5 out of 5 eggsGood features

Pros: Nice motherboard.

Lots of features, lots of options in BIOS. Plenty of room for expansion.

Decent integrated video card, will drive Blu-Ray with no problem at 1080p. Even better, it will still run if you plug in a PCI-Express card. A lot of motherboards don't let them run simultaneously.

Cons: Some minor BIOS oversights.

1. Only two modes for power-on after power outage: on and off. Does not have "last power status." Very annoying if you turn off your computer, and experience power outages.

2. Floppy drive is on by default. Should be off by default in this day-and-age.

The 90-degree turn for the 4 SATA ports should've shipped loose, as a separate part -- to let you choose.

Other Thoughts: Previous reviewers mentioned that you need BIOS update to run Phenom II x6 at full speed. Not anymore -- now ships out-of-the-box with support in the BIOS.

5 out of 5 eggsM3A785GXH/128M Motherboard

Pros: GREAT price. Easy Installation and Setup. Posted on first attempt. Didn't need any BIOS updates to boot quickly and properly. ALL features worked perfectly (see Cons). Great software for drivers and monitoring system performance. Runs cool. Sideport Rocks!

Cons: This is my second board - The first had to be returned because of on-board video failure.

Other Thoughts: Overclocked easily to 3.52 Mhz through provided software.

System:

Phenom II 955 (BE)
G-Skill 10666 RAM (2 x 2 GB ) DDR3 1600

1 out of 5 eggsWaiting for a replacement...

Pros: Shipping was fast and the board looks great =) has 3 pci-e 2.0,hdmi, s/pdif, sata, 3 fan connection (chasis fan) + cpu fan. The price was cheap for this gamer board. Im building my second PC and decided to go with ASRock MoBo..... BUT!

Cons: Receive my item, open the box... The product was already damge in the upper right corner near the 24-pin connector. One of the pci-e 2.0's locking hooks was also damage and i cant seem to put my vga all the way into it... Anyway i did still tried the MoBo hoping it will work so i place the cpu, connect the ram hdd, vga and the psu. Everything was good to go turn it on and no boot! everything was on, the fans were working but no beep sound! no display! tried reseatting every parts/connections still no luck... RMA is the answer hahah! =)

Other Thoughts: For now this is the score for this product until i get my replacement/new board. Until then i will post a new review when i try my new board hopefully it works fine...

Plans for new PC:

amd phenom ii x4 955 (cpu)
ASRock M3A785GXH/128M (mobo) (waiting for the replacement...)
geil ddr3 1333 (2x2gb) (mem)
asus eah5770 (gpu)
coolermaster 500w (psu)
coolermaster 212 plus (cpu cooler)
seagate barracuda 7200 rpm 500gb (hdd)
rosewill challenger (mid atx tower)
asus multi (blk cd/dvd)
sony card reader (all-in-1)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard with a few minor issues

Pros: Great looking motherboard. Perfect for beginners and amateur overclockers. Has 3 fan ports+1 CPU fan port, so it has native support for most case's fan layouts. Also is CrossfireX Ready, with an easy to use crossfire switch for up to x3! Has some great preset OC settings for OC noobs. I set at 15% oc with stock dell sink.

Cons: Doesn't have native support for the Phenom II x6. If you have this CPU, it will only run at x6 @800Mhz/core until you flash the bios. I recommend using the Windows Application on the ASRock website, and not the Instant Flash app in bios. Instant Flash was worse than a hemorrhoid to fix up, and I wouldn't recommend trying it. The windows flash app is very easy. Takes about 30 seconds, so don't be afraid newbies. The biggest issue is the darn north bridge heatsink, which is idiotically placed right next to a PCIe x 1 port, blocking larger cards. However, I'm pretty sure you can get a better sink aftermarket. Haven't looked into it yet.

