4 out of 5 eggsFoxconn Destroyer NVIDIA nForce 780a Motherboard

Pros: Overall a quick motherboard and component installation. Plenty of USB board headers as well as on the back of the I/O panel. Front audio header is located at the bottom of the mainboard in the middle unlike many boards where it is located in the lower left corner. The Destroyer has plenty of case fan headers. Fantastic rebate on this board that may possibly be no longer manufactured (???).

Cons: Somewhat limited choice of DDR2 memory both in choice of brands as well as system memory speed. The owners manual with the installation intructions has the front panel (power switch, reset switch, hdd led, power led) reversed. I followed the manual- I could not start the power process. I was able to power up the board and components by using the MB on board power switch. This incorrect diagram caused some delay in assembling the motherboard. I was able to figure the mistake made and changed all the wires and presto, the MB powered up. Using Windows Media Center Edition, I had to insert and remove floppy disk 1 and 2 four separate times to complete the RAID driver installation. That many times seems a little redundant. Otherwise, Windows MCE installation was flawless. One case fan header located at the bottom of the board apparently has a short in it. It works sometimes but only rarely. I changed to a different fan pin header.

Other Thoughts: I would not be reluctant to purchase another high end Foxconn mainboard.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat board

Pros: I like the bios of the board after the update. It is really a pain to update but once it is done you will be happy with the results. Very easy to OC the system

Cons: The mobo likes to run a little warm with out overclocking it. With the CPU at 3.4ghz 1.3420 volts the mobo will run around 40C with it OC ed to 4.2ghz 1.5200volts mobo runs around 35C CPU at 29C air cooled and stable. It is loosing one egg just b/c the update is such a pain. Foxconn needs to do alot of work to there website.

Other Thoughts: AMD 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4ghz (OC ed 4.2 on air)

5 out of 5 eggsThe DESTROYER of all motherboards

Pros: Best am2 motherboard out there. Even tho am3 is out it still is better than 90% of them. You get so much stuff with it. If you are building a gaming system then this is the board

Cons: I dare you to put a con. I call the boys and we will bring our ships and DESTROY all of your con's.

Other Thoughts: Has anyone had any luck with memory other than g.skill with this board. I want to upgrade and would love to put some ocz or mushkin

5 out of 5 eggshelp with problem

Pros: Love the board. It is very upgradable with 4 Pci xpress
Alot of thought went into this board. If your going to just use air cooling go with 120 or 140mm fans because the cooler this board is the better. With the capability of 3 sli's you will need alot of cooling as possible. Very stable with a 930 black edition running at 3.4 but im going to up grade to water so I should be able to get more.

Cons: I wish that the north bridge had a fan for cooling possible that it dos'nt get that hot but i'm a firm believer in a cool system. Wish it supported more than 8 gig. I don't like that it has a plce for a floppy. But all of this isn't a con just a I wish it didn't have comment. Haha

Other Thoughts: Does anybody know if this would support ddr3. I don't think so but tried tech support and no answer maybe this was a to stupid ? sorry if it was

4 out of 5 eggsHardware awesome. Software bad. Not much tech support.

Pros: Awesome hardware. I owned a Foxconn 8800GTS OC before and found it reliable. Great BIOS options.
Some nice bonuses like an extra fan for blowing over GPU and heatpipe extension for motherboard chipset.

Cons: Aegis Panel monitor and overclock utility often crashes system when launching. When it doesn't, the app itself "encounters a problem" although you can set a blind eye to that message and still use it, which I must b/c I have to lower my noisy case fan speeds. SpeedFan won't adjust the speeds.
Contacted tech support about Aegis not working. They promptly linked me to latest version which says it doesn't support my mother board. Trying every version of Aegis Panel in between hasn't helped. Tech rep hasn't replied to my subsequent reply.
The online update util sometimes crashes the system.
quantumforce.com has a couple more BIOS updates not listed on foxconnchannel.com, but those caused my ASUS Xonar D2X to sound choppy when rendering 5.1 or 7.1 audio at 96KHz or higher.
I won't dare try the BIOS logo replacement util as I've had a nightmare with a similar util on an Asus board.

Other Thoughts: WinXP Pro SP3

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo, Funny Extras

Pros: This motherboard worked out of the box and came well documented and with any accessories I might need. It also came with a couple extra and nice accessories such as an additional fan and mounting bracket for cooling GPU's. There was also a heatsink expander for the southbridge heatsink and an optional plastic plate for mounting your system in an open environment. (Not reccomended though.)

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: This mobo also came with a set of dog tags, enough sticker to decorate my car bumper and about 10 of those stick on tattooes. Although this was great for laughing it, it was really pointless.

5 out of 5 eggsFoxconn Destroyer review

Pros: I've been using this board since January 2009 without problems. Nice layout and BIOS features for overclocking the cpu. Originally used an AMD Phenom X4 9950 BE, but later installed an AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 ghz and overclocked it to 3.6 ghz. Easy to adjust voltages for cpu and DDR2 SDRAM. Board layout allows for adequate aftermarket cpu air cooler without interfering with SDRAM.

Cons: BIOS and mobo has feature to store different configurations for overclocking, but unless you write it down there is no way to designate the configurations other than by Slot number.

Minor issue with cold bootup - sometimes must try several times before SDRAM red LED on board lights up (will not boot). Might be power supply Power Good signal...

Other Thoughts: Phenom II X4 940 cpu, OCZ Platinum 1066 mhz DDR2 SDRAM, Zalman CNPS 9700 NT cpu cooler, EVGA 01G-P3-1284-AR GTX 280 (pair in SLI), Western Digital Caviar 500 gb, Corsair 1000HX 1000-watt power supply, Windows 7 x64 Home Premium (formerly Vista x64 Home Premium), ABS Canyon 695 full tower case with Scythe 1900 rpm 140 mm case fans and Scythe fan controller.

Pros: This board is great. It has a lot of safety features. Dual bios. Indicator lights everywhere. It comes with Phoenix Quantom bios. Supports RAID 0 ,1 ,0+1 (or 10) Overclockable.

Cons: Owned this system for 1 year and haven't found any yet on this board.

4 out of 5 eggsGood MB SLOW Site.

Pros: Pretty much everything. Dual lans means that I can bridge them and connect my other pc to the net without running another 35' cable to the router on the other side of the room. On board video is fine for everyday tasks like watching videos on line. Aegis panal does a good job in fan speed department. Painless driver and bios updates via Fox Update.

Cons: -1 egg for support site. Foxconn site download speed of 21KBs means that a chipset driver download of 179MB is a good time to go see a movie or take a long nap. Onbord video finiky about refresh rates and resolutions (guess I'm a bit spoiled by card in other rig. Aegis panel won't load at startup without error AND broken by driver update (rolling back to old driver fixed broken part). No Cool-n-Quiet? Support site could use a little beefing up on the info side, relies heavily on tec support contact.

Other Thoughts: My AM2 6400 black box runs 15C. cooler on this board than on my old m2npv-vm, which is now running a single core for my older games (Red Baron 3D can't be slowed down enough on a dual core). After hooking up 4th hard drive board temp steady at 52C. Blown head gasket put my dreams of SLI on hold for time being.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Supports both AM2 and AM2+ CPUs and conducts heat well. Plenty of SATA ports and board is nicely spread out. Plent of space for sli'd video cards.

Cons: Only one EIDE channel so i had to do some fancy manuvering to get my IDE hard drive to work along with my IDE CD drive because of the size of my case (XCLIO Windtunnel).

Other Thoughts: Love this board though! if you are debating whether or not to get this, get it. well worth it!
