis at 1680x1050 at medium settings (Win 7 ultimate 32 bit). Initially, I was getting crashes pretty conmsitently after about 10 mins of gameplay (in Crysis and Far Cry 2), and I thought it was a WIn 7/ATI driver compatibility issue. However, it ended up being that my CPU was heating up too much during gameplay (77 C) due to dust in the heatsink, causing the crashes. I cleaned up the heatsink and haven't had a crash since. So, if you are having crashing issues, check you GPU and CPU temps. I use HWmonitor. It probably took me a week to figure out the problem.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsHow long will yours last?

Pros: Worked great until it stopped dead.....dead as a doornail.....stone cold dead.....the big sleep.

Cons: Mine died after 25 days. Lucky me. I returned it to Newegg since it stopped working within the 30 day return period. I also have issue with Sapphire since support was NON existent when I emailed them with questions during the install. So the question is, how long will yours last? You ready to gamble? It is worth spending a little more to get something reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsBye Nvidia

Pros: 7.3 in Windows 7. This replaced a 8800gt and can see a 50% increase in FPS in Left for dead. Beats all Nvidia 200 series cards

Cons: They didn't accidentally put two in for crossfire

Other Thoughts: For under a hundred dollars. It's they best card for the buck.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: My initial impressions of this card are good. People have complained about the quality of the card, but having had many graphics cards in the past the card appears to be average quality. I have been able to run Dragon Age, Borderlands, COD4 and a few other games maxed out with 30+ FPS at 1080P on a 40" Samsung LCD. Not bad considering the price.

The temps idle at about 45 and under load I hit about 71. Keep in mind even though everyone is saying that's high, its actually pretty normal for the card. I have the card setup via HDMI and sound and video look great.

Cons: This is my first ATI card. I have always avoided ATI due to their drivers and I understand why everyone says they are so bad. My drivers did not want to keep the scaling settings I was applying. Keep in mind this is extremely important when running off an HDTV.

Dual slot fan is block up 1 of 2 PCI slots :*(. Good thing I don't use them for anything.

Other Thoughts: I by no means have come over to the dark side and become an ATI fanboy. This card has pretty impressive performance at an even more impressive price. As long as it holds out it's well worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsMatt

Pros: $100 price point (as of May 2010), very fast, can compete with more expensive cards

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty good card, I am very impressed. I do not run an HDTV so I can not comment to the high resolutions, but it runs everything I have thrown at it very well at 1280x1024. Starcraft 2 runs at max settings, I do have to turn some of the settings down on Star Trek online, but not very much.

Overall I would recomend this card for budget builds, if you look at the charts on tomshardware.com you will see it can handle itself well.

5 out of 5 eggsCrossife set up delivers great results!

Pros: In a crossfire set up I get very high FPS in COD4 with all the eye candy turned on at the native 1680x1050 for my monitor. They should be able to tackle most games for several years, all for under $200. I like the fact the connectors have been upgraded to include a HDMI output.

Cons: They tend to run hot. No DirectX 11 support, but I knew that before I purchased them.