3 out of 5 eggsAmost perfect with one HORRIBLE design flaw

Pros: Good build quality, lots of slots, works with the new six core cpus CHEAP you you can tri-fire or x-fire + physX (But not if you want a sound card see cons)

Cons: 1. The USB doesn't put out enough power to power all of your back lit gaming stuff at once so if you get this board get a powered USB hub.
2.(This one is what ruins it) The placement of a very tall heat sink about 2 inches behind means that you can't put a sound card in the x1 slot and you have to sacrifice one of the x16s I bought this board and 2 5850s along with a 260+ and a sound blaster fata1ty and expected them all to fit in the slots that were there. They don't. With this board you have to pick which you love more graphics or sound. BTW the on board sound is awful. I game hard and push eyefinity and surround sound and despite my feelings on the matter a dedicated physX card is required to max out some of the games I play. If you're looking to just tri-fire and you don't care this board is great and will do everything you want it to But if you spend the money to run 3 GPUs then you probably don't cut corners with sound either and in that case buy another board.

Other Thoughts: I can only find one board that can hold 3 double slot cards and a sound card that's am3 it is MSI but is for SLI which means I won't buy it. Even the new 4 slot ROG boards from asus you can't have 3 dual slot cards and a sound card. Whoever sees this void in the market is going to get my money on the day it comes out. Modding this board's heat sink isn't really an option due to the really poor placement without liquid cooling and I just don't like the idea of all the what ifs involved with liquid.

1 out of 5 eggsPhenom II x6

Pros: This motherboard has all the function I wanted at a good price.

Cons: The board was defective. However, even if it had worked there were some serious issues: The motherboard would not recognize my CPU without a BIOS update. The BIOS update from ASRock was very difficult to peform. It wouldn't work on a NTSF boot disk so I had to use one of my flash memory sticks. It also said to make a bootable flash memory stick but it did not give instructions. I had to peice instructions together from various websites and cross my fingers. After about THREE hours I made it work. Then after I did the BIOS update there were about 5 drivers that wouldn't load and my Windows XP wouldn't load to the desktop.

Other Thoughts: ASRock's customer service online is basically non-existant so don't expect any help from them.
If you've got a six core processor you might want to wait and see if anyone else gets one to work with this board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Great board. My first "custom" build since I separated with shuttles. The board seems to have some straight forward settings in bios and software for overclocking. I can't say yay or nay for how well it overclocks since I have not had time to truly tweak it. It does have profiles for different user defined bios settings.

Unlocked both dormant cores in my AMD X2 C3 with one setting.

For the past month it has been running Ubuntu 10.04 and sometimes Windows 7 smoothly.

Cons: Not really negative just general annoyances.

Bit of a pain with plugging in the case header connections but that is with almost all boards.

24pin power connector is way up there if you use a bottom mounted PSU.

No bios reset switch.

Physical paddle switch to activate crossfire.

Other Thoughts: Was gonna buy the Gigabyte 3+3+3 motherboard for SATA 3 and USB 3 but realized I don't have any components that use that tech yet. You save a lot of money if buy for what you need and use and not what you might need.

Pros: Easy setup. Works great with AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor and G-Skill Ram. Loaded windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit easily.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Will use ASrock MOBO again for next custom build

5 out of 5 eggsNice mobo

Pros: Set-up was a breeze. Lots of bios options. Took my son 10 seconds to unlock my Callisto 3.1Ghz 550 dual core to 4 cores. Overclocked to 3.5Ghz(stable) using Amd overdrive w/o any other changes to voltage etc... On-board video (very surprised)will play games at lower settings but recommend getting after market card if u demand the fastest and best frames per second. Also the northbridge gets pretty warm running games w/o add-on video card.

Cons: Not really a con but if you plan on replacing stock cpu cooler you might have to remove the northbridge heatsink temporarily (possibly even replace or modify depending on your application). I just needed the room to rotate the lever that locks the cpu cooler down and it was well worth my cpu temp drop. (cpu cooler: Scythe SCKTN-3000 92mm Sleeve KATANA3). So keep in mind to get extra thermal paste to re-apply n.b. heatsink. Oh i thought of 1 (real) con and that is that people are paying more and get less with other manufacturers.

Other Thoughts: I noticed on my old mobo that when i removed power supply connector that it was a little bit discolored(due to electric(which = heat transfer) I think its obvious that this connector produces heat and should NOT be located near critical components such as ram (which in my case runs hot anyways) like on this board. My old board is an ASRock K7VM4(9 yrs old) and still runs strong but just wouldn't cut it anymore for the games i play. Keep up the great work ASRock.
