5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly suprised

Pros: Overall great board. has all the main stream connections most users want. once I got into the bios, was easy to setup the CPU, ram etc etc.Cost of board plus rebate made this a no-brainer.

Cons: none yet, hope it lasts longer then 1yr. People complain it only has 5 Sata 3 ports, why would you need more? if you are building a server, then this isn't the board for you. Again, its an overall great mainboard.

Other Thoughts: went into a system that is built for a heavy gamer. User plays WoW a lot, but other game as well. computer able to run on Ultra settings. System contains

Cooler Master 311 Elite case
950 Watt Rosewill PSU
dual NVidia GTX 460s
Asrock 990 FX Extreme3 mainboard
2 sets of G Skill Sniper 8 gig each DDR3 240pin ram (16gigs) set to 9-9-9-24 1T set to 1600mhz due to limitations of CPU
OCZ 240 gig SSD for a boot drive
WD 1T blue drive for storage
DvD rom drive
AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4ghz quad-core CPU
SB Audiogy PCI card

3 out of 5 eggsMaybe

Pros: This motherboard was really good for the first two weeks. It stayed cool, and the programs it came with functioned very well.

Cons: This board stopped recognizing any sata device at all two weeks after I got it, even in the bios.

3 out of 5 eggsMeah,

Pros: works well enough. haven't messed much with the overclock.

Cons: does not have usb 3.0 case connector. idk, I kinda expected more for the money i guess. hasn't overheated yet though.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Unfortunately, mainboard does not come with front USB 3.0 header but at rear I/O.

2 out of 5 eggsGood board but died after 1 year and 1 week

Pros: Overclocked my fx 6300 great
Was fast and stable when worked
Plenty of options in the bios
Great features

Cons: Died after 1 year and 1 week.
Tech Support is useless

Other Thoughts: I contacted tech support and described the problem after going through every part and testing if it worked until I found out it was the motherboard. I then contact support and all they say is that I am right it is the motherboard and that I should contact the seller (Newegg). I then reply back asking if there is anything they can do and they ignore my email. Great motherboard while it lasted but a 1 year warranty on a board that suddenly dies a little after a year is not acceptable. Stay away unless you buy an extended warranty since this seems to be a common problem!

5 out of 5 eggs2 year anniversary!

Pros: Unfortunately it died immediately after the 2 year mark. All the peripherals stopped working, no video, no audio, no beeps, no anything. All fans were running and all LEDs came on the case, swapping parts in a different build confirmed the mobo was dead T_T
but!
The UEFI is nice, plenty of room on the board, x turbo worked well, never had any trouble with the software of the xlan or xusb, both worked fantastic.

Cons: None really, ram eventually became unseated sometimes but it was probably a user error and nothing indicative of manufacturing.

Other Thoughts: Slick looking (;

3 out of 5 eggsWorked for a while

Pros: I recommend this board for people with lower FX processors. Its good for the Price...

Cons: This Board worked great right out of the box. but in the first 4 months or so it started to have failure with the Usb ports and the USB connectors on the the MOBO. Its like the Usb ports don't get enough power or they Override with power for example i was using a Wifi usb adapter and it would just cut off the power, same thing with my keyboard, mouse and headset. I sure you its not my peripherals. Not sure if the FX-8350 doesn't work well with this board but if you have a lower end Processor go head and buy this board its Cheap.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

2 out of 5 eggs1 Year

Pros: Solid features in this price range. Performed solidly with no issues from initial installation through the first year

Cons: Just past the one year anniversary for this board and it flat died. Will not POST, will not power cycle through the case power button. Power button turns on the system and everything powers up, but nothing from the MoBo. No POST tones, nothing. Holding the power button will not force the system to turn off- I have to flip the switch on the PSU (which is confirmed working fine).

Other Thoughts: What's strange is that the system was running fine and then my OS froze- I was then unable to force the power off from the case button and haven't been able to boot up since then, despite checking components individually and cycling power to the board multiple times (including removing the MoBo battery).

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that the mainboard has malfunctioned after 1 year.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard below steps.
Turn the power off, unplug the power.
Clear the CMOS.
Test with single memory module, switch another memory module if problem still persist.
Reseat VGA card and 6 +6 pins PCIE power (if applied).

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: It works flawlessly. Nothing major gave me issues. (See cons)
Having 2 CPU fan headers was nice, one is a 4 pin PWM which I attached the CPU fan to and the other was a 3 pin voltage controlled connector which I attached the top case fan to since it is right above my CPU. Both can be controlled automatically by the system.

Cons: There were a few notable gripes, but nothing worth taking an egg off for.
When connecting the ATX and EPS power connectors to the board I had issues getting the connections to lock. Just make sure you're careful to not damage the PCB when trying to push then into place.
Only one of the PCB's Case Fan headers can be configured to auto control the fan and that one connector is a 4 pin PWM connector. So keep that in mind when connecting case fans. A three pin fan connected to the PWM connector will always run at full speed and cannot be voltage controlled.
Overclocking with this board is very tricky, but its not a huge issue for me since I don't really need to overclock my 8-Core 4Ghz FX processor, but this may be an issue for people who do like to overclock.

Other Thoughts: The PWR fan header can't be auto, nor manually controlled like all other fan headers, but it worked for me since one of my fans has its own thermostat to control its speed.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good motherboard had for a little over 2 years however it has now failed most other companys give 3 yr warranty on thier motherboards such as msi, gigibyte, asus but asrock only gives 1 yr on this motherboard. Would not purchase again due to the fact that you can get 3 times the warrenty by practicaly every other manufactuer.

Cons: Only 1 yr warrenty

3 out of 5 eggsA trooper

Pros: Good price, and a solid product. The LAN suite is nice. I have been using this for close to 3 years now, and it still works (mostly). If you want a no thrills board, then this is it.

Cons: There a couple that make me want to tell you to find another motherboard.
1. The fan headers. Only 2 (CPU, and Case 1) have automatic speed control. The other fans have to be manually set at a speed. Ok, but a pain when your case starts to warm up, you have to manually turn up the fans. There is also a Power fan which is always full on. Why?
2. The software has not been updated in almost a year. ASRock, if you are still selling this board, then please keep the software up to date.
3. Lack of internal USB 3.0 header. I know USB 3 is not native of the SB, but still.
4. On the 8350, you are right at the thermal and power limit of this board, so you can not do much overclocking without stability issues. I think it is a 140Watt power limit, so you are right below that. I got my 8350 to 4400MHz, but any higher will result in issues.

5. I am going to chalk this up to age, but sometimes this board does not want to POST. It takes maybe 4 to 8 power cycles to get a picture on the screen. Fans spin up, but it just does not POST. A full power drain seems to help, but it sometimes takes 5 minutes to get it to boot.

6. See #5
7. See #6

Other Thoughts: 5 SATA ports is the maximum of what the Chipset supports, but it is not enough.

Some minor cons, that do not warrent a bullet.
- Really? Using the last slot as a PCIe? Why not do slot 1,3,5 or 1,3,6? In most cases, the last PCIe slot is useless for a video card.
- No status LEDs or speaker build in.

There are better boards out there for above and below this price point.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Due to power fan has no option to control the speed it will be always on.
For the power cycle and post issue, mainboard will trigger the "'Boot Failure Guard" (reboot 3 times) to set factory default back, if CPU and/or memory setting have adjusted and not match.
Please set the UEFI BIOS default to test.
