5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Easy install, no problems. Wonderful to have extra spacing for SLI. Cheap. Rebate actually came.

Cons: Biostar's utilities are a little primitive.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Wasnt DOA,100% solid cap, easy to follow diagnostics the bios has a good variety of settings and for my intended purpose the board has a great layout. The company also has fast an great tech support.

Cons: it went on sale 2 weeks after i bought it with a nice rebate
The manual could have been a bit more detailed on some basics since it did seem to lend a large portion of itself to the overclock settings.

Other Thoughts: I had faulty ram but questioned if maybe it was the type of ram i was using as google led me to beleive. After a quick call to biostar they helped me troubleshoot and even gave me a few ram recommendations outside of the stuff listed on the website. Dont let the lack of reviews scare you its a solid board with good support behind it.

5 out of 5 eggsT-POWERful!

Pros: Durable board, extensive and easy overclocking (automatic voltage adjustments for processor and ram). BIOS are truly excellent, boot times are great, has 2 PCIe x16 slots. Manual is helpful, drivers are minimalistic and non-intrusive. Has enough space to support anything I've thrown at it so far!

Cons: Sometimes on my board, I have to hit reset before the board will even POST. Not worth retracting an egg, though. Also, whichever idiot put the first SATA connector bay RIGHT UNDERNEATH the first PCIe x16 slot (AKA, right under the graphics card) has my deepest sympathy.

Other Thoughts: This is the motherboard I used to build my first custom PC, and I've been very happily impressed. It's amazingly durable--I forgot to put spacers in when initially mounting the motherboard and grounded the whole thing out against the metal in my case, but it STILL BOOTED after remounting with the proper spacers! BIOS are easy and intuitive, the manual is's just a good board! Might get a little tight trying to do an SLi or CrossFireX configuration with two Radeon 5970's or equivalent--the body of my single 5970 almost extends over the second PCIe slot. Still, excellent first board. I will be buying more Biostar products in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid @ 4 GHz @ 1.26 Volts

Pros: Xeon W3520 @ 4 GHz (24/7) @ 1.26 Volts
Runs cool with good ventilation.
BIOS settings of a much higher end X58 board.
Very heavy duty construction.

Cons: IO shield is flimsy. That's all I could come up with. LOL

Other Thoughts: Price to Performance Ratio and OC ability is unmatched by any other mobo including Asus and EVGA. IMHO
Too bad it's not as popular as other brands boards. It should be.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the fastest booting mobos ever.

Pros: I've built nearly 100 computers using a variety of mobos and this one by far is the fastest booting mobo I ever built. There is no Fast Boot option in the BIOS either. Up close it looks ver heavy duty made. Look like it will last and i never had issues with Biostar. BIOS is mind numbingly extensive, which usually means it can overclock to no end.

Cons: None so far.

4 out of 5 eggsBiOStAr

Pros: Biostar products have not failed me yet. I take it out of box fire her up and BAM i'm running my system that has msi drivers loaded i didnt even bother to redo the system. I am going to but im lazy. over clocked my I7 to 3.2 and the system is running my corsair mem at 1333. life is good. going to push the DO stepping 920 higher but I'm waiting on my megahalems with noise blocker fans. all my temps are fine in my HAF. Try the board.

Cons: if one decided to throw a sli into the system with this board may want to think about space looks to me things could get cramped after sli and maybe a sound card or something for physics. Color Scheme! biostar could do better here (much better!)if they opted for a look like something from foxconn, and what they have done with the blood rage, and combine that with the OC ability biostar has shown with the x48 and x58. I think they could be really on to something.

Other Thoughts: I used to be Asus man all day every day; then my asus boards would come standard with problems such as: pci slots falling off, faulty mem slots and bad usb ports. One man can only take so much before you decide enough is enough. I chose biostar cause I have a couple AMD boards still running after almost 2 years, and I like to root for the smaller guy.
Core I7 920, Biostar X58a, Corsair cheap memory (soon to change to Mushkin redlines) Corsair 750Tx, Evga 260, coolermaster HAF Full tower and a soon to be in my case Megahalems in a push pull config with 2 noise blocker 1800 rpm fans. and generic harddrives (for now) Biostar x58 eye of terror edition!

5 out of 5 eggsMore then I expected

Pros: Very low price. Supports up to 24gb of ram (even if that is over kill). Works as expected.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I was a little worried about buying this since I never heard of Biostar before but I would definitely buy more of there products.

2 out of 5 eggsA disappointment...

Pros: Price is OK and booted right up... IOH Temps are around around 50 degrees C, compared to around 60-65 degrees for the MSI X58 Platinum SLI.

Cons: All the USB ports were faulty... would not run my Corsair XMP RAM at 1600MHz... even though the MSI does. Compared to the MSI board, the documentation is a joke... hardly any BIOS details are explained so if you have no idea what certain things mean, then stay out of it! The MSI board explains every detail and feature of the BIOS. USB controller was defective.

Other Thoughts: This was my fourth Biostar motherboard and I swore by their products... until this one came along. For some reason, everytime I started my PC and booted into windows Vista 64, it would not recognize any of my USB peripherals. I had to restart the computer each and every time to get it recognize them. Even while using my PC, it would randomly disconnect my USB keyboard, network adapter, etc for no reason. I tried updating all the drivers, including the Biostar motherboard/chipset drivers, and nothing worked. I went to "small" Center and picked up a MSI X58 Platinum SLI board for much less and it works perfectly.

I really had no problems ever with Biostar on my 3 prior boards, it's a shame to have to send this back...

5 out of 5 eggshigh end x58 with budget price

Pros: -Good price on a feature complete x58 mobo.

-Crazy ocing ability. I prefer to hand pick all oc settings, but just playing with the automated features this board can take my i7 920 to 4ghz on it's own.

-Outstanding power management.
Great layout.

-Supports up to 24gb RAM (some x58's only do 12gb)

-Easy to understand BIOS.

-Does a great job of re-applying settings on failed oc's on it's own.

Cons: lesser known name.

Other Thoughts: I would highly endorse this board for anyone. Why you wouldn't pay the lower price for a feature complete mobo is beyond me. Things are running flawlessly and I didn't even need a BIOS update!
