5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Slot layout, Price, Z77, Asrock, good OC'er.

Cons: Only one of a few boards left that support Sandy and Ivy Bridge CPU's.

Other Thoughts: I replaced an Asus Maximus Gene V with this board... Because it was giving me a lot of problems. This new board is working great and have no more issues. I'll keep using it while I RMA my old board.

While this board doesn't have all the tweaking options my Gene V has. It's still a really nice board. Great to have a backup for the next 2-3 more years.

1 out of 5 eggsWant this to be known, rating on NEWEGG not the product

Pros: The motherboard is great if there is no physical damage done to the CPU slot before you get it...

Cons: If you get a motherboard that has damaged pins on the CPU socket and send it off for an RMA, you want get a replacement... You might get a 10% off your next motherboard if you respond in less than one day...

If there is a bad CPU socket, they will say you damaged it regardless if it was damaged before you received it

Other Thoughts: I am seriously thinking of not shopping with Newegg again if my situation is not handled correctly...

I have been purchasing from newegg for close to 20 years and I never had to return a motherboard... But the one time I do it because of a defective motherboard, the assumption is that I damaged the pins on the socket...

I don't doubt that the majority of damaged pins on a CPU socket is caused by inexperienced builders... But I have built more than 300 PCs and have NEVER bent a pin because I am very meticulous in what I do

2 out of 5 eggsSeems to work right if it wasnt defective

Pros: Fastest reboot I have seen

Cons: Received a defective board the first time, and 2nd board was still defective

Other Thoughts: First board I received had a defective CPU mount with 2 missing pins. Contacted the manufacturer and got a free replacement (even though I had to spend my own money to pay for shipping to replace the defective board. Plus a 2 week waiting period for the replacement.)

The replacement board I received has had problems with crashing on windows update that I have never experienced before. Two weeks of troubleshooting the problem has proved that the SSD, RAM, Software, and CPU have not been source of the problem. And digging into Windows forums has pointed almost all the blame on the motherboard.

It could possible be another hardware fault, but all evidence and trouble shooting is pointing towards a faulty motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
All replacement mainboards are fully tested to assure working fine before shipped.
For the crash issue, please set the UEFI BIOS default.

5 out of 5 eggsASRock Z77 Extreme4

Pros: -Lots of PCI lanes.
-Lots of SATA connections.
-Lots of USB connections.
-Four RAM slots.
-OC my CPU to 4.0 GHz.
-Great on-board audio.
-Easy to use UEFI.
-Still works after a year's worth of OC hardcore gaming and video editing.
-Debug LED helped me figure out what was causing my PC to crash. (Faulty RAM).
-The manuals were very thorough and in depth.
-Great driver support. (Downloaded from website).

Cons: I really can't think of any.
I guess the color of the board is a bit ugly but that's just a matter of personal preference.

2 out of 5 eggsGood...until it wasn't

Pros: Cheap. Nice layout.

Cons: Panic Attacks and Stress due to its untimely death.

Other Thoughts: Worked great until I started having problems a month ago.

Restarted computer and it wouldn't boot. Got the d0 error code, which was CPU Initialization Error. The CPU was a brand new i7-3770K that was purchased at the same time with this mobo. No overclocking. PC is pretty well-ventilated with 3 case fans and room is cool most of the time. I don't even use the PC much for heavy load work, like games and such.

At first, I thought it might be one of the peripherals I installed. I did just buy a new USB 3.0 hub, so I unplugged and rebooted again. Same error. So I decided to try unplugging my keyboard and mouse. BAM, it booted up again. So I thought it was either the keyb or mouse. Plugged them back in again and it still was able to boot normally. WEIRD. At this point, I decided it must be some random issue and not one of my peripherals. All I knew was that if I didn't reboot or shut down my machine, everything worked fine. I didn't have time to deal with this and didn't want to take any chances so I left my PC on for 28 days without rebooting, until I was forced to by a program update for my antivirus. And the d0 error came back.

This time I couldn't get it to boot at all, no matter what I did. Took the PC apart and unplugged everything except CPU and RAM. still d0 error. My friend thought it might be the PSU not supplying enough power to the CPU so that's why I was getting that error. Borrowed a working PSU from him to test but still got d0 error. Cleared CMOS, same error. At this point, I was 99% sure it was the mobo causing issues. So I decided to just bite the bullet and buy the same mobo again, reasons being its the cheapest, best-selling, most reviewed board and the fact that I didn't want to redo my Windows installation again with a different mobo. Also, I was pretty sure my RMA period was over since its been almost 2 years since I purchased it. And the fact that I've been reading that the RMA turnaround time is horrendous. I couldn't go without my PC for that long.

So the next day, new mobo arrives. Reconnect everything just as it was before. Reconfigured BIOS just as it was before. Boot up. BINGO. Everything works fine again. Definitely was the mobo causing the issue. Been building my PCs pretty much most of my life, tried multiple brands of motherboards, and I've never had any fail on me before. So now I'm wondering how long this one would last...

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I use Asrock boards in business systems, including engineering computers.

3 out of 5 eggsSabertooth Replacement

Pros: I dunno. No bent pins, nothing wrong with the board, structure wise. She fire'd up on the first switch. Pretty finish to the NB and SB blocks. Over-clocks like a CHAMP ... !

Cons: This is NOT a full ATX sized MOBO. Be sure to check dimensions before ordering. Wasn't problem for me ... but just throwing it out there.
The integrated sound was horrible ... ! After double checking that I installed all the drivers, ... I called it quits ... and bought a sound card.

Other Thoughts: Overall ... it's a okay board. Nothing fancy, but over-clocks very well. Integrated sound was horrible. 2 fan pins in the MIDDLE of the board was a terrible design.

3 out of 5 eggsSeems mostly fine

Pros: Everything appears to be working with one exception.

Cons: The sound is not being detected on the MOBO. Have reinstalled the drivers many times. Can't think of any way to fix this on my end. All I can conclude is that it is a hardware issue.

Other Thoughts: If everything else continues to work, I can work around the sound issue w/ my off-board sound card, but it's still rather disappointing.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with sound onboard.
Please check if onboard HD audio is enable in UEFI BIOS, Advanced, South Bridge Configuration.
Uninstall the sound driver, download and install the sound driver at link below.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Looks nice out of the box.
Had the performance I was looking for.

Cons: Was DOA.
Waited over 30 days for other parts so now have to go through ASRock RMA process.

Other Thoughts: Could not get it to POST. No beep, no Dr Debug codes, nothing. The chassis fans and CPU fan turned on. Chassis fan 3 did not work. I reseated the CPU several times, tried the RAM in every slot. Have another computer with an ASUS P5Q Pro that has been running for 6 years without 1 problem. For this build I should have stayed with ASUS.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure the quality.
Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please update replacement mainboard is working fine.
