1 out of 5 eggsECS Z77H2-A3(1.2) LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I received my MIR.

Cons: 1st board had UEFI problems. Make a selection in Advanced Settings and a box appeared four inches below and off to the side with nothing written there but you would have to click in the vicinity of that box to select whatever setting you originally set out to select. Problem continued with UEFI upgrade or downgrade. Repeated attempts to use the simple overclock feature resulted in a board that would not boot a video card, one long eight short beeps, until you do a CMOS reset to Onboard video then you can go back to use video card. Tried 3 different vid cards, 2 different power supplies and two 3rd generation CPUs and two different sets of RAM all with the same results, in a case, and out of the case on the box it came in. Finally RMAed it.

Other Thoughts: They replaced it with a board that had the same exact issues. Their last communication with me over a month ago was that they had not heard of similar problems and they would try to duplicate my issues by testing this particular MB. I made a few inquiries as to the progress but have not received a reply

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT PURCHASE

Pros: -Cheap Motherboard
-Nothing else

Cons: -It is cheaply made
-The bios is terrible and hard to navigate, you can only use it for a few minutes before glitches appear and you have to restart the computer.
-My cpu overheats like crazy with the i5-3570k--stock cooler. Overclocked at 3.5 ghz, the cpu was at an idle temp of around 35 celsius and during a cpu test with occt, it rose to 90 celsius! Even in the bios it was about 35-40 celcius.
-It is falsely advertised to have a dvi port under the vga, but when mine arrived, there was no dvi port, but instead a hdmi to the side of the vga.
-The cpu fan is obnoxiously loud even at idle. Even with the loud cpu fan, the cpu still overheated and turning the fan to silent made no difference to the loudness of it whatsoever.
-On the default settings, the cpu will overclock to sometimes 20%-40% over the default speed. I eventually turned that off, but unfortunately the cpu underclocks and there is no way to overclock it even a little bit.
-On an underclock the fan is still very loud and the cpu continues to overheat.

Other Thoughts: The dvi port is not an issue if you don't need a dvi port or if you want an hdmi.
I sent the motherboard in for an rma, but it was very difficult because I cut out the upc for a rebate. I got it rma'd because of the false advertising for the dvi. But it takes 4-7 days to ship back, then 3-5 days to process so Newegg rma sucks.
I am going to replace it with a GIGABYTE GA-Z77-HD3. My friend got it and it is apparently very good.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Price With The Rebate

Pros: Z77 for $60! Everything on this board was pretty much plug-and-play. The only thing I had to adjust was the speeds of my case fans, which was extremely easy to do.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not really a con because I knew what I was buying, but I wish it was bigger with more space to fit my aftermarket CPU fan and heatsink. No eggs off though, just going to get a thinner one,

1 out of 5 eggsComponents not agreeing with each other

Pros: Very easy to install and quite foolproof BIOS. Price is really good for the specifications listed.

Cons: For some odd reason it is rejecting the PCI Express x16 GPU's I've tried out. I read a testimonial online that some of the ECS motherboards have problems with too much RAM and that they don't play nicely together. I've tried disabling the onboard graphics card via the BIOS as well as uninstalling and re-installing all of the drivers. I'm building a rig for my friend and this happens and it's almost not worth the frustration. Compatibility is also an issue I've heard this motherboard deals with.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your video. If you haven't already, please do contact us. We would like to find out more specific on your issue and system configuration. we woud like to work with you in finding a solution.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Pros: - Great value for the price
- All 3 motherboards worked perfectly right out of the box

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am usually very conservative when it comes to buying motherboards. I read through the reviews and only buy motherboards with many positive reviews. I took a chance on this motherboard as it only had 3 reviews when I ordered it. And, I ordered 3 of them. I am happy to report that this motherboard has been great after a couple of weeks of service. Physical installation and connection of drives, etc. was very straightforward. The included drivers installed with no problems (can't say that about too many motherboards). Two of the motherboards are in servers that run 24/7. They have been up and running for over a week.

5 out of 5 eggsMotherboard

Pros: Motherboard was combined with a 20nm Intel and has a 6GB Sata that combined with a SSD provided a lightening fast system. Very small design allowed it to fir in a tight server configuration, and the system has been running 'lights out' for a couple of weeks, the only access we need is remote desktop, always boots up, runs a complex video cctv application that records 100's of gigabytes of video daily, mates well with the 12 Tb raid NAS, really not using USB or any PCI slots, just networking off the MB. a 60 Gb SSD and a 1.5 Tb temporary storage drive.

Cons: Actually, I did use the USB's during the install of Windows 7 professional, the external USB DVD drive booted fine and installed Windows fine. So the USB's work well too.

Other Thoughts: Motherboards can be hit or miss. I returned a more expensive ASUS and used this MB instead. Normally I like ASUS the best, but this MB has met the challenge.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good budget motherboard for the ivy bridge.

Cons: Can't use my logitech g510 keyboard to access the bios,i do have the headset unplugged from the keyboard,my g15 keyboard can access the bios.

I talked to an ecs rep on the phone and concluded that it was the g510 that was the issue which i knew already.

I was kind of hoping they would issue a bios fix for the logitech g510 but was told they had no g510 keyboard to test it with so
they put the issue to rest.

Other Thoughts: I had the same problem with a msi motherboard and when i told msi they sent a beta bios that fixed the problem.

Manufacturer Response:

I am are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your Logitech keyboard. As we recently spoke over over the phone, we have provided a BIOS to resolve this issue. If you continue to have any issues or have any questions please feel free to let me know. Your concerns with your previous case will be addressed.
