EVGA...why? It shouldnt be this hard
- Pros: EVGA is the cream of the crop. BIOS is superb with tons of options and great support and forum/community/warranty. Love the company and what they stand for...quality.
- Cons: I haven't been able to get either of the two sets of Ram to post at there stock settings. I bought 2000mhz mem and it would only run at 1066 777 21 or 1522 111111 24. Now I downgraded to 1600 and I'm still not getting my RAM to post at 1600. I'm beginnning to think its the board. BTW I have managed to OC stable an I7 to 4ghz so the board is decent for the money. But I don't like products that say one thing and do another. I'm still trying to get it going and working with the community and forum moderators which have been helpful.
- Other Thoughts: So far, I'm leaning toward two trains of thought. Accept that I got an x58 mobo for $170 and made it to 4ghz and be grateful or just be my normal OCD self and return this thing because its not working as advertised. I'm going to flip a coin. Newegg I may be RMA'ing this board shortly if the second RAM kit doesn't post 1600mhz (which is supposed to be stock settings meaning I should be able to get 1700-1800 with my expertise and my water cooling solution. We shall see. I gave it one egg cuz the RAM isn't cutting the mustard otherwise I'd have given it a 3 eggs for the average OC of 4ghz.
Great color scheme
- Pros: Micro-ATX version of a great board, great color scheme, and supports all the latest technologies
- Cons: it IS a small board, getting 2 graphics cards on it will fill it up pretty much, and heat would be an issue, but buyer should know that from purchasing a micro atx, at least by examining the pictures beforehand.. Only con I got about this would be that the BIOS version needs to be updated to fully support DDR3 tri-channel, at least mine does.
The heatsinks look great, but might be a hassle for some installs.
- Other Thoughts: Got this elsewhere
EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX SLI Micro Intel Motherboard - Retail
- Pros: Great BIOS, was able to set my memory up correctly very easily.
Looks great in the case I'm not overclocking but stock heatsinks cool off the chipsets well Plenty of fan headers and I/O Diagnostics/power/reset buttons on MB in case you wired front panel wrong
- Cons: - Manual does not describe all BIOS settings, about 5 or 6 settings are missing. Other than that- very good manual.
- Wish it had more 4 pin fan headers for speed control as well as monitoring
- Other Thoughts: My system build:
