1 out of 5 eggsDon't be Fooled

Pros: It was cheaper than the competition, not by much, but cheaper

Cons: DOA.
You wont believe this either. I accidentally bought two motherboards. I selected two in the cart and somehow I never noticed and went ahead and purchased two of them. I thought I was lucky that I bought two once the first one came DOA. Nope, the second one was DOA too. I couldn't believe it.

Other Thoughts: Two DOA motherboards. Awful quality.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear both mainbaords are DOA. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure the quality.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard with known good components and monitor.
Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
Clear the CMOS.
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered).
Reseat video card firmly and 6+6 power (if applied).
Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.
Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: I have always liked Asrock boards. I had one back in 2004 -2006 and it was very nice. One of the best running boards I had used at the time. I bought another Around 2006 that was dead from the beginning which made me a little leery about this board, but I thought what the heck all manufacturers can have a defect once in a while. Now I am really skeptical about buying another. This one after a few months seemed a little flaky and now about 16 months in it is DOA, Very disappointing.

Cons: Like a few of the other reviews I have looked at. The board is a little short, but as a tech from way back, I still have some of the old standoffs that snap into the board that prevent the board from flexing at least while installing ram and the power connector. Any good tech knows to hold the board near the power connector while unplugging the connector.

Other Thoughts: I saw another post about this board not supporting the FX 8350 processor. I have the 8320 and it ran fine. Not sure about Asrock's site, but under specifications on New Eggs site it shows to support these processors. Thinking about another one more time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Very solid board. The construction is sturdy and i havent had any issues with it in the 3 years ive been using it .. and i just ordered new upgrades for it .. 3 years old and i still got upgrades .. :D

Overclocking is very easy and safe b/c of its switch feature on the motherboard. of course it will use more wattage but if you are a huge multitasker this is a big bonus for you ..

I use the amd phenom II 1090 T 6 core with it and it has some great OC specs.

Cons: Very touchy if you are trying to put in two different kinds of rams.. the versatility of different parts even if they are on two separate bridges isn't that great.

Other Thoughts: For the price this board will out work and out last and gigabyte and asus board. i would recommend this board to anyone. and if you plan on building a budget rig here is a good start..

3 out of 5 eggsgood for a basic board

Pros: stable

Cons: its not wide enough to reach the third row of mounting screws so you have to be very careful installing and removing memory and power connector. it can bend enough to snap the board.

i'm sure asrock makes better boards than this but theres no excuse to make it too narrow to where only 6 screws hold it on. last asrock board i'll buy

3 out of 5 eggsWorked well for a while

Pros: Cheap, stable, decent BIOS and lots of fan control. Seriously, I miss the fan control from this board it was glorious.

Cons: The sizing didn't sit very well in my rosewill challenger, 2 of the motherboard standoffs along the top were attachable but the 3rd on the far right corner was not, and it lead to the eventual downfall of my board. Plugging in the 24pin power caused the board to flex an alarming amount, the same happened when installing memory. The board still worked fine for over a year after initial installation. Attempting to remove the 24pin power however proved fatal.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I'd buy this board again and put it in a system im not toying with all the time, it would probably still be chugging along had I not removed the motherboard from my case. But you SHOULD be able to remove a motherboard more times than never once.

Pros: cheap at time of purchase for a 970 board

Cons: less than a year had to contact asrock for a replacement board due to the mobo catching fire for some odd reason at the 24 pin ps connector. minus 2 eggs
