4 out of 5 eggsMother

Pros: First board had some issues but RMA and the second board works great. First time purchasing a ASRock Motherboard and I had some concerns but none now

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would purchase again from ASRock, I always purchased Asus motherboards but seems the quality has gone down a step or two so I broke away from Asus and seems I will be buying ASRock in the future

1 out of 5 eggsBroken mosfet heatsink

Pros: Looked nice overall

Cons: The clip holding the mosfet heatsink on (right behind the I/O) was broken and the heatsink was half way off with the clip loose in the bag.

My first part in 15 years I have to RMA. Hoping the replacement works great.

Other Thoughts: Will update when I receive replacement. Guess build is at least 1-2 weeks off!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer,

Sorry to hear that mosfet heatsink has losing.
It probably the push pin lock was not securely locked.
We will be more than happy to send the push pin lock.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed After 3 Months

Pros: Quick and easy to setup.

Cons: 3 of the DIMM slots failed after 3 months. No happy with ASRocks return policy either.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that memory slots are malfunctioned.
Please turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Test with known good single memory module on each slot one by one to verify the slots.

2 out of 5 eggsFirst Asrock failure

Pros: Great products for the price. Easy OCs.

Cons: Rear USB intermittent failures. Started having issues with my system rebooting randomly. Very frustrating, infrequent, hard to diagnose. The problem was increasing and yesterday the rear USB showed to be the cause. I moved all USB devices to the front USB i/o & did a complete reload & stress test, works great. Very disappointing when you get a random failure like this. Though it seems this is an issue others have experienced with this board?

Too late to RMA with NewEgg so I will be dealing with ASRock on Monday, when they open...

Other Thoughts: It's frustrating when you need to have a core component replaced & the company you need to deal with is f#$%ing closed on weekends. I also can't afford to be without my computer for an extended period of time. I don't blame ASRock, things fail, but I wish there was a speedier solution for resolving this.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that USB ports at the rear are malfunctioned.
We will be more than happy to assist you.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I'm not going to be very helpful in reviewing this other than it's still working 2 years later. UEFI is laid out nice. Not as nice as other manufacturers but I can't complain. Had some issues with the included port shield thing but i believe that was more of my case and not the included shield.

Cons: Uses a slider to lock GPU's in place in the PCI slot. I broke one. Probably me being impatient and not so much a con of the board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat So Far! Dual Booting Win8 and Linux Mint 17

Pros: Installed all the components and it worked first try. I'm running Win8 and Linux Mint 17 and they run beautifully. I like the extra pushbuttons on the board: Power, Reset, and ClrCMOS. I found them very useful when working with the board out out of the case.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well. Trouble with overclocking.

Pros: Stable and looks good. Z77 so it supports Sata3 and USB 3. Has support for two x8 gpus. bla bla bla. Typical mid range motherboard.

Shipped with newest bios.

Asrock has yet to send me a board that I am truly disappointed in.

Cons: UEFI is kind of lame. My other Asrock uefi boards have a nicer bios. Not a big deal.

My main grief is that this board will not overclock my 3770k higher than 4.1ghz. Its not a stability issue, it just wont go higher than 4.1 even if I set it to 4.2 or 4.3. The board just underclocks it when its under load. It will NOT go over 4.1ghz. Its not enough to make me send it back but it is enough to be annoyed with.

My asrock Extreme6 z97 clocked my 4790k to 4.6ghz without a hitch. I am sure I am missing a setting or something but I shouldn't be. The guys on overclockers.net are somewhat stumped as well.

long story short, it is being way too difficult to get a clock higher than 4.1.

did not like my 2600mhz ram when set to xmp1. Had to set them to xmp2 2200mhz.

Other Thoughts: Nice board. Price was kind of high for how old ivy bridge is now. Not a big deal, I willingly bought it. It looks nice, has the features you would expect and it runs well.

2 eggs off for the overclocking issue. I never have ram comparability issues and I never have weird overclocking issues that this board has presented. I have 3 other asrock boards in my home and they allwork well. I will continue to purchase asrock in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with overclocking.
Mainboard has overclocking function. However, overclocking could damage the components as well as mainboard which depend on user’s knowledge, experience and adopted components.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Good price, very good UEFI BIOS for overclocking and great user interface, good number of USB ports, good number of case fan outlets, and good number of SATA's for a beginner.

Cons: This may be more of a pro than a con, but there are only two PCI Express x16 slots on the board. There are more than enough features to make up for this, though.

Other Thoughts: The board come sli/crossfire ready, and it is easy to set up and use. I like that is has a CMOS default reset switch on the outside, near the ports.
