1 out of 5 eggsDied after 1 year

Pros: This board was used for OpenElec / XBMC. It worked great for the year it worked. The Mini-PCIe port was great for the CrystalHD card.

Cons: It died after a year. Tested everything possible, but could not find a defect other than the motherboard. Waste of money.

2 out of 5 eggsTwo Defects in a Row

Pros: All-in-one solution on the cheap, mid-range, wireless.

Cons: Every RMA I put in, the same memory slot seems to be defective. Waiting on second replacement (third board) now.

Other Thoughts: I am certain it is not the RAM sticks, I have walked each RAM stick through both slots, and on both motherboards they have both failed in the exact same slot.

3 out of 5 eggsworks great for freenas

Pros: has gigabit
dual core with hyper-threading
small dtx form factor
decent onboard video (though i don't use it 'headless')
low power
silent "no fans"

Cons: 2 sata ports work great the other 4 only show 1 drive when 4 is connected and they are slow!! as well
raid function works but you cannot rebuild or anything so it is truly useless

Other Thoughts: im needing to upgrade hard drives or install new hard drives so while it is down for maintenance im going to flash the bios to see if i can get the other sata ports working
it's been running freenas nonstop sense i got the board over a year ago maby 2 years and been a good little nas quiet enouf to sleep in my bedroom only fan in it is in the ps whitch is directly over the cpu heatsink and its a 120mm thermally controlled fan

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it worked

Pros: 6 SATA ports, atom so it's low powered, makes a nice little file server.

Cons: Started having problems after a year and a half of use. I specifically purchased this board to use as a file server/experimentation box. It worked great for a year and a half running various 32 and 64 bit linux distros. Unfortunately, this board no longer runs reliably. It will randomly lock up or reboot after a couple of hours of use. It even locks up when running memtest.

4 out of 5 eggs1st one dead, 2nd one flawless

Pros: Has a ton of features. It's fast enough for internet surfing and small applications. It's perfect as my bitcoin miner due to the low power consumption. Built in wifi works well too!

Cons: The first one I received had the exact same problem as another reviewer. It kept restarting literally 3 seconds after I'd hit the power button. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out...but I called up Newegg and they shipped me a replacement.
The second one has never had any such problem.

Be careful with the case you select -- this form factor is not a mainstream one.

Other Thoughts: Never had to replace anything with Newegg before this motherboard...but Newegg made it VERY easy to get this fixed. They sent the new board next-day-air and gave me 30 days to return the old one

1 out of 5 eggsPoor design, misleading description

Pros: Size

Cons: Physical HDMI connector is latched to LVDS and does not properly support HDMI displays; max resolution is 1366x768

WiFi just doesn't work - connects but drops after a few seconds, regardless of driver used

RAID issues as described by others here

4 out of 5 eggsstable little board. bad raid. bad wireless

Pros: Other than that, it's a nice stable board with upgrade options. I'm using it in a FreeNAS box I made and i works great so far. It's been running for a week non-stop without any problems.

My current configuration is this board plus 2 gigs of RAM, 2x1TB Samsung drives using the SATA 1 + 2 ports and one USB flash drive used as bootable with freeNAS installed on it all powered by a 160 watt adapter. The drives are set up as software RAID1 and it all works great.

Cons: Don't get this for hardware RAID. It really is rubbish.

Don't get this for its included wireless network adapter. It cuts off connection ever 5 minutes. (this is common with all zotac atom boards that have wireless adapter on mini-pci express slot, I know from experience)

Other Thoughts: I build another system with the same board and used zotac's ion graphics card. If installing windows on it, make sure to boot in safe mode and uninstall the on board intel gfx adapter, or else the ion gfx will just display a black screen.

1 out of 5 eggsRubbish for RAID

Pros: Silent and fanless, nice board layout, relatively inexpensive.

Cons: Do not buy this board if you're going to try to do anything with RAID. The BIOS RAID is useless; you cannot do any operations to the RAID (like rebuild) from the latest BIOS. You cannot use all 6 SATA ports if you set it to non-RAID mode, just 3 according to Zotac.

I'm using it with Linux, and although all of the ports do show up in non-RAID mode, using it this way causes some serious issues. Simultaneous use of all ports driven by the JMicron chip(s) causes one of the drives to slow down - as in, 2MB/sec slow.

Also, you can't read the SMART status with these ports.

Basically, you're never going to get to use all 6 ports without jumping through hoops, if at all.

Other Thoughts: Newegg should list this as having two or three SATA ports. I'm probably going to return the item (and expect a full refund) as the item doesn't function as described, although I'm going to try the very latest Linux kernel, first, as it may solve the issue.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great. Able to use all 5 of my HDDs

Pros: Low cost, low power use, eSATA and 6 SATA ports

Cons: 4 of the SATA ports are on a port multiplyer, so don't expect killer performance. GPU is weak sauce, but this isn't a HTPC motherboard anyway.

Other Thoughts: A few reviews here said you cant use all 6 SATA ports unless you are using RAID...they are wrong. I have 5 SATA hard drives running right now in Windows. Only drawing 35~ watts of power too! Makes a great like file server.

5 out of 5 eggsbeen up and running for a while

Pros: it can run windows or linux it does have raid it runs cool as long as you have some air flow in the case it is fast and simple to install works great for freenas and detects all the hard drives installed even on the raid ports with some configuring so if all else fails you can use software raid if you dont want to use jmicron chip all you got to do is set it up in the bios and for windows you need to download extra programs from zotacusa.com

Cons: none except the one doa board i got that i rma'd but new egg already sent me a new one so i added a new egg for the service and speed the got it to me

Other Thoughts: right now i have one running windows xp pro and another running freenas with transmission running the down side to freenas is i cant figure out how to set up the wireless card to make it wireless the one i have xp on the wireless card kept disconnecting so i installed a bcm43xx card and it runs great now it is like the arthose card just dont like my dd-wrt routers
