5 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: It's a 4870. It has no problems with anything I throw at it. Performs quite well under CCC and can tweak it all to H3ll

Cons: 66% of the heat from the sink dumps back into the computer case. that's the ONLY con!

Other Thoughts: Sapphire has made newer versions that have a more traditional heat sink on them that exhausts ALL of the air out the back, where it's suppose to go anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't spend more money - get this

Pros: Been rolling with this and an AMD phenom II 720 BE for a little while now, and that and 4gb of mem is an excellent combination. No problems running any video games so far on this best... Fallout 3 at 1680x1050 all maxed out runs excellent, FEAR 2 all maxed out at same res. I've skipped crysis... it's a beautiful game but it's too much of a hog - plus Farcry 2 looks just as amazing if you ask me, and this card runs that perfectly.

Cons: When I first powered on my system with this and a 550 watt OCZ fatal1ty power supply, the system would post and reboot endlessly without giving video output. I was so confused at first, but I ended adjusting and reseating my memory and that fixed it, so I can't really say it's a con of this card - should probably not even be saying this here. Also, you may notice only having 512 mb of memory on this card if you use a higher resolution, but no biggie, just go grab one of those 1GB models and it should handle it without trouble.

Other Thoughts: These 4870s are THE bang for the buck. I can't imagine that twice the price (or more) for a 285 or even the extra price for a 275 from NV is worth the extra frames in games... but don't get me wrong, I love NV and I love ATI - when it comes down to it, they're a match made in heaven even if they're competitors. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for small price.

Pros: Runs all of my games on max setting, minor lag issues on max settings when playing Gears of War, other then that I can play Fallout 3, NBA 2K9, Left 4 Dead all on max settings with no lag. This is an absolute great card and even when playing games the max temp I have seen it get to is 58 degrees Celsius and I have the fan set to 75% and it is extremely quit compared to the 4850 I used to have, that ran at like 99 degrees Celsius when playing games.

Cons: I really have no cons with this card I mean this is one solid card.

Other Thoughts: Great product and a great price, only 30 dollars more then a 4850.

5 out of 5 eggsSAP HD 4870 512MB

Pros: Very fast card, despite being relatively old. I grabbed this thing for 130$ with free shipping and consider it a great value.

Cons: Runs pretty hot. I sit at about 63*C at idle and 75*C under full load. Consider good ventilation at time of purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the Price

Pros: Excellent powerful card. Runs everything I've thrown at it! Replaced my 3850 with this and the improvement is very noticeable. Gets warm, but all the later video cards run a little hot. I have a Cooler Master case with 2 80mm fans blowing in fresh air onto the card and keeps it cool enough to touch. Something my 3850 simply could not do. Fan exiting to rear of case is a big help.

Cons: None that I can find. Others have reported fan noise with card, but with my case fans, I can't tell much difference.

Other Thoughts: Great performance for the price! I would highly recommend this over the 1 gig cards just because of the price difference. This card is a bargain.

5 out of 5 eggsSapphire is my favorite graphics card.

Pros: this radeon card is a good card. i power 2 monitors with it, and when things get going, i like to open the pc side door a little bit, to make great air circulation. i am pleased with the card performance.

Cons: nothing wrong with this item.

Other Thoughts: this is a strong card, and runs at 750mhz speed. people say that this is just a little more than the 4850 card speed/ i have a 3850/ but my 3850 measures out to run at 297mhz, tho they say it's speed is about 669mhz. Always buy the big 4870 card, cuz the speed is up there, and the ram is gddr5, so snappy is right there 4 u. Recommended, A++.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't be beaten at this price!

Pros: - Love the 4870 series! Very powerful cards at a fraction of the competitors cost!
- A very good upgrade from a standard 4850; this card flies compared to those.
- Comes with every extra imaginable. It's nice to know that at such a great price all the extras still come with the card.

Cons: - May run hotter than some like. Fans need to be turned up quite a bit to keep card at a comfortable temp.
- Loud. With the fans turned up, the card can be quite loud.

Other Thoughts: This is the 512mb version. 1gb cards are all the rage now, so you may want to consider getting the newer versions. However, this card is much cheaper than the 1gb cards, and price was a factor when choosing this card.

This card (or series of cards in general) has given me the best performance for the price I've ever seen.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice at a Great Price

Pros: Performance
Price
Quiet

Cons: Size? (it's rather large)

Other Thoughts: Definitely outperforms my 4850. Saw an increase of 20-30 fps with no overclock even with my 4850 overclocked. Very nice card for the price and I would highly recommend for someone who is looking to expand gaming capabilities without busting the wallet. Easy installation in a roomy case but it is a large card so MATX cases beware.

2 out of 5 eggsLoud Fan Compared to other 4870 designs.

Pros: Great Performance for the money.
Looks good stock.
May be a great candidate for water cooling.

Cons: Bad Cooling Design...

The fan in this design is not as efficient as other 4870 designs. Temps ramp up fast and the fan has to spin up more than other designs to compensate. I have another 4870 based on the reference design (Sapphire 100243L) and with FurMark it isn't nearly as loud.

The new design also dumps hot air back into the case versus forcing it all out the back.

Both cards are in a Lian-Li Tyr PC-X2000 case (a.k.a. ABS Canyon 695) so there is plenty of cool air, i.e - it's like a wind tunnel.
