1 out of 5 eggsOverheating Issues

Pros: Great Features and Price Point, purchased for $105

Cons: Overheating northbridge, Ram became extremely hot, graphic card issues, board was plagued from get go!

Other Thoughts: Purchased computer from Newegg.ca Feb/2010. Experienced problems from the start, crashing, blue screen of death. Upgraded to 64bit Windows 7, severe heat issues started. Tech said northbridge was overheating, causing RAM to heat up severely. My defective MB was out of Newegg's 30 day warranty. I was quoted by ECS in USA in excess of the price I paid for MB. Called Newegg, they were awesome in providing immediate full refund for the return to a Canadian location.

Case: Raidmax Smilidon
Power Supply: 500 Watts
CPU: AMD Phenom 955
GPU: 5770 1GB DDR5

5 out of 5 eggsMEMORY?

Pros: GOOD!
JUST THE RIGHT MOBO FOR A MID RANGE GAMING RIG =)

Cons: i cant understand y my mobo reads my 4gb 1333 mhz 667 mhz? y?

Other Thoughts: awesome!

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback.

Depending on where you are finding your information about your memory running at 667MHz, it may be correct.

You may be seeing the actual speed of the memory. Since this memory is Double Data Rate you would double the actual speed of 667 giving you the effective speed of 1333.

If you have further question regarding this or would like to discuss it further please feel free to contact us.

2 out of 5 eggs2 Eggs for current issue I am having

Pros: Great board for what it costs. AM3, DDR3, Crossfire, HDMI out(for those without discrete graphics) Great on-board audio(5channel + optical)

Cons: After about 3 months the first two ram slots (orange) were causing lockups. I moved my 2x2GB GSkills to the yellows and since then no problems. I've checked my memory using 3 different programs and no errors whatsoever. I moved them back to the oranges tonight to see if the problem could be recreated and sure enough as soon as Windows loads it locks up. No error screen, just a hard freeze which leads me to believe I have a bad sector on my board. I am disappointed that I will not be able to install any additional RAM beyond my current setup and will be seeking service to this product through ECS. I don't know if this is common but it sure is a pain.

Other Thoughts: ECS' website is one of the worst to navigate. Their drivers and downloads are almost cryptic and it seems like they try to hide BIOS updates.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to here about the stability issues you are experiencing at this time.

In the first 3 months of use you had no issues?

Be aware that for best performance and compatibility, we recommend that you install DIMMs in the sequence of DIMM3, DIMM4, DIMM1 and DIMM2. For your reference this information can be found in your user’s manual.

In any event, please contact us, as we would like to discuss your issue with you and provide an RMA if necessary.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Motherboard

Pros: This will be my 3rd review as Newegg doesn't let you edit your previous ones. See other thoughs

Cons: It doesn't talk to me?

Other Thoughts: I was having problems when I would overclock my Phenom II x4 955. I tried everything but I could but couldn't get the bugs worked out. E-mailed ECS, and sure enough they produced a BIOS flash that fixed everything. Now my cpu's running stable at 3.6GHz (stock voltages), and memory at 1333MHz. Great Job ECS!! 5/5

3 out of 5 eggsOverclocking Problem

Pros: I had originally rated this board 5 stars, but ensuing bugs and problems with the bios makes me drop it to 3/5.

Cons: - No reply when I emailed ECS about my problem?

Other Thoughts: I have not been able to overclock my AMD Phenom II x4 955 even though their site states that "the A790GXM-AD3 delivers the best AMD Phenom overclocking options...." As stated in other reviews any change to BIOs relating to clock speeds or voltages, results in the system hanging on the next cold boot. The only way to get it to post/boot after adjusting the settings, is to reset the CMOS. It is stable when overclocking within Windows with AMD Overdrive (OC to 3.8 stable), but no luck when adjustments done in the BIOs. I have tried every bios update available on the ECS website with the problem still occurring. Also have had problems with running my DDR3 @ 1333MHz board seems to only like the "auto" setting which sets ram to 1066...

Manufacturer Response:

We do apologize for the issues you are encountering at this time.

Please contact us as soon, so that we may look into your over clocking and memory issues.

Also we would like your previous email to find out where you sent it and your email address used. We would appreciate it and would like address any concerns related to this.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Board!!!!

Pros: This board is fantastic. It was my first build. I got it for $105 and a $21 MIR. Manual was easy to use and understand installing my components was a breeze. Booted up first try. Not a worry.

Also i am 14 years old and i built a custom gaming rig!
that's how easy this is!

Cons: None fantastic

5 out of 5 eggsBios

Pros: Great Over Clocker
have 2 of these boards now.
have a X3 720 OC'd to 3.6Ghz on 1 and a X4 965 CE3 OC'd to 3.9Ghz on the other

Cons: mem slots a little to close to the cpu for large heatsinks, but my Zalman CPNS9700 LED just fits

Other Thoughts: had a little trouble with the first board and Crucial ballistic DDR3 Ram, I had to set the Bios settings for the ram manually or it would not boot, BUT the newest Bios out for the board sured the problem and I can leave it set to auto in the Bios.

4 out of 5 eggsNEEDS AN 8-PIN ATX12V PSU CONNECTOR!

Pros: - Great price.
- Nice and fast.
- Great (and easy) overclocker, overvolter.
(->5GHz, ->1.5(75?)vDC+o/v)
- Lots of BIOS settings :-)

Cons: - Newegg's part specification doesn't say that you need an 8-pin ATX12V PSU connection. Make sure you get a power supply that is compatable!!! This ended up costing me more than I wanted to spend on a PSU that was compatable with this motherboard. :-(

* NO TRIPLE CHANNEL DDR3 SUPPORT!
(Look for a different board if you want your DDR3 to run in triple-channel mode.)

* NO BIOS ACC SUPPORT FOR CORE UNLOCKING!! :-(
(ECS will not support this.)

* These were the reasons that I purchased this motherboard and I feel let down... I can do without either triple-channel DDR3 or not being able to unlock the extra cores on my new Phenom II X2 550.... But both?? I am let down by these facts and I should have done more research. Look closer at this board. Do your research people.

Other Thoughts: I want a better board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard!

Pros: +Price
+Features (onboard Radeon HD 3300 w/ HDMI output, AM3+ socket, Crossfireable, Supports up to 32GB of DDR3)
+Looks
+Easy to Overclock
+Works with Windows 7

Cons: -Wouldn't install motherboard drivers in Windows Vista?
But no problems with 7...

Other Thoughts: This was my first pc build, and managed to have it up and running with my Phenom 955 no problem. Caution about the motherboard screws, they seem to act as some kind of ground. I was using the wrong ones (comes with LOTS of screws) and was having a my pc short out.
