3 out of 5 eggsFrustrated

Pros: Ran well for the most part. RMA was easy.

Cons: Customer service, bent CPU pins

Other Thoughts: RMA'd the first time for SLi issues. It was sent back with a paper saying "OK'. I had the same issues. I RMA'd my two GPUs and got a new SLi bridge. No dice. After many troubleshooting attempts, I RMA'd this mobo a second time for bent CPU pins. After shipping it through USPS, it arrived at Biostar with the corner (where the it attaches to the case) was broken. The box appeared damaged in the pictures they included with the email saying they would not honor my warranty because it arrived damaged. I explained this situation with customer service and they were unsympathetic, as if one of the mounting screws not being there would cause my SLi issues. My problem should have been fixed the first time I RMA'd the board. I cannot recommend the service I received when RMAing. The board ran well otherwise, which is why I give it three stars. I'm frustrated. $230~ may not be much to a company like Biostar, but for me and my family, it took months of saving for me to build this PC the way I wanted it. Sorry for the life story, but I felt it necessary for the reader to understand my point of view.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard. King of the Price/Performance LGA 2011 Mobo

Pros: Price/Performance Ratio. Very Stable , looks good. It hangs at the same performance as the most expensive ones that double the price of this hidden Gem. Everything working flawlessly 100%.

Cons: None at this price.

Other Thoughts: Installed a 3930K , 16GB of ddr3-2133 ram 4x4GB G. Skill , MSI HD7970 Lightning , 2x Samsung 830 128GB Raid0 OS and 1 WD 1TB HD for storage. PC Power & Cooling MK-2 750w. Running like a champ , zero , nada problems so far. Bought it with a $30USDollar Discount promo code , for $199USDollars it was a very good deal. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far!

Pros: A lot of great features for a board that is relatively affordable, as far as X79 boards go anyway. Sturdy construction and an easy layout to work with adds to the appeal of this component. Looks good in the case too!

Cons: Lack of fan headers makes buying a fan controller a must.

Other Thoughts: No regrets, a $25 fan controller makes this the perfect board.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far very good

Pros: First board was flaky, easy RMA, second board has done everything I've asked from it. BioStar tech support was very good and expeditious. Having had issues with the other two big MoBo boys tried BioStar, certainly look at them again at upgrade time.

Cons: Not enough SATA 6gb ports

2 out of 5 eggsUnstable, finicky, nothing but trouble.

Pros: Lots of features, good granular management.

Cons: Very picky about hardware, poor reliability, broken disk management, Biostar support is awful (the website has constant timeouts when attempting self-help), beta features in a shipped product. Dreadful disk I/O.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board based on the ratings and the lower price point. My primary purpose was large workflows using RED footage, so I wanted a really fast machine with great I/O. I wish I had just ponied up the extra money because this thing has been nothing but headaches. The BIOS is great, but the actual function of the board leaves a great deal to be desired. I get blue screens when direct I/O access occurs from third party applications such as SeaDisk, large I/O locks the entire bus and my system grinds to a halt. The disk performance on the board is just horrible. PCIe 3rd Gen is supported as beta rather than being fully matured. Half of the performance options that should be working cause the board not to boot with nothing attached. The intel boot manager can't boot if the secondary controller is full so you can't even use all of the internal SATA ports. If you are building a computer for performance where I/O is important, skip this and get something stable. If you're just building a gaming box where huge I/O isn't an issue, it's OK but don't expect to get help from their site if you run into trouble.

1 out of 5 eggsBiostar VS asus

Pros: Biostar is supposedly a "big" brand.

Cons: I got an ASUS P9X79 LE to replace this failed Biostar and I can say after comparison boy it is day and night. The Bios on the asus is so much better, there is a lot of bios upgrade versions to correct bugs over time (not the case with Biostar even if a lot of stuff could could be improved) my USB ports are working all the time on the Asus, not the case with Biostar and the software that are delivered with the Asus are real professional software that works and does not create blue screens when loaded. Very impressed with Asus superiority (not that I did not knew that already).

1 out of 5 eggsRMA service is pityfull

Pros: the board looks nice, the price is good.

Cons: The USB ports worked intermittently for the few month the board worked. had to use the PS2 port and remote destop because I do not wanted to deal with RMA. After few month of great use the board died. Filled their form and bureaucratic information and few weeks later received the board back with a simple mark on the pen on the top saying "Sorry, Not repairable. Items is warped / bent, NOT covered under warranty. " I am very careful with my hardware so I do not understand how the card got bend. I do not remember to have seen such a disaster when sent, but go to prove it... Anyway, I am done with Biostar, not worse the time lost for such a poor result / service. Very frustrating and time consuming. I'll read the review more carefully about RMA before picking my next brand.

I mounted more than 1000 working desktops pc's in my life so I am not really a beginner and aware of all the issues mistakes and no no with electronics components. On things I learned after all this years, when the organisation, website and RMA are so flaky the quality is not here neither.

Other Thoughts: Mainboard Bios releases are very rare and often beta versions, the website for downloads is not working very often had to email support to get the file as the link was broken on the site, another deception. I lost less time to fill this review than the whole process requested to return the board. Make you think...

5 out of 5 eggsWOW what a great board!

Pros: Its got everything i need and more. the price is great the product is wounderfull and most importantly it POSTS. iv allways been a little leary of biostar in the past as they have a reputation to cut some corners on their lower end products but this has really been an Eye opener and i can say their high end products have everything you need in high quality while still cutting the uneeded fat.

Cons: Most LGA 2011 boards support 8 dimms at 64gb ram.... not that i need that but haveing the option would have been nice. but since that probably took the price down $60 im not going to complain to much

Other Thoughts: while maybe not the Swankest 2011 board on the block its definetly got the price point and quality all shored up. i give them 3 thumbs up on this one
