1 out of 5 eggsWishing I had stayed with Gigabyte

Pros: Well,it's a good looking board,but aren't they all.

Cons: DOA. No post. Fans came up,but that was the extent of it. Tried troubleshooting with known good parts but was unable to get a post. RMA for replacement, but fear that I will be chasing my tail, based on many of the reviews here.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had done more homework on the item. Have always been a Gigabyte guy,and the one time I test the waters, I get burned.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shooting the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside, place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well
Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered), try with another known good memory if its same issue.
Video card with 6+6 power (if applied)
Power supply with connecting 24 pins + 8 or 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the computer case’s power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than I expected

Pros: -Tons of features
-Black colour scheme(Goes with basically any build)
-Amazing bang-for-the-buck
-Sata III

Cons: -Bios on the board I received was the oldest one, no big deal, warehouses exist as storage, not the reason for the egg dock.
-In my gf's pc so I can't look at it.

Other Thoughts: Egg was docked because as it seems great and all I can't say for sure that it is a 100% amazing product as I don't use it enough to get familiar with it.

She uses her PC for drawing and content creation as well as some gaming when she wants.

Pc it's used in has:
Phenom II x4 975
16 gb LP vengeance memory 1600mhz
Gigabyte 5870 1gb
XFX 850w Pro
Kinston HyperX 3k 120gb
WD Black 1TB
All inside of the Thermaltake Commander

1 out of 5 eggsGreat potential but falls flat

Pros: Has the potential to be a great board for a great price

Cons: Weak support for higher end video cards, very low quality board. Its like they built the board and assumed it would work without ever doing any good quality control tests.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board as an upgrade from a quad core lga 775 board. It would only recognize low end gpu's an not high nd or dual cards in sli, and when it did work it only worked sporatically. I tried every possible test i could. Including what asrock suggests, which is nothing more than basic troubleshooting. Nothing worked.

1 out of 5 eggsDead!

Pros: solid board until it would not post and now acts like its dead!

Cons: Wont post, no beep, no video, nada nothing!!!

Other Thoughts: not sure what Newegg or ASROCK will do since I bought this board back in August but this will be the test if a company stands behind there product. I know motherboards can be very touchy and most of the time is user error but in this case it just died.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Machine

Pros: 2 full speed PCI x16 Slots, even if it isn't 3.0. Supports a ton of chips so there are many options from just a work pc to a high end gaming machine. I upgraded from an older board and it was able to unlock a Phenom II x4 960 to 6 cores where as the last board that I had could not. Crossfire works great and thought I am not currently using it I can say for sure that it handles two 7950's in crossfire with a breeze.

Cons: The bios out of the box may not support all hardware. PLEASE make sure to flash the bios as soon as you get it to the latest release to support all of your hardware.

Other Thoughts: When I got it it was using the first revision of the bios, which didn't support my 960t. Thankfully I had a Phenom 2 720 sitting around that would allow me to flash the bios and use the chip. This is certainly not Asrock's fault since the 960t came out after the manufacture of this board. Keep this in mind if you're going to use a newer chip, but I've had this for over a year so the ones manufactured now could have the newer bios revisions installed.

1 out of 5 eggsToo Light for a Boat Anchor

Pros: They were great while they lasted. The replacement was shipped promptly.

Cons: The first one lasted a couple of months; then wouldn't post. Resetting the CMOS worked sporadically, but restarting the OS would result in zilch. Eventually it reached the point that it would not display anything, wouldn't even beep.

The replacement board lasted for 3 months or so until I shut it down to add a second HD for data storage. I disconnected the power, connected the second HD, but when starting back up, nada, appeared dead as a doornail. Reset CMOS and it let me get into to Setup once, but neither the keyboard, nor the mouse would work.

Repeated the CMOS thing a few more times with no luck. So I'm done, I give up.

Other Thoughts: I am not going to RMA this one, since I don't want to take a chance of going through this carp for a third time. I will just consider it a lesson learned (to stay away from ASRock products in the future).

Now I'm off to shop for another MB, obviously not another ASRock.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sorry to hear the second mainboard has malfunctioned after 3 months which due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please trouble shooting the mainboard for below steps with known good components;
Remove the mainboard from inside computer to outside. Place the mainboard on top of the empty mainboard’s box
Clear the CMOS
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan as well

Video card with 6+6 power (if applied)
Power supply with connecting 24 pins + 8 or 4 pins ATX power to the mainboard
Plug the computer case’s power switch to mainboard's front panel power header and try again
If it's get the screen post, set the UEFI BIOS default to test if the symptom still occurs.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Solid board, extra power for CPU, good position for PCI slots if you use crossfire and PCI.

Cons: No LED or speaker on board which makes it difficult to diagnose any issues. Also, the drivers cd is packed to the gills with malware.

Other Thoughts: The drivers CD is ridiculous. The express install puts like 10 malware apps on your computer. Never been so horrified by a motherboard software CD.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Mainboard comes with front system headers to connect with case’s connectors for indication. Unfortunately, mainboard does not provide chassis speaker but computer cases. For the driver disc, the CD has options for select to install desires drivers, utility and applications unless chosen to install all. 1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE BOARD

Pros: Looks nice, and has a lot of nice features when it's not freezing.

Cons: I originally bought mine in October of 2012 and a month ago one of the SATA ports died. So naturally I RMA'd it. I sent it out and it took just over 3 weeks to get my replacement!!!!! After waiting so long I was happy to see my replacement board on my doorstep. I put the new one in my system and it was worse than my last one. It was freezing constantly, no matter what hardware was installed. I originally had an FX8320 and a HD7970 on it and it just wouldn't work right. I downed it to a Athlon II X2 and a HD6850 and still the same result. I thought maybe it was a problem with the OS or something, I tried just about everything with it and it still freezes. It even has the latest BIOs and everything. So I contacted ASRock support and they asked for my RMA# and I sent it and still haven't heard back and that was 2-3 weeks ago. I have tried contacting them 6 times through e-mail and get no response. I think they are waiting out the 30 day warranty so they don't have to give me a working board. Now I'm stuck with a board that doesn't work, and I had to go buy a different board to get my system running. I ended up switching to MSI and I have had ZERO issues since switching. I'd also like to note that I used all the same components that were on the ASRock board for my MSI board. So as a recommendation do NOT buy from ASRock, there customer service is horrible as well as there products. You will end up wasting time and money with them.

Other Thoughts: If I could give 0 eggs it would be that.
