1 out of 5 eggsJust plain bad

Pros: When it works, nothing to complain about.

Cons: Power-on issues, flakey USB, bad quality control.

Other Thoughts: 2 out of 2 MBs have had issues. The first one reported a NB temp of 102 degrees C and was RMA'ed. The second one suffers from 2 different issues:
1. Every third power-on you need to hit reset to get the MB to make it past POST
2. USB is very flakey and sometimes needs multiple restarts for it to work fully.

Replacing this MB with one from another manufacturer. Done with Biostar.

2 out of 5 eggsFlakey.

Pros: Without too much trouble I'm running Windows x64 @ 3.9GHz and can play games with very high stability.

Cons: Most of the adapters have proven to be very flakey. To get most USB devices to recognize I must insert the device and then restart the computer.

One of my Network Adapters just died after a few months of use. I guess that's why they put two of them on there....

Other Thoughts: I would not but this board after using it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Job Biostar

Pros: Newegg is simply the best! I've been buying from them for the past decade, and I'm always impressed with their people, products, and quality of service. With that said, this Biostar motherboard is very nice. I did a lot of research before buying this board. The heat pipe design is what caught my attention and I could not find any other board that offered a better design. If you buy this board, and opt to use three stick of RAM, make sure that you fill the orange slots first. The X58 chipset will not enter the POST if these slots are empty and you attempt to use the white slots first. This is not documented anywhere. Thanks to the great tech support at Biostar, I was able to correct my mistake and I'm now up rock solid.

Cons: Absolutely none. The manual is not that great, but thanks to the good folks at Biostar you are covered. If you need help dial 1-626-581-1055 and enter 2 for tech support.

Other Thoughts: Everything about this board is impressive. For example, the HD audio brings your music and game sound to life. I am playing COD4 and Left 4 Dead, and I hear sounds that I could not hear before! Music sounds absolutely incredible! The BIOS has lots of neat features - setting up my RAID array was very intuitive. I overclocked my i7 to 3 Ghz with just one BIOS setting change. With my older dual core E6750 CPU and platform, I could transcode a one hour AVI to a DVD file format in about 45 minutes. Both E6750 cores were at 100%. With the i7 920 and this board, all 8 logical cores work at about 30% and that time is less than 8 minutes. My system is very stable with Windows Vista Business edition. If you are considering an i7 chip, this is the motherboard that you need to get. Biostar really did a great job on this product!

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost a 5 egg review

Pros: Very nice board with plenty of features. Ton's of USB, stay's relatively cool, overclocking is a snap with their AOE (automatic overclocking engine) which gives you various presets to overlcock your processor.

You can also overclock manually if you prefer. Memory options in BIOS. Can support up to 24gb of memory, I have 3x 2GB Corsair modules in mine. I didn't have to update BIOS to get it recognized, I may have got a board with updated BIOS already, I bought this board in April.

Flashed the BIOS though since I thought the onboard censor was displaying incorrectly. Kudo's to the guy who figured out it was displaying in hex though. Mine displays 10 which in hex would be 16ºC so it still doesn't seem right. Tpower utility reports 31ºC with a moderate load.

The board is also quite a looker, with pleasing aeshetic design, layout, and color selection.

Cons: I could not get the digital optical toslink out to work on this board when using HDMI video out on my HD4870. I had an ATI HDMI audio driver installed but even when I disabled it, nothing.

I only got audio from this board when I plugged in VGA out and used standard 3.5mm audio, the optical still wouldn't work.

Plugging in the toslink cables I would get no red light from the other end. I even switched with cables I knew to be working and, nothing.

Even opening the HD audio manager, it was not detecting that any cables were plugged in, even though would detect any other standard 3.5mm jack.

I think my optical out port was dead, and it's why I docked one egg on this board. Even if it was user error, there are too many conflicts and it's not clear enough on how to set it up.

Had to resort to ripping out a Turtble Beach 7.1 of another PC and then use unofficial C-media drivers (no official Vista x64 drivers) which caused Steam to stop working. Bleh.

Other Thoughts: Even despite the audio issues, I am happy with this board.

And oh yeah, the stickers did suck. Yeah it's not a huge deal, but I too had to spend a decent chunk of time cleaning gummy residue off of my slots. A tiny sliver of paper ripped off and got stuck in the RAM slot and it took a while to carefully extract that since I didn't want it causing any sort of problems down the line.

Other than that, very stable board, overclocking is a snap, looks good, no issues other than optical audio port. I may even try to fiddle with it again down the line who knows... maybe after another BIOS update and driver update for the audio.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Capabality for some serious Overclock features with ability to save different profiles. Runs real cold and had no problems through the entire build. Audio features are are top notch for this one.

Cons: do you homework on everything you put on this board. Wrong settings can severly damage your accesories. Not for a novice builder. the back jack plate is kinda flimsy. Doesn't line up right if you have to bump out the motherboard on the box

Other Thoughts: Would have thought more about what VGA cards to stuff in it
